48: Chapter 48 Future Construction Plans
That small Hive City Constructor actually began to operate under the Tech-Priest's control.
The fifty-meter-tall machine quickly extended mechanical arms in all directions, and the anti-gravity system at its base activated and began to run.
This fifty-meter-tall machine, weighing over a thousand tons, actually floated in mid-air above the ground.
The technology of the Golden Age was truly beyond imagination!
However, the current situation was a bit strange; the mechanical arms remained still, seemingly waiting for instructions from the operator.
Seeing this, Nuwa immediately walked to the Tech-Priest's side to discuss and understand the machine's operating principles with him.
Xia Xingchen leaned against a nearby stone pillar, looking at the giant machine before him. He thought that with it, he would soon be able to build the prototype of a Hive City.
Xia Xingchen could not wait to see the machine in full operation.
After fully understanding the machine, Nuwa quickly returned to Xia Xingchen's side and explained its operational modes to him.
“The machine is configured with architectural blueprints and supports both fully automated and semi-automated construction modes. However, the only requirement is that we must continuously provide it with construction resources; it cannot perform resource collection on its own.”
Hearing the machine's strengths and weaknesses, Xia Xingchen did not hesitate and immediately ordered:
“None of that is a problem. Have it start running immediately.
At the same time, produce a complete construction blueprint as soon as possible, planning every area clearly. We must ensure that this Hive City can operate as perfectly as possible in the future.”
Xia Xingchen already had ideas in mind. He did not want to build a city like the Hive Worlds in the Imperium of Man, where the common people at the bottom ate Corpse Starch made from industrial waste and lived in a never-ending hell every day.
Xia Xingchen at least wanted the people at the bottom of this Hive City to see hope for survival—at the very least, to provide them with Synthetic Starch that could barely be called food to fill their bellies.
Xia Xingchen knew very well that in the entire world of warhammer 40k, the rarest thing was hope.
If Xia Xingchen could give hope to the people at the bottom of the Hive City, only a fool would turn to the evil gods of the Warp.
Why did the people of the Imperium throw themselves into the embrace of the Warp?
Because in the Imperium, they basically had no room for upward mobility and could see no hope at all; they could only labor day and night in cold, repetitive work.
But even if they worked their lives away, they couldn't even get enough food to fill their stomachs. Everyone was dying a slow death.
And those were the lucky ones at the bottom of the Hive City. The unlucky ones wouldn't even live to die of natural causes; they might lose their lives on the spot due to terrifying creatures in the lower hive, gang warfare, toxic pollution, and other accidents.
And their corpses would eventually be made into Corpse Starch. In the end, they wouldn't have eaten many mouthfuls of real Corpse Starch in their entire lives, yet they themselves would be turned into starch.
If these problems could be solved, Xia Xingchen estimated that nearly half of the Imperium's citizens would no longer turn to Chaos.
Xia Xingchen made up his mind that the Hive City he built must, at the very least, guarantee the basic livelihood of the people.
Just as Xia Xingchen was pondering his future plans, Nuwa gently reminded him.
Xia Xingchen snapped back to reality and looked at Nuwa, only to realize that everyone around him was waiting for him to issue new orders.
Xia Xingchen then gave the command:
“Once the blueprints are drawn, submit them to me for review first. We will begin implementation only after I have confirmed there are no issues.”
After settling the next steps, Xia Xingchen finally had time to rest.
Xia Xingchen sat in the original prayer room, looking at the contents of the system chat group and his point balance.
He hadn't expected that killing Tzeentch's followers and wiping out the Cult of Burning on a planet would cause his points to suddenly jump to twenty million.
But as Xia Xingchen looked at his points, he noticed they were actually continuing to grow at a slow and steady pace.
What was going on?
Xia Xingchen immediately began to investigate, while also scrolling through the forum chat group, hoping to find useful information.
As Xia Xingchen flipped through the chat history, he soon saw a group member with the same confusion who had posted a request for help.
[Can anyone tell me why my points aren't arriving in a lump sum, but are instead slowly increasing?]
[What have you been doing lately?]
An enthusiastic group member replied immediately, ready to provide an answer.
[Not much, just following the Imperium's actions and gaining some benefits from them.]
[Then it's not surprising. We discovered long ago that as long as you participate in actions related to the Imperium, points will grow slowly. This includes, but is not limited to, participating in the Imperium's military operations, building facilities for the Imperium, paying taxes to the Imperium, or serving the Imperium.]
Seeing this, it dawned on Xia Xingchen. So that was it; that was why his points were continuously rising.
In other words, as long as he continued to develop Lanshan Planet, points would keep flowing in.
Afterward, Xia Xingchen continued to scroll through other chat content in the group to see how everyone else was doing and if there was any information beneficial to him.
Soon, an important piece of information caught Xia Xingchen's eye.
What the hell? No way.
What does it mean to turn the entire Ultima Segmentum into a breeding ground for Chaos?
Xia Xingchen looked at the name of the speaker, who called himself Xue Shatian.
Holy crap, with a name like that, you don't even need to look to know he's a follower of Khorne.
Xue Shatian's ideas and primary targets were the Ultramarines' Ultramar.
That was still within the realm of normal.
However, what Xia Xingchen couldn't understand was why anyone would join the Tau Empire.
There was someone calling himself Freedom Holy T'au—the name sounded distinctly Western.
It was said that Freedom Holy T'au had already joined the Tau Empire and was even promoting the Greater Good to everyone in the group.
Most people in the chat group turned their noses up at Freedom Holy T'au; only a very small number of people seeking a stable life expressed a willingness to take a look.
Clearly, the Tau Empire, this young race, had not yet been completely dragged into the cesspool of warhammer 40k. They still maintained a positive and upward development trend.
Basically, those who chose to join were thinking: exchange for a few hundred years of stability and live out their lives steadily on a home world until they die.
