3: Chapter 3 Chaos Battleship
Xia Xingchen watched the surrounding stars, which seemed to converge into a river of light, flowing rapidly past him.
"What's our current speed?"
Hearing this, the Nuwa System immediately replied to Xia Xingchen in an easy-to-understand manner:
"The speed of the dream star has reached 0.9 times the speed of light."
Xia Xingchen pondered the setting of the Warhammer World.
The reason Warhammer uses the Warp is that they lack technologies like space jumps or black hole traversal that allow for rapid travel from one end of the galaxy to the other.
But in terms of conventional speed, they are not inferior to other science fiction works at all.
According to the settings in the novels, the conventional speed of Warhammer ships can reach 0.75 times the speed of light.
This is mainly because the galaxy is simply too vast; without using Warp engines, it would be impossible to manage the sprawling Milky Way.
"Master, we have arrived. The total duration was estimated at three minutes. Please wait for the ship to stabilize before issuing further orders."
Once the ship had come to a steady halt, Xia Xingchen immediately looked at the images sent back by the bow sensors.
The planet before him was entirely grey, making one wonder if it was a Dead World.
In the Warhammer World, worlds with no value and that are unsuitable for life are collectively referred to as Dead Worlds.
Xia Xingchen was considering whether to go down to the planet to see if he could scavenge any scraps.
After all, owing a one-trillion-credit loan was no small matter.
Although the system hadn't specified how much to pay back now or when, Xia Xingchen felt he should at least have a hundred million on hand.
Xia Xingchen also felt that paying back a trillion all at once was definitely unrealistic; the system would surely have an installment plan.
If he had to pay back trillions at once, Xia Xingchen felt it would be easier for the system to just kill him.
As Xia Xingchen was thinking, three red squares suddenly appeared on the screen.
"What's going on?"
"Unknown vessels, approximately 1.5 kilometers in length."
Xia Xingchen immediately commanded the crew in the next second:
"Enlarge the image. I want to see the opposing ships clearly."
The crew operated quickly, enlarging the ship icons. A massive Eight-pointed Star symbol appeared before Xia Xingchen.
"Motherfucker, it's a chaos warship! Quick, all crew members, battle stations!"
"What weapon systems do we have on this ship?"
Xia Xingchen asked Nuwa frantically, fearing his warship lacked weapons. He knew he should have looked at the dream star's data more carefully earlier.
In the next second, Xia Xingchen realized his worries were unnecessary as Nuwa directly displayed twenty weapon systems aboard the dream star.
"I suggest using the Singularity Cannon to blast them into pieces along with that planet. This will facilitate our collection of the planet's remaining resources."
What the heck?
Singularity Cannon?
Blowing up an entire planet with one shot?
"No, that won't do. Use conventional weapons and just destroy those ships."
Upon receiving the order, the crew operated swiftly. A standard particle light cannon on the ship's exterior pivoted and aimed at the unknown warships.
Golden light gathered at the muzzle, then fired abruptly.
Xia Xingchen watched the screen as the originally solid beam split into three mid-flight.
Seeing this, the three unknown enemy ships clearly tried to make an emergency escape, their Void Shields flaring to life instantly.
But the powerful beams instantly blasted them and their hulls in half; the Void Shields offered no protection whatsoever.
The next second, 3 million points were instantly credited to Xia Xingchen's account.
Looking at the 3 million points in his account, Xia Xingchen immediately cheered in his heart:
"Long live the Emperor! The Emperor is eternal, I will follow the Emperor to the death!"
A Chaos Cobra-class Destroyer was actually worth 1 million points each.
This is awesome!
Then, Xia Xingchen's dream star flew into orbit above the planet, using mechanical arms to grab the wreckage of the three Cobra-class Escorts. Engineering vessels then departed from the warship to begin recovering useful materials and resources.
Soon, the engineering ships dragged a large pile of ship wreckage into the dream star.
Engineers quickly dismantled the wreckage, searching for usable components.
"Nuwa, do you have any capabilities regarding the Warp?"
Hearing Xia Xingchen's words, Nuwa quickly performed a self-scan:
"I can detect Warp energy fluctuations and isolate infections, but I cannot guarantee whether others will be infected."
Xia Xingchen felt very conflicted. chaos warships were highly likely to carry Warp corruption, but there might be lost STC Templates to be found on them.
Xia Xingchen didn't want to give up any opportunity to salvage a ship.
Besides, the order prohibiting ship salvaging was only issued after Regent Guilliman awakened.
Right now, Lord Guilliman was still slumbering on Macragge, so naturally, there was no such ban. Xia Xingchen could act as he pleased.
However, just to be safe, Xia Xingchen had Nuwa monitor the recovery in real-time. Anyone showing the slightest sign of Chaos corruption would be executed on the spot.
It wasn't that Xia Xingchen was cruel, but in the cesspool world of warhammer 40k, it was a necessity.
The corruption of Chaos was everywhere.
Fortunately, no infection occurred.
Xia Xingchen's greatest gain was an incomplete star map obtained from those ships.
Judging by the images on the star map, it pointed directly toward the Ultima Segmentum.
"What kind of star map is this?" Xia Xingchen looked at the map, his face full of complaints.
He saw that many places on the map were covered in scratches and red skull markings.
Many routes were also clearly marked in gothic as abandoned. It was as if Xia Xingchen were naturally fluent in gothic.
In fact, Warp routes in warhammer 40k change constantly.
Influenced by the Warp, many routes can only be navigated based on luck and experience.
However, this star map clearly marked a complete route leading straight to the Ultima Segmentum.
God bless me!
Xia Xingchen secretly rejoiced in his heart.
Xia Xingchen's original plan was to immediately flee to the other four major sectors of the galaxy besides the Segmentum Solar: the Ultima Segmentum, Segmentum Obscurus, Taiping Sector, and Segmentum Tempestus.
Most of these places were far from the Imperium, and the Imperium's control over many parts of these regions was weak, making them very suitable for Xia Xingchen's development.
However, the reason he didn't go to those places at first was entirely because he didn't have a navigational star map.
In the world of warhammer 40k, without a navigational star map, you would mostly likely just bump around like a headless fly.
After all, the galaxy is too vast. Without maps drawn by the Imperium, the universe was a blind void to Xia Xingchen.
