41: Chapter 41 Different Stances
When Xia Xingchen opened his eyes, he realized the sky outside the window had already brightened.
It was time to get up.
Xia Xingchen's brain quickly issued a command, demanding his body to move.
However, the exhaustion from the past few days made Xia Xingchen crave this moment of relief.
Just as Xia Xingchen's body and mind were at war with each other, a sensation suddenly reached him, touching him.
Xia Xingchen woke up instantly and turned to look at his side.
Saint Sabbat was lying right beside Xia Xingchen.
At this moment, Saint Sabbat was curled up, sleeping like a docile little kitten.
Xia Xingchen immediately climbed out of bed quietly, trying his best not to wake Saint Sabbat, thinking only that he had to leave quickly so he wouldn't have to explain anything when she woke up.
Just as Xia Xingchen finished dressing, a voice came from behind him.
"My Lord, why didn't you tell me when you woke up?"
Xia Xingchen's dressing motion paused; his brain raced, and he quickly came up with a reasonable explanation.
"I just saw that you were too tired and didn't have the heart to wake you.
By the way, what happened last night?
How did you end up in my bed?"
After speaking, Xia Xingchen still wanted to figure out what exactly happened last night; he clearly remembered sleeping alone.
"The other beds were too hard, so I asked Sister Nuwa if I could sleep with you."
"She agreed?"
Xia Xingchen was full of disbelief; he remembered that Nuwa would absolutely never agree to such a thing.
"She didn't agree, but I snuck over anyway."
It was over; if Nuwa saw this scene, she would definitely be angry.
Xia Xingchen hurried to finish dressing.
"Then you should sleep a little longer, and make sure not to let Nuwa find out."
After giving Saint Sabbat instructions, Xia Xingchen immediately pushed the door open.
At the other end of the corridor, Nuwa was just walking towards Xia Xingchen's room.
Seeing this, Xia Xingchen quickly quickened his pace to meet Nuwa.
Nuwa saw that her Lord was awake and was just about to greet him when Xia Xingchen grabbed her hand.
"Let's go, Nuwa. I'm hungry. Let's go have breakfast first; there are still many things to handle today."
Nuwa was stunned to hear this, not understanding what was so urgent, but since Xia Xingchen kept holding her hand, she couldn't pull away and was half-dragged, half-led away from the doorway.
At the dining table, Xia Xingchen was eating a steak-like meat patty while drinking juice.
"Regarding the Burning Cult, I think since we follow the Emperor and have always been loyal to the Emperor, we might as well just conquer them with force."
Nuwa sat opposite Xia Xingchen, watching him eat breakfast, and upon hearing his words, she quickly summarized and analyzed the data.
"My Lord, your proposal is feasible. With our current strength, even if the Burning Cult has half a million people, we can easily conquer them."
Nuwa made a rough estimate, tentatively setting the base population of both the Burning Cult and the Imperial Cult at half a million, but in reality, the God-Emperor Faction's numbers were far higher than the Burning Cult's.
At the very least, it accounted for over 65% of the planet's million-strong population.
However, Nuwa changed the subject.
"But I believe we can try negotiating first to minimize casualties and secure a larger population base."
Unexpectedly, before Nuwa's voice had even faded, a voice of opposition sounded from behind Xia Xingchen.
"I do not agree with you, Nuwa."
Xia Xingchen felt a slight pull from behind, and immediately his back leaned against a soft and elastic body.
Xia Xingchen looked up and realized that Saint Sabbat had appeared behind him at some point.
Xia Xingchen tilted his head back, his occiput gently brushing against the softness behind him, and looked at Saint Sabbat, asking curiously:
"Why are you here? Are you here to have breakfast?"
Nuwa had no intention of beating around the bush with Saint Sabbat; her every starting point was based on the highest interests of her master.
"Saint Sabbat, I know you are loyal to the Emperor, but please remember that the army, weapons, and warships—everything right now—belongs to the Commander. Therefore, you have no right to make decisions for the Commander."
Hearing Nuwa's blunt words, Saint Sabbat's heart tightened.
Saint Sabbat was very clear that the core of maintaining everything right now was Xia Xingchen's existence.
Saint Sabbat was not only a Living Saint but also an outstanding strategist and politician.
Otherwise, she would have had no ability to integrate the armies of the various Imperial factions and make them work together to launch the holy Great Crusade.
Saint Sabbat was not stupid; she knew very well that the core ruler of this force was now Xia Xingchen, and Xia Xingchen had the power to control everything.
As long as Xia Xingchen was willing, the cause of loyalty to the Emperor could continue to advance;
but if Xia Xingchen was unwilling and instead turned to the embrace of the Four Chaos Gods, then the consequences were something Saint Sabbat dared not imagine.
This was also why Saint Sabbat had always displayed the demeanor of a little woman, showing complete obedience and dependence toward Xia Xingchen.
She hoped to use this method to firmly pull Xia Xingchen into the Empire's camp, or at least prevent him from defecting to Chaos; otherwise, just that 30-kilometer-long super warship alone would be enough to cause the Empire endless headaches.
Watching the two women at loggerheads, Xia Xingchen knew he had to step forward to stop this dispute, otherwise the consequences would be unimaginable.
"Enough, both of you stop arguing."
Xia Xingchen immediately used his authority as the Commander to stop their dispute.
"The reason I chose to conquer the Burning Cult by force is not only to demonstrate our military might but also to screen for any Chaos cultists who have been deeply corrupted.
These people are ticking time bombs, and once something happens, the consequences would be unimaginable."
Xia Xingchen pointed out the danger of Chaos; a thorough purge was necessary, executing all believers deeply devoted to Khorne, to ensure the future plan could be implemented stably and safely.
Seeing that Xia Xingchen had said so, Nuwa had no choice but to accept his decision.
"Sabat, don't just stand there idly either. Immediately order those priests to assemble all the soldiers under their command; I want to organize an expeditionary force and launch a holy war."
Xia Xingchen broke free from Saint Sabbat's embrace and then issued an order to her.
"My Lord, I will go do it right away."
"Wait a moment, finish breakfast before you go."
Seeing that Saint Sabbat was about to go handle matters without even eating breakfast, Xia Xingchen couldn't bear it and quickly called her back.
Upon hearing Xia Xingchen's words, Saint Sabbat returned to her seat and sat opposite Xia Xingchen.
She sat right next to Nuwa and began to eat the breakfast in front of them together.
