115: Chapter 115 Solving the Chaotic Creation
As Xia Xingchen finished speaking, he drew his Bolter and pulled the trigger, opening fire on the monster.
Beside him, the Battle Sister Vira shouted, "For the Emperor!" and charged forward first.
Behind them, the Stormtroopers and Battle Sisters immediately formed a firing line, pouring relentless fire into the monster from a distance.
The moment countless laser beams and flames struck the monster, it seemed to feel pain; it writhed its body frantically like a stabbed giant worm, lashing out at everything in front of it.
Inquisitor Kolo, quick-witted and agile, swung his power sword down hard, cleanly severing one of the monster's tentacles.
Feeling the excruciating pain, a thick, flesh-spiked tentacle swept across horizontally.
Several Stormtroopers were unable to dodge in time; they were slammed against the wall on the spot, crushed into pulp.
The Battle Sisters immediately seized the opportunity, aiming their flamers at the tentacle and unleashing a thousand-degree inferno.
The tentacle hissed like charred squid, and black, corrosive fluid flowed down from the wound.
Under the intense pain, the monster actually severed its own tentacle to survive.
Watching the severed tentacle still twitching on the ground, Xia Xingchen muttered to himself, "You've got to be kidding me, it can do that?"
Just then, he noticed the Battle Sisters quickly gathering together, and amidst pious prayers, they pulled something resembling grenades from their robes.
Xia Xingchen instantly recalled the lore from Warhammer and recognized them as Holy Water Grenades.
The Battle Sisters hurled the Holy Water Grenades at the monster. The moment the grenades detonated, there was no explosive or high-temperature melta charge, only a cloud of holy mist.
The mist fell upon the monster like fine rain, immediately causing a hissing, corrosive sound.
The monster jerked its tentacles back; the parts completely enveloped by the mist began to rot rapidly, as if submerged in concentrated acid.
Rotting flesh peeled away from the body piece by piece, revealing a twisted, unrecognizable skeleton beneath.
Looking at that skeleton, Xia Xingchen couldn't fathom how it functioned; it defied every known scientific law.
A skeleton like that on any living creature would be nothing but a useless, deformed limb.
Seeing this, Xia Xingchen immediately raised his Bolter and blew out the eye on a small, lunging tentacle.
The center of the battlefield was entirely Inquisitor Kolo's stage. The specialized power armor exclusive to an Inquisitor he wore made him look like a god of war on the battlefield.
Xia Xingchen clearly realized that this Inquisitor could use psychic powers; he was at least an Alpha-level Psyker.
As a dazzling psychic light flared upon his power sword, Inquisitor Kolo swung it lightly, slicing through the monster's limbs like a hot knife through butter.
Inquisitor Kolo charged at the forefront, almost pressing against the monster's core body.
A huge, swollen fleshy palm slammed down hard toward him.
Inquisitor Kolo instantly erupted with powerful psychic energy, and combined with the immense strength granted by his power armor, he stood like a steel nail driven into the battlefield; any Warp spawn that dared to approach would be pierced by his sword.
Like a reaper of death, Inquisitor Kolo carved a bloody path through the monster's countless tentacles and twisted limbs.
By now, his power armor was covered in the monster's black, filthy blood.
He lunged close to the monster's body, thrust his power sword deep into it, and then pried it open with force.
A massive gash was torn open in the monster's flesh, with skin and meat flipping outward, exposing the sickening Warp flesh inside to everyone's eyes.
The Battle Sisters immediately surrounded him, using their flamers to burn a clearing around Inquisitor Kolo, driving back the constantly surging deformed limbs.
The Stormtroopers also fired desperately, buying time and space for the Inquisitor and the Battle Sisters.
With their own flesh and blood, they resisted those bizarre limbs that kept lunging at them.
But as the battle continued, Xia Xingchen realized that such attacks caused minimal damage to the monster, at most depleting less than 10% of its health.
Xia Xingchen immediately realized that with only their current strength, they could never kill this monster. If they kept fighting, all the Stormtroopers and Battle Sisters would die here.
This was something he absolutely could not accept; these were the Empire's top anti-Chaos forces. If they were all wiped out here, how would the subsequent Battle of Troy be fought?
How would the final decisive battle be fought?
Xia Xingchen looked around and quickly noticed the dome skylight above.
That massive spherical dome was transparent, and the sky outside was clearly visible.
In other words, fighter jets outside could provide fire support from here.
Seeing this, Xia Xingchen did not hesitate; he immediately raised his Bolter and pulled the trigger repeatedly, aiming at the joints of the dome, firing a total of thirteen rounds.
The thirteen Bolter rounds struck the transparent glass of the dome precisely, instantly creating countless cracks, and the entire dome collapsed with a roar.
Xia Xingchen immediately connected to the external communication channel: "No time to explain! Have the heavy artillery unit aim at The Spire dome, I've blown it open!"
As he spoke, Xia Xingchen dodged a lashing tentacle, "Now, send a few fighter jets over immediately, have them dive from the dome breach and strafe the monster with their autocannons!"
On the other end of the communication, Zheng Hai nodded and acknowledged the order.
The fighter jets roared as they flew to the outside of the dome; the pilots couldn't see the situation inside and could only circle outside.
Xia Xingchen immediately shouted into the communication channel: "Don't bother aiming! Just fire directly into the center!"
The fighter jets immediately targeted the center of the dome and opened fire violently downward.
Autocannon shells poured down like a dense rain, and shrapnel and debris rained down on the monster's head like falling flowers.
The monster was suppressed by the dense firepower and couldn't lift its head.
Inquisitor Kolo seized the opportunity, darting through the ruins like a swift, then leaped up violently, slashing his power sword down hard toward the only head on top of the monster that still retained a human shape.
Inquisitor Kolo had long realized that the head was the command core of the entire monster.
As long as that head was severed, the monster would completely lose its mind and turn into a pile of rotting flesh that only twitched in place; then, a single round of artillery fire would be enough to finish it off.
While dodging attacks from all directions, Inquisitor Kolo aimed his power sword at the forehead of the Hive City governor.
Just then, the monster seemed to sense his intention, and countless tentacles immediately retracted to protect the head.
But this time, Inquisitor Kolo was charging with a death-defying resolve.
The autocannon shells continuously falling from the sky struck the surrounding tentacles, and the fragments and shockwaves from the explosions spread in all directions.
Inquisitor Kolo prayed for the Emperor to protect him from stray fire while nimbly dodging the tentacles' attacks.
Perhaps there truly was the Emperor's protection, as he charged unimpeded to the front of the head and slashed down with his power sword.
In an instant, it split the governor's head in two.
The monster let out a heart-wrenching scream, and its entire body began to twitch and flail wildly.
Inquisitor Kolo also had to avoid the brunt of it and quickly retreated to the side.
He did not continue to attack but kept retreating backward.
Inquisitor Kolo retreated to Xia Xingchen's side and said, "That's enough, have the heavy artillery unit outside finish it off."
Inquisitor Kolo also understood that with only their strength, they could not possibly kill this monster completely; they had to rely on the heavy artillery's firepower.
As Inquisitor Kolo finished speaking, he simultaneously notified the heavy artillery unit outside.
Immediately following was a frantic retreat; everyone wished they had two more legs, running desperately toward the main gate.
After all, artillery shells don't have eyes.
Two hundred Basilisk self-propelled artillery units quickly aimed at the location of The Spire.
Under the Commander's order, shell after shell was loaded.
Following the officer's command, the artillery fire roared, carving arcs through the air as they flew toward The Spire.
At this moment, the monster inside the room had completely lost its mind, only twitching and shrieking blindly in place, unable to make any reaction at all.
The first shell didn't hit the monster's body but slammed into the steel beams overhead.
Countless broken steel beams plunged toward the ground like falling iron spears, instantly pinning the monster to the floor, unable to move; unexpectedly, this accidental hit worked perfectly to restrict its movement.
The subsequent shells landed precisely on the monster's body.
Fire and shockwaves exploded repeatedly in the room, tearing apart the entire building and the monster inside.
Xia Xingchen peered inside through binoculars.
The entire room of The Spire had collapsed by more than half, leaving only the monster's lonely trunk standing in the ruins like a deformed pillar.
Psychic detection confirmed that there were no signs of life inside.
"The rest is up to you."
Xia Xingchen threw this remark to Inquisitor Kolo and Vira, meaning that the remaining cleanup work was theirs to handle; if they didn't care, he would send his own troops to take over.
Inquisitor Kolo did not refuse.
His troops immediately entered the ruins, using flamers and special dissolving agents to carefully burn and clean every corner, completely erasing all traces of Chaos.
