87: Chapter 86 Cassandra, Hector

Xia Xingchen was speechless at this.

Psykers were already extremely rare, and to have female Psykers, with peerless beauty, and to be twins on top of that...

All these conditions combined were enough to make Xia Xingchen secretly challenge the laws of the Empire.

"Rest assured, since they were allowed to be circulated, they must be quite ordinary."

Katrus was only hiding one thing: he didn't actually know the full story behind these two Psykers. He had been at a black market when a madman started shouting at almost everyone he saw, trying to sell these two slaves.

Katrus had been interested at the time, as Rogue Traders naturally enjoyed collecting strange and exotic things. However, when Katrus first saw these two Psykers, his initial instinct was to refuse.

But that crazed fellow was practically giving them away, saying they could be bought for just 100 units of currency, and it was a buy-one-get-one-free deal.

Hearing this, Katrus agreed instantly.

A normal slave cost 300 throne gelt; this was practically like picking up money for free.

Furthermore, Katrus had paid in local currency, so the price wasn't even worth 100 throne gelt.

However, Katrus had gone to great lengths to transport them onto the golden trade.

At first, Katrus worried if these two Psykers were some kind of monsters, but after being brought onto the starship, they remained quiet and steady, with no unexpected incidents occurring.

Gradually, Katrus lowered his guard.

In his eyes, he believed the twins were merely Eta (η) grade Psykers, the 'Manifest' level.

The psychic abilities of such Psykers can be discerned from their appearance.

These were the targets the Black Ships were meant to capture, though the vast majority were sent to the heart of the Empire to serve as fuel.

Katrus believed that since these two could be circulated, it proved the Empire's Black Ships didn't care much about them.

Katrus's logic was this: if the Psykers had been taken by the Black Ships but ended up in circulation without any troops being mobilized to hunt them down, it proved these two Psykers were expendable to the Empire.

Therefore, the probability of problems arising was very low.

Xia Xingchen remained silent for a long while, looking at the two Psykers as he calculated in his mind.

"One million."

Xia Xingchen's voice fell.

"I will give you one million throne gelt for the two of them, but regarding their existence, only you and I can know. All their records and data must be destroyed, do you understand? Katrus."

Hearing this, Katrus immediately nodded. He knew that this one million was not just the price for the twins, but more of a hush-money payment.

However, Katrus was now completely lightheaded from the price.

One million.

Something bought for less than 100 was being sold for a million.

Katrus agreed on the spot.

A large quantity of goods began to be moved and transferred.

The transaction concluded successfully. Xia Xingchen paid the equivalent of nearly 3.5 tons of Adamantite to buy all the commodities Katrus had brought.

"Mr. Katrus, next time, I hope you can procure a warship for me."

As Xia Xingchen finally bid farewell to Katrus, he made his request for the next time.

Xia Xingchen was no longer lacking in terms of manpower; what he needed now was time.

And what Xia Xingchen needed time for most was the establishment of a space fleet. A space fleet cannot be built overnight; for the Empire to build a single warship, it takes at least fifty or sixty years, and sometimes over a century.

Rather than building one, it was better to buy a second-hand one that could be used after some modifications, just to get his space fleet organized first.

Katrus's heart skipped a beat upon hearing this. He hadn't expected his buyer's appetite to be so large that he could even swallow a warship.

Buying a warship was a difficult task even for Katrus, but he still had ways to find the channels.

After all, following Katrus's previous transaction, many people noticed that the Ramon Dynasty he represented had not only survived the recent blow but was showing signs of a subtle resurgence.

No one knew where Katrus got his funding; perhaps it was their savings, or perhaps it was provided by a major client he was collaborating with.

But regardless, the Ramon Dynasty would not fall; Katrus would carry the Ramon Dynasty on his shoulders. Perhaps it would take decades, perhaps centuries, but so what?

Life-extension technology allowed Rogue Trader peers to have centuries of time; they had plenty of time to see the rise of a rejuvenated Ramon Dynasty.

Out of consideration for this future, many factions began to extend a helping hand to the Ramon Dynasty, hoping they would remember this timely assistance.

"It's a deal. See you next year."

Xia Xingchen gave Katrus an Aquila Salute as a farewell.

Cassandra and Hecuba had already been released from their cage by Xia Xingchen's soldiers.

Xia Xingchen looked around and inspected them, but saw no obvious psychic power.

However, Xia Xingchen had little contact with Psykers; the only one he had met was Saint Sabat. But Saint Sabat's psychic power was mostly manifested in combat; her power was very likely a blessing from the Emperor.

Cassandra and Hecuba were different; they were true, pure Psykers.

"Are you two sisters?"

The two young girls nodded.

"Who is the older sister? Who is the younger?"

A gentle yet somewhat timid voice rang out:

"I, Cassandra Roca, am the older sister. Hecuba Roca is the younger sister."

Xia Xingchen then requested that they demonstrate the strength of their psychic power.

Cassandra and Hecuba were clearly reluctant, but Xia Xingchen remained insistent; he had to see for himself whether these two Psykers were indeed Eta (η) grade 'Manifest' level.

This was the only level Xia Xingchen could accept. If they were any higher, they would truly be like time bombs that could explode at any moment.

Cassandra and Hecuba picked up a small stone and began to manipulate it. Their eyes flickered with light, and then the stone slowly rose from the ground until it was level with a person.

At this sight, the surrounding soldiers quickly aimed their guns at the two Psykers.

If the stone were to fly toward the Archon, they would be riddled with bullets in an instant.

As they immediately ceased their psychic power, the stone went into a free fall the next second.

Judging by this, if they weren't deceiving him, they were just ordinary, low-level Psykers.

"Mm, very good. Come with me. From now on, you will be my personal secretaries."

A soft, large bed and a warm bath.

Cassandra and Hecuba sat in the bathroom, washing their bodies.

Over the next month, they would receive strict maid training here until they could perfectly undertake the duties of a maid.

Cassandra washed her sister's body.

"Sister, you and I must control our psychic powers. We must never destroy our home like we did before."
