26: Chapter 26 This isn't fortune telling, it's public execution!
The plaza of the Starlight Media building was exceptionally crowded tonight.
Because Li Cheng had cordoned off the venue.
Although Jiang Feng had refused him last night, he was certain that Jiang Feng would return.
He understood that look; it was the look of a "businessman" leaving a door ajar.
A cordon had been set up around the perimeter of the plaza.
Those minor influencers from last night could only stand outside the circle, holding their phones high up.
The central area had been cleared, with only a mahogany tea table and two grandmaster chairs placed there.
Li Cheng sat in one of the chairs, rolling two walnuts in his hand.
Two rows of bodyguards stood behind him, their presence imposing.
"Boss, he's here."
The bodyguard whispered a reminder.
A black MPV slowly drove into the plaza.
There were no police cars leading the way, nor a motorcade escorting it. It was just this one vehicle, yet it drove with the momentum of an entire army.
The crowd parted automatically.
The car stopped five meters in front of the mahogany tea table.
The sliding door opened automatically.
Old Chen got out first.
He was wearing that black tank top, his muscle definition clear.
He walked to the back seat, took out that small folding stool, and placed it on the ground.
Then, Jiang Feng stepped out.
He was holding half a cup of unfinished cola.
He was still wearing that same old hoodie, and his complexion still didn't look good, but in the reflection of the car lights, there was an added touch of eerie calmness.
Li Cheng stood up.
"Master Jiang." Li Cheng smiled without warmth. "Quite the grand entrance, nice new car."
Jiang Feng ignored him.
He walked over to the small folding stool and sat down.
This action directly ignored the expensive grandmaster chair that Li Cheng had prepared.
This height difference forced Li Cheng to look down at him, or... crouch down.
"Mr. Li," Jiang Feng began, "No need for these superficial things. Your tea table is too high, and I prefer to look people in the eye when I talk to them."
Li Cheng's eye twitched.
Under the gaze of everyone, he actually had someone remove the tea table and the grandmaster chair, then had his underlings bring over a matching small plastic stool.
Li Cheng sat down opposite Jiang Feng.
Camera flashes flickered wildly throughout the plaza.
Two people with vastly different status and positions sat in the center of the plaza, looking like two old men playing chess on the street corner.
"Master Jiang." Li Cheng lowered his voice. "Last night you said my building's feng shui was broken. Today I've cleared this plaza just to hear your expert opinion. I have plenty of money. As long as you can fix this situation for me."
Jiang Feng looked at him.
21:00.
Mission time had arrived.
The system interface unfolded before Jiang Feng's eyes.
It was a massive holographic architectural model, superimposed over the real Starlight Media building.
Red warning cursors were flashing wildly on the model's base and load-bearing columns.
"Mr. Li." Jiang Feng's voice, carried through the microphone on Li Cheng's collar, spread throughout the plaza.
"I don't look at feng shui. Feng shui cannot save you."
Jiang Feng raised his hand and pointed at the skyscraper towering into the clouds behind him.
"What I see is the omen of 'an impending collapse'."
Li Cheng sneered. "Alarmist talk. I hired the most famous master from Hong Kong to set up the formation for this building—a jade belt around the waist, gathering wind and storing qi."
"A master can set up a formation, but they cannot form human hearts."
Jiang Feng pointed at Li Cheng's face.
"Your wealth palace is glowing a deep, purple red; that's congealed blood. It indicates that a recent large sum of money you received came from an improper source and carries the scent of blood."
"There is a horizontal line cutting through your children palace. In architectural physiognomy, the children palace corresponds to the load-bearing column in the southwest corner of the building."
Jiang Feng's voice suddenly became sharp.
"The column there is cracked. Isn't it?"
The walnuts in Li Cheng's hand dropped to the ground with a "clack".
His pupils constricted violently.
That was top secret!
Yesterday afternoon, the engineering department did indeed report that a load-bearing column in the underground parking lot in the southwest corner had developed a crack.
In order not to affect the IPO audit, he ordered the news to be suppressed and had people seal it off overnight with decorative panels and wallpaper.
Only he and the engineering department manager knew about this!
How could this Jiang Feng possibly know?
"What nonsense are you spouting!" Li Cheng stood up abruptly, his voice slightly distorted. "There is no problem with the quality of my building! It passed inspection!"
Jiang Feng sat on the folding stool, looking up at him.
"Inspection?" Jiang Feng smiled, but the smile didn't reach his eyes. "When the foundation piles for this building were being driven, in order to rush the schedule and save money, you used substandard steel bars. The pile foundation depth was five meters short. To cover it up, you drove away the supervisor who wanted to report it and even staged an accident."
"Right now, that crack isn't a feng shui evil spirit; it's a physics problem. The foundation is sinking, and the shear walls are under uneven stress."
Jiang Feng held up three fingers.
"Three days. If it is not reinforced, within three days, this building will suffer a structural collapse."
"This isn't business, Mr. Li. This is thousands of human lives. The rice you're about to eat isn't feng shui rice; it's prison food."
The entire scene was deathly silent.
Only the sound of the wind whistling through the plaza could be heard.
In the live stream, millions of people held their breath.
This isn't fortune-telling; this is a public trial!
This is smashing Li Cheng's head against the ground!
"Turn off the stream! Turn off the live stream!" Li Cheng roared, rushing toward the nearby cameraman.
The bodyguards swarmed forward, trying to snatch the phones from the surrounding influencers.
"Let's see who dares to move!"
A thunderous shout rang out.
Old Chen blocked in front of Jiang Feng like an iron tower.
He had no weapon in his hand, but with a single punch, the bodyguard in the front was sent flying back two meters.
"Police! Don't move!"
Around the perimeter of the plaza, police sirens suddenly blared.
It wasn't because Li Cheng had called the police, but rather Zhao Yi.
He had been watching the live stream.
When he heard the words "thousands of human lives" and "accident", he knew something major had happened.
Criminal Police Officers rushed into the plaza and quickly brought the situation under control.
Li Cheng collapsed limply to the ground.
He looked at Jiang Feng, his eyes filled with terror.
The capital, connections, and tactics he was so proud of had crumbled before just a few words from this young man.
Jiang Feng didn't look at him again.
In his mind, the system's voice sounded.
"Ding! Target (Li Cheng)'s psychological defense has collapsed, crime exposed."
"Valid fortune-telling sessions: 3/3."
"Congratulations to the host, you have completed the 'Starlight Plaza' mission!"
"Calculating rewards..."
"Reward distributed: Brain cancer cell activity reduced by 10%! Remaining lifespan increased by 60 days!"
"Received cash reward: 5 million!"
A cool current instantly swept through his entire body.
The excruciating pain that was always entrenched deep in his brain receded like a tide.
His breathing became smooth, and even his vision became much clearer.
Jiang Feng stood up.
He folded up the small stool and tucked it under his arm.
"Off work."
Jiang Feng patted Old Chen on the shoulder.
Under the complex gazes of the police and the crowd, the two of them climbed back into the black lexus.
The car door closed.
All the clamor was shut out.
Jiang Feng leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes.
"Boss, where to?" Old Chen asked.
"Home," Jiang Feng said. "I'm sleepy."
