38: Chapter 38 A veterinarian's diagnosis is no match for my ability to observe qi.

Wang Hao crossed his arms, held himself in a high-and-mighty posture, and spoke in a patronizing tone.

"The stress responses of felines are very complex, and the causes of vomiting and diarrhea are diverse. To conclude out of thin air that it is some kind of plant poisoning before conducting biochemical tests and toxicological analysis is a highly irresponsible act."

His voice was loud, attracting the attention of everyone around.

"By doing this, you are very likely to delay the optimal treatment window. If it turns out not to be daffodil poisoning, but some other more acute condition, can you bear that responsibility?"

Once these words were spoken, the surrounding pet owners also began to waver.

"What this doctor says makes sense."

"Yeah, what if the diagnosis is wrong? Wouldn't that harm the little cat?"

"I told you, we still have to trust science. Instruments never lie."

Jiang Feng listened to the surrounding discussions without any reaction.

He just looked at Wang Hao and asked a question.

"Then what tests did you perform on that cat just now? What medicine did you prescribe?"

Wang Hao's expression stiffened for a moment.

"I... I suggested that he get a full-body checkup, including a complete blood count, biochemistry, and DR imaging... but he couldn't afford the examination fees."

He stiffened his neck and added.

"I could only prescribe him some gastrointestinal regulators first and let him go back to observe..."

"Gastrointestinal regulators?" Jiang Feng pushed up the gold-rimmed glasses on the bridge of his nose, his voice devoid of warmth. "So, your responsibility, your science, is to have an animal that is about to die from toxin exposure take a bunch of probiotics that have absolutely no effect on neurotoxins?"

Wang Hao's face flushed red.

Jiang Feng's words pointed directly at his helplessness regarding the cat, hidden beneath his "science" and "procedures."

In the face of an expensive medical system and rigid diagnostic procedures, his so-called responsibility was truly impotent.

"This is standard procedure!" Wang Hao's voice rose. "No diagnosis without examination; that is the most basic principle!"

Jiang Feng shook his head.

"Your principles will kill that cat."

The two confronted each other, and the atmosphere grew tense.

The two Interns behind Wang Hao watched their teacher being refuted until he was red in the face. They wanted to help, but didn't know where to start.

The surrounding pet owners also divided into two camps. One side supported the doctor, believing that procedures were important.

The other side felt that Jiang Feng was right—saving a life was paramount, and one couldn't care about so many rules and regulations.

Just at that moment.

"Make way! Please make way!"

The crowd was parted again by a voice.

That blue figure rushed back once more.

It was still that Delivery Rider.

But this time, his face was no longer filled with panic, but with wild joy.

He was clutching a crumpled piece of paper in his hand as if it were a life-saving prescription.

"Master! You're amazing! You really are amazing!"

The Delivery Rider rushed in front of Jiang Feng, his speech somewhat incoherent.

He bowed to Jiang Feng.

"I told the doctors it was daffodil poisoning. They were skeptical, but they immediately induced vomiting in the cat anyway! It's true! There really were flower fragments in what it threw up!"

He held up the lab report in his hand as if displaying a medal of honor.

"The lab results are out too! It's confirmed! It was just like you said... Lycorine poisoning! The cat has already been injected with the antidote, and the doctor says it's out of danger!"

The Delivery Rider was almost shouting.

He turned around, his red eyes fixed on Wang Hao.

He rushed over in a few strides and shoved the lab report, still warm from his body heat, right into Wang Hao's face.

"Doctor! Didn't you say you needed a full-body checkup?!"

"Didn't you say the Master was irresponsible?!"

"The Master knew what the problem was at a single glance! Your instruments, your procedures—they aren't even as accurate as the Master's eyes!"

On the lab report, in black and white, it was printed clearly.

【Toxicological analysis results: Sample toxin matches Lycorine with 98.7% accuracy】

【Diagnostic suggestion: Treat according to alkaloid poisoning standards】

Those lines of scientific text left Wang Hao speechless.

He stared at the report, and the hand holding it dropped.

The knowledge system he was so proud of, the scientific procedures he firmly believed in, were negated by a thin piece of paper.

He looked up at the young man leaning against the luxury car, who wore no expression.

In his expression, there was no longer contempt. Replacing it was an incomprehensible shock and a fear of the unknown.

Science, actually lost?

Lost to a "charlatan" who didn't even have a practicing license?

The Delivery Rider ignored him.

He ran back to Jiang Feng again, took out a worn-out wallet from his pocket, and emptied all the cash inside.

It was crumpled, adding up to just two or three hundred yuan.

"Master, I know this money isn't enough... but this is all I have right now. When I get my salary, I will definitely..."

Jiang Feng waved his hand, interrupting him.

He did not take the money.

"Go back. The cat still needs someone to take care of it."

Jiang Feng's voice was very calm.

"Don't keep flowers in the house recklessly in the future."

The Delivery Rider's eyes turned red again.

He put the money back, and gave Jiang Feng another deep, ninety-degree bow.

Then, he turned and ran quickly back to the hospital.

Wang Hao stood there in a daze, and the surrounding voices that had once supported him now turned into noise discussing him.

"My god, he really called it!"

"This isn't fortune-telling; this is a living CT scanner!"

"It's a good thing the Delivery Rider believed the Master, otherwise that little cat would be gone."

Under the gaze of everyone, Wang Hao and his two equally stunned Interns slunk back into the hospital building.

Their figures looked utterly pathetic.

【Ding! Valid fortune-telling count: 2/3】

Jiang Feng did not move.

The crisis was resolved, and the noise started up again.

The young veterinarian's defeat became the best advertisement for Jiang Feng.

The pet owners who had been watching from the sidelines just a moment ago swarmed forward, surrounding Jiang Feng and his lexus.

"Master! Master! Look at mine!"

"Look at mine first! I'll pay twenty thousand!"

"Master! My cat hasn't eaten or drunk anything for days. Please, take a look at it!"

Anxious faces, eager eyes, and the sounds of various cats and dogs mixed into the crowd made the scene descend into chaos.

Old Chen immediately stepped forward, spread his arms, and blocked the front of Jiang Feng. His muscular build and cold, hard expression were more effective than any words.

The restless crowd was forcibly restrained.

"Everyone, quiet down." Jiang Feng finally spoke.

He took off his gold-rimmed glasses and slowly wiped them with a velvet cloth.

"Here, I have my own rules."

He put his glasses back on and swept his gaze across the crowd.

"Today, only one fortune-telling remains."

Once these words were spoken, the crowd exploded into an uproar, with everyone wanting to seize this last opportunity.

Jiang Feng ignored those waving money.

His gaze passed over face after face, finally landing on the edge of the crowd.

There, a Bald Brother with a thumb-thick gold chain was standing, looking impatient.

On his shoulder stood a macaw with gorgeous feathers and a huge size.

The parrot was tilting its head, using its black-bean-like eyes to size up this farce.

Jiang Feng's finger pointed in that direction.

"You're the one."

The crowd looked in the direction he pointed and automatically parted a path.

The Bald Brother was stunned for a moment, pointing at himself and then at the parrot on his shoulder.

Jiang Feng nodded.

"You don't need to come over. I'll go over."

As he spoke, Jiang Feng actually took the initiative to walk down the steps, pass through the crowd, and arrive in front of the Bald Brother.

Everyone held their breath, wanting to see what mystery this last fortune-telling held.

The Bald Brother looked at Jiang Feng, who had walked up to him, with a hint of wariness in his eyes.

"Master, what are you looking at me for? My bird is perfectly fine. It eats and sleeps well; it's healthier than I am."

Jiang Feng's gaze did not look at him, but stared directly at the macaw on his shoulder.

The parrot shrank its neck and buried its head into its wings.

Jiang Feng's lips moved slightly, and he spoke.

"It is physically healthy."

"It's just that this bird of yours... has it been talking a bit too much lately?"

Upon hearing this, the impatience on the Bald Brother's face vanished.
