75: Chapter 75 A Mirror Without Air

The eyes of everyone in the instrument room were fixed on Jiang Feng.

Qian Li held his breath.

Fang Zhenxue also pricked up his ears.

This was the question they most wanted to know the answer to.

Jiang Feng pulled his hands out of his trouser pockets and brushed off non-existent dust.

"When I look at a person, I don't look at what they have done in the past, nor do I look at what they might do in the future."

He met Liu Zhenbang's gaze.

"I only look at whether that spirit within them is still there."

Jiang Feng grinned, revealing a mouthful of white teeth.

"Your spirit is stronger than all the people in white lab coats in this building combined."

His words choked Fang Zhenxue, who had just begun to develop a little sense of awe for him.

But this time, Fang Zhenxue did not dare to retort.

A glimmer of light ignited in Liu Zhenbang's eyes.

He looked at Jiang Feng for a long time, then nodded heavily and smiled.

It was the smile of someone who had unburdened himself of a weight carried for decades.

Jiang Feng had no interest in participating in this touching scene of "national treasure reuniting."

He only had one thought in his mind: hurry up and finish with the third one, collect the money, and clock out.

He turned to face Qian Li.

"Consultant Qian, the person has been found; two-thirds of my work is complete."

"Where is the last one? Let's make it quick."

Qian Li finally regained his composure from the immense shock.

He immediately gave Fang Zhenxue a look.

Fang Zhenxue understood immediately and stepped forward, respectfully speaking to Liu Zhenbang with a gesture nearly amounting to helping him walk.

"Elder Liu, let's go to the reception room to talk in detail. There are still many technical details about the Pangu Project that I would like to consult you about."

Liu Zhenbang glanced at Jiang Feng, then looked at the juniors who were flushed with excitement, and nodded.

The group returned to the reception room.

This time, it was Liu Zhenbang who sat in the main seat.

Jiang Feng continued to do as he pleased, placing his small stool in the corner, sitting down, and adopting a posture that said, "You all chat, I'm waiting to clock off."

Qian Li dared not be negligent.

He personally took the last folder from his secretary, walked quickly to Jiang Feng, bowed slightly, and presented it with both hands.

"Consultant Jiang, please take a look."

His tone was more solemn than ever before.

"Dr. Lu Cheng, her main area of expertise is artificial intelligence and behavioral psychology, and her resume is flawless."

Qian Li's voice paused, as if searching for the most appropriate adjective.

"She is hailed as the most beautiful scientist."

Jiang Feng took the thin document.

He flipped to the first page.

An ID photo.

The woman in the photo was less than thirty years old, with a standard smile that showed no flaws.

But as Jiang Feng stared at the photo, a strange feeling arose in his heart.

It was too standard, so standard that it felt fake.

"Let her come in."

Jiang Feng closed the folder and tossed it back onto the table.

Qian Li nodded and gave an order into the communicator.

A few minutes later, the door to the reception room was pushed open.

Lu Cheng walked in.

She was wearing an off-white professional suit, her steps were composed, and her face wore the exact same smile as in the photo.

"Consultant Qian, Professor Fang, hello."

"This must be Consultant Jiang, right? I have heard so much about you."

Her voice was gentle and pleasant to hear.

The young researchers who had been called in by Fang Zhenxue to listen in stopped breathing for a split second the moment they saw Lu Cheng, their faces showing expressions of admiration.

She naturally attracted everyone's attention.

Fang Zhenxue's previous suspicion and vigilance dissipated for the most part when he saw Lu Cheng in person.

He took the initiative to ask a few professional questions about the "Turing Test" and "deep learning algorithm bottlenecks."

Lu Cheng answered fluently; not only were her answers precise, but she could also draw inferences and propose several viewpoints that even Fang Zhenxue found refreshing.

Her speech, her knowledge, and even her grasp of the atmosphere and everyone's emotions were impeccable.

Fang Zhenxue looked at Qian Li and nodded approvingly.

Even Liu Zhenbang, who had been silent, showed a hint of appreciation in his eyes.

Jiang Feng sat in the corner, not saying a word from start to finish.

The moment Lu Cheng entered, he activated Gazing at Qi and Observing Fortune.

Then.

He saw a sight that made his spine chill.

Nothing.

There was nothing.

Lu Cheng's body was clean, a void.

There was no golden Qi like Lin Tianyu had.

There was no purple Qi like Liu Zhenbang had.

There wasn't even the white and gray that ordinary researchers should have.

She herself was a blank slate.

All the affinity and sense of wisdom she exuded were not her own.

They were merely her precisely capturing and reflecting the emotions and expectations of the people around her.

Fang Zhenxue expected to see a genius, so she acted like a genius.

The young researchers expected to see a goddess, so she displayed the charm of a goddess.

"Consultant Jiang?"

Qian Li's voice interrupted Jiang Feng's train of thought.

Everyone had finished their discussion, and now it was his turn, as the final interviewer, to express his opinion.

Everyone in the reception room focused their gaze on Jiang Feng.

Jiang Feng was silent for a long time.

He stood up and walked to the center of the room.

He looked at Lu Cheng's flawless face, and then, he said one sentence.

"The person you are interviewing is not a human."

"It is a piece of software, a perfect anthropomorphic algorithm."

Fang Zhenxue had just picked up his teacup, and his hand froze in mid-air.

The admiration on the faces of the young researchers turned into astonishment and confusion.

The smile on Qian Li's face also disappeared.

The perfect smile on Lu Cheng's face froze for the first time.

But it was only for a split second.

She quickly returned to her normal state, looking at Jiang Feng with intense curiosity in her eyes.

"Mr. Jiang's evaluation is very unique."

Her voice remained gentle.

"Could you explain that in more detail?"

Jiang Feng looked straight at her.

"I'll cast a divination for you."

Jiang Feng began.

"I won't predict your future, nor will I calculate your past."

"I will only calculate what you did last night, from seven to eight, while you were home alone."

You could hear a pin drop in the reception room.

Everyone felt that Jiang Feng's entry point was too tricky, even somewhat offensive.

The smile on Lu Cheng's face did not change at all.

She answered calmly.

"Consultant Jiang is joking."

"Last night, I was of course preparing the relevant materials for today's interview."

This answer was impeccable.

Fang Zhenxue and Qian Li both nodded subconsciously.

Jiang Feng, however, shook his head.

"Wrong."

He looked at Lu Cheng, spitting out the words one by one.

"You were sitting in a dark room with no lights on."

"In front of you, there was a laptop."

"You had no expression on your face, watching a documentary about children who dropped out of school in poverty-stricken mountainous areas, over and over again."

The smile in Lu Cheng's eyes faded slightly.

Jiang Feng did not stop.

"You weren't looking at the content."

"You were learning and imitating the micro-expressions of concern and heartache on the faces of the volunteer mothers who came to visit in the video when they saw the children crying."

Jiang Feng's voice echoed in the deathly silent reception room.

"You paused, rewound, and zoomed in on the image."

"You were... installing emotional modules for yourself."

The moment his words fell.

The perfect smile on Lu Cheng's face disappeared completely.

She was not panicked, not angry, and not embarrassed at being exposed.

She just looked at Jiang Feng.

With a research-oriented gaze devoid of any emotion.

She clapped her hands three times, gently.

"Truly impressive."

Her voice lost its previous gentleness, becoming flat, like a straight line without any fluctuations.

"You are the first one I have encountered."

"Someone who can see through the mirror."
