28: Chapter 28 The House-Buying Turmoil: Why Does This Villa Feel So Cold?

"Boss, are we heading out?" Old Chen stood at the living room doorway, dressed in a new black tracksuit.

"Yeah, to buy a house." Jiang Feng replied.

The black lexus lm drove out of the basement garage.

Old Chen drove very steadily; inside the car, there was only the sound of the air conditioning blowing.

Forty minutes later, the car stopped at the entrance of the Longhu Mountain Villa sales center.

The sales center was an antique-style Chinese courtyard with two stone lions at the entrance.

The receptionist at the entrance saw the unplated lexus lm, ran over quickly, and bent down to open the car door.

"Welcome to Longhu Mountain Villa."

Jiang Feng got out of the car wearing a mask and a baseball cap.

A female sales representative in a suit skirt walked up to greet them.

"Hello, sir. My name is Wang Qian, and I am the sales manager here. You were the one who called earlier, right?"

"Yeah." Jiang Feng nodded. "Take me to see some houses. I want the quietest, most secluded one, furthest away from any neighbors."

Wang Qian's expression was somewhat surprised.

Clients who came here usually liked to choose the 'king of buildings' with good locations and excellent feng shui; wanting the most secluded one was a first.

She immediately responded, "Very well, sir. We happen to have one unit here that perfectly matches your requirements."

She took Jiang Feng and Old Chen onto a sightseeing electric cart.

The cart drove through the green trees, circled around several artificial lakes, and finally stopped at the tip of a peninsula extending into the center of the lake.

Before them stood a standalone Chinese-style villa with white walls, black tiles, and a large courtyard.

The courtyard was overgrown with weeds; it hadn't been tended to in a long time.

The villa was surrounded by the lake on three sides, with only one road leading in.

"Sir, this is it, Guanhu Residence." Wang Qian took out the key and opened the carved wooden door.

A blast of damp, chilly air rushed out from inside.

Old Chen stepped forward, blocking in front of Jiang Feng.

Jiang Feng patted his arm and walked inside himself.

The house was in its raw state, with only cement walls and floors.

The floor-to-ceiling windows faced the lake, and because of the angle of the sunlight, it was a bit dark inside.

Jiang Feng took a breath; the chilly air entered his nasal cavity, and the throbbing pain in his head eased accordingly.

This place was not bad.

"Sir, this house covers three mu of land with a building area of 1,200 square meters." Wang Qian followed him in, rubbing her hands. "It's just that... this house is a bit special."

Jiang Feng turned back to look at her.

"Speak."

"The previous owners of this house all..." Wang Qian lowered her voice, "all met with misfortune."

"The first owner was the boss of an internet company. Less than half a year after moving in, his company's capital chain snapped, and he went bankrupt."

"The second owner was a married couple who were very close. Three months after moving in, they started fighting for a divorce, and their family assets were all lost in lawsuits."

"The third owner, which was the previous one, bought it but never lived in it. They said they hired a master to take a look, who claimed the yin energy here was too heavy and it was a feng shui layout that caused financial ruin. They tried to sell it immediately, but no one dared to take it."

After finishing, Wang Qian observed Jiang Feng's reaction.

She shouldn't have told a client these things, but she saw that Jiang Feng and his bodyguard didn't seem like ordinary people, so she didn't dare to hide it.

Jiang Feng heard this and smiled.

He wasn't on mission time right now, so he couldn't calculate feng shui.

But he had money, and this yin energy could alleviate his pain.

"How much?"

Wang Qian was stunned. "Sir, did you not understand what I meant? This house is inauspicious..."

"I asked, how much." Jiang Feng repeated.

"The... the original price was 100 million. The previous owner was anxious to sell and quoted 50 million. It never sold, so the current listing price is 30 million." Wang Qian reported the price.

"8 million." Jiang Feng held up eight fingers. "Full payment, pay now."

Wang Qian's mouth fell open and didn't close for a moment. "Sir... you're not joking, right? 8 million... that's not even enough to cover the construction costs."

"Then I won't buy it." Jiang Feng turned and walked away.

He just felt that it was comfortable here, but it wasn't a must-buy.

"Hey! Sir, wait!" Wang Qian hurriedly chased after him. This house was the unsold unit of the entire development; it had been stuck in their hands for years, and the annual maintenance fees alone were a huge sum.

If she could sell it, even at a loss, it would be a huge achievement for her.

"Sir, 8 million is too low. I can't make that decision; I have to apply to our director."

"I'll give you five minutes." Jiang Feng stood in the courtyard, looking at the lake.

Three minutes later, she hung up the phone, ran back, and said, "Sir! Our director... our boss agreed!"

An hour later, all the contracts were signed.

Jiang Feng swiped his card to pay, 8 million.

Wang Qian looked at the receipt, still a bit dazed.

A luxury villa worth over 100 million had been sold at such a low price.

The villa keys were handed to Jiang Feng, and Wang Qian left with her team, expressing endless gratitude.

The peninsula in the center of the lake suddenly became quiet, leaving only Jiang Feng and Old Chen.

The setting sun shone through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting light and shadows on the floor.

Jiang Feng walked into the empty hall and lay down in the center.

The coolness of the cement floor seeped through his t-shirt, alleviating the heat in his body.

He rested his head on his arms, looking at the ceiling.

No missions, no patients, no crowds of onlookers.

Only the lake breeze and the sound of his own breathing.

This was really nice.

No need to scheme, no need to act, just solve problems with money when they arise.

So, the happiness of the rich was really this simple.

"Boss." Old Chen walked in, carrying two takeout boxes. "I bought two boxed meals."

Jiang Feng sat up from the floor, crossing his legs.

The two of them sat on the cement floor in this empty hall, eating 15-yuan boxed meals.

"Old Chen." Jiang Feng poked at his rice.

"Yeah."

"Here." Jiang Feng transferred some money to Old Chen using his phone.

Old Chen's phone chimed. He took it out to look, and his hand shook.

Transfer amount: 100,000.

"Boss, this is too much." Old Chen's voice was a bit dry.

"Go buy furniture." Jiang Feng said. "Beds, sofas, tables, chairs. There's only one standard: it must be soft. The softer, the better. Whatever is comfortable."

"I'm not short on money, but my body can't handle hard things."

Old Chen looked at Jiang Feng's pale face and was silent for a moment.

"Alright." He put away his phone and finished his meal.

That night.

Old Chen didn't know where he got a large air mattress, but he laid it out in the master bedroom.

Jiang Feng took a shower and lay down on it.

This was the most peaceful sleep he had had in months.

In the middle of the night.

"Ding-dongβ€”"

The doorbell suddenly rang, sounding exceptionally abrupt in the empty villa.

Jiang Feng opened his eyes.

Old Chen had already silently appeared at the bedroom doorway, holding a wrench he had dug out from the car's toolbox.

"I'll go check it out." Old Chen said in a low voice.

"Together." Jiang Feng got out of bed and threw on a jacket.

The two walked to the entryway.

On the surveillance screen, two people were standing at the door.

An old lady with a full head of silver hair was leaning on a dragon-headed cane, and beside her was a Little boy wearing a small suit and a bow tie.

It was Old Mrs. Shen and Shen Xiaobao.

Old Chen looked at Jiang Feng.

Jiang Feng frowned and went to open the door.

"Master Jiang, excuse the intrusion, and congratulations on your housewarming." Old Mrs. Shen said with a smile.

Shen Xiaobao poked his head out from behind the old lady, looking around the house: "Head-petting uncle, your house is so big, but why is there nothing in it?"

"Something up?" Jiang Feng blocked the doorway.

"Don't be nervous." Old Mrs. Shen tapped the floor with her cane. "This developer is an industry of the Shen Family. You bought the house, and I knew about it right after."

She stopped smiling, leaned forward, and whispered into Jiang Feng's ear.

"I didn't come to offer congratulations."

The old lady lowered her voice, "I came to tell you about something strange."
