Chapter 128: Arix’s Wish
Chapter 128: Arix’s Wish
Arix sat at the table in a small yard, looking absolutely stunned. Her eyes were wide as she stared at Cassian. "Are you serious? Your father really promised to grant me a wish?"
"Yep," Cassian confirmed with a nod. Then, with a slight frown, he added, "My dad is so tight-fisted, though—just one wish. If it were up to me, I’d give you three, Arix."
Arix felt a bit awkward. She scratched her head and chuckled, "One is plenty. More than enough, really."
Since finding out Cassian was the crown prince, Drexel had been sitting in a chair, deep in thought. But hearing Arix, he snapped back to reality and looked at her with keen interest. "Arix, you actually have a wish?"
"Yeah, and it’s a really good one," Arix said, her eyes softening as she thought about her time with Mama Tiger. Just the memory made her feel warm inside.
"What is it? Do you want the Alliance and the Empire to never go to war again?" Drexel suggested. He thought that would be the best wish. If they avoided war, aside from dealing with the insectoids, the universe would be a much more peaceful place.
"That’s unnecessary. As long as I’m around, the Empire won’t start a war with the Alliance," Cassian stated confidently, his voice carrying the weight of his future role. He then looked at Arix kindly, "Arix, ask for something you really want."
Drexel threw a disdainful glance at the overly affectionate Cassian but stayed quiet, considering his earlier statement.
"Thanks, Cassian," Arix said, feeling a bit more at ease. His words had reassured her.
Cassian smiled at her, nodding encouragingly.
"My wish is for the Empire’s Celesterrors to be under the same special protection regulations as the Alliance’s," Arix said, her claws nervously gripping the table.
Both Drexel and Cassian were shocked. They couldn’t understand why Arix would wish for that.
Drexel felt a pang of disappointment. "Arix, if you don’t have a wish, you could give the chance to me. I could use a Supergiant-Class mecha."
"Arix, your brother’s right. A Supergiant-Class mecha would be great too," Cassian chimed in. He thought this wish was a waste for Arix, offering no personal gain. Even though it was his father who had to fulfill the wish, Cassian wanted Arix to get the most out of it and not hold back.
Arix gave an exasperated look at her brother before shaking her head at Cassian. "No, my wish is exactly this."
"Arix, can I ask why?" Cassian didn’t push further, figuring he could always ask his father for something good for her later.
Arix smiled, lost in thought for a moment. "When I first came to the Empire, a Celesterror tiger helped me out. I want to repay that kindness."
Hearing this, Drexel and Cassian understood there was no changing her mind. Gratitude and repaying kindness were core to who Arix was. Asking her to be ungrateful would be tougher than defeating Quispe—at least that had some hope.
Drexel sighed deeply, choosing not to argue. Cassian, already scheming a backup plan, smiled and gently patted Arix’s fluffy head. "Alright, I respect your decision."
"Thanks," Arix nodded, returning his smile.
Drexel watched Cassian’s hand on Arix’s head with obvious displeasure, his intense gaze practically burning a hole through it. Cassian noticed Drexel’s murderous glare and, out of respect for Arix, reluctantly withdrew his hand.
Satisfied, Drexel smirked and sat back down, relishing his role as the universe’s biggest third wheel. ’I’m a third wheel, and I’m proud of it!’
Cassian was clearly annoyed. If it weren’t for Arix, he wouldn’t spend a second with Drexel. ’I need to come up with something,’ he thought. Finally seeing Arix again, he couldn’t let this nuisance hang around.
Cassian’s lips curled into a sly smile as he recalled some information from his investigations. He had an idea.
"Hey, Drexel," Cassian said, sounding unusually friendly, "I remember you like playing holographic mecha battles on the interstellarnet, right?"
"So what?" Drexel shot Cassian a disdainful look, lifting one eyelid. ’This guy is up to something again. You think I don’t know? Hmph, let’s see what you’ve got.’
Cassian, more confident now, pulled out a top-tier Connective Pod, a rare model gifted to the royal family. Casually, he said, "I have a top-of-the-line series Connective Pod. Interested?"
Drexel, who had been lounging with his legs crossed, opened one eye slightly at first.
When he saw it was the limited-edition Connective Pod he had only dreamed of, his eyes widened. As he stared at it, he could barely hold back his excitement.
This was the one he had only ever seen from a distance, never having the chance to touch.
"...Um, yes, I’m interested." Drexel’s eyes were glued to the irresistible dream machine. He couldn’t say no.
"Then it’s yours to play with," Cassian said generously, a broad smile spreading across his face.
Drexel swallowed hard, pointing incredulously at the Connective Pod. "Are you serious? You’re giving it to me?"
Cassian nodded, still smiling.
Drexel took a deep breath. His opinion of Cassian changed in an instant. ’This isn’t some scheming brat; this is a genuinely generous guy!’
"Want to try it out? If anything’s wrong, I can get you another one," Cassian encouraged, his enthusiasm evident.
"Okay, okay, I’m heading out. You two have a good chat, take your time. Bye!" Drexel swiftly packed up the Connective Pod and vanished in an instant, completely forgetting about his sister.
Cassian watched Drexel disappear and couldn’t help but chuckle. ’Well, that’s one way to get rid of a third wheel,’ he thought to himself.
Turning back to Arix, he felt a wave of relief. Finally, some alone time.
"So, Arix, now that it’s just us, how have you been?" he asked warmly, genuinely curious about her well-being.
Arix watched silently as Cassian performed. She waited until Drexel finally left before bursting into laughter.
"Don’t you feel bad? You just gave away a Connective Pod worth millions," Arix said, amused.
Arix knew Cassian had sent Drexel away just because he found him annoying. But giving away such a pricey gadget seemed extreme.
"If you like it, I can give you one too. Oh, and I brought that car you mentioned earlier," Cassian said, first pulling out a Connective Pod and then rummaging in his Space Button for the car.
"What car?" Arix was confused, not having had the chance to refuse before Cassian’s last comment threw her off.
"The car I promised to give you when we were on our way to the auction," Cassian replied. He soon revealed an shining Lev, crafted from a Supergiant-Class insectoid shell.
Seeing the high-end Lev, Arix finally remembered. Her fingers trembled as she pointed at the Lev, asking, "Is this really the car made from a Supergiant-Class insectoid shell?"
"Yes, do you like it? It’s yours," Cassian said warmly, without a hint of hesitation.
Arix gasped, shaking her head quickly. "No way, it’s too expensive. I can’t accept it."
The car was worth more than she could ever dream of affording.
"But Arix, you already said you’d take it," Cassian said, feigning a hurt expression.
"I said that because I didn’t think you actually had it," Arix replied, still stunned that Cassian was the heir to the Empire.
"So, can you accept it?" Cassian asked, looking at her with his captivating golden eyes, as if her refusal would break his heart.
Arix was speechless.
After a long pause, Arix sighed, taking out ten psychic power healing potions she had prepared for Cassian. "Arix, what’s this?" Cassian asked, puzzled.
"These are Supergiant-Class psychic power healing potions. They’re not a perfect match for your Supergiant+ level, but they’re the best I can make right now. They should be enough to save your life. Since you’ve given me such precious gifts, you have to accept my little token of appreciation," Arix said seriously.
These ten potions had cost Arix all her savings. She had made them out of concern for Cassian, worried that she might not be around to help him in a month’s time when she returned to the Alliance. This way, she could leave knowing he would be okay.
Cassian didn’t know the depth of Arix’s feelings behind this gesture. Seeing her determined face, he smiled slightly and said, "Alright, thank you, Arix."
Watching Cassian accept the gift without hesitation, Arix finally smiled with satisfaction and then stored away the Connective Pod and the car.
