After a moment, Mr. Kering sighed and exchanged a look with Zeta, who nodded in agreement.

Matis turned to the people of the Empire and said, "I understand your difficulties, but ultimately, it depends on her own wishes. If Arix agrees, she’ll be part of both the Kering family of the Alliance, and the Tiger clan of the Empire."

"Great, thank you for your generosity," Faelan quickly replied, eager to seal the deal and offered an abundance of praise.

Alpha Leonidas, seeing the discussion winding down, felt his presence was no longer necessary. He had only been there as a witness, and he was ready to wrap things up.

Just as he was about to turn off his end of the holographic video, Luna Amethyst tugged at his sleeve, giving him a meaningful look and whispering, "Our future in-laws might be here, be polite."

Alpha Leonidas’ hand pulsed mid-air.

Taking a deep breath, Alpha Leonidas forced a stiff smile. His eyes, trying to appear gentle, still held a cold, sharp edge as he looked at the people of the Alliance, especially the Kering family.

The Kering family, chatting "amiably" with the Tiger clan, froze under Alpha Leonidas’s gaze.

They thought he was displeased with the outcome. Even Zeta, the president of the Alliance, seemed a bit shaky.

Everyone worried that if something went wrong, a war might erupt between the Alliance and the Empire today.

The Tiger clan also thought Alpha Leonidas was unhappy with the result. They had never seen such a terrifying expression on his face. ’Is he so angry that he’s lost his sanity? Is that why his features look so twisted?’



As the Tiger clan members pondered whether they should try to calm Alpha Leonidas down, he suddenly spoke, "For your generosity, the Empire will not initiate war against the Alliance for the next hundred years. Additionally, the Aqualis Region will still be given to the Alliance as a gesture of goodwill from the Empire."

With that, Alpha Leonidas immediately disconnected the holographic video.

Away from prying eyes, Alpha Leonidas stared blankly at Luna Amethyst.

She knew exactly what he was thinking. He almost messed up the act and still wanted praise.

Smiling and shaking her head with a sigh, Luna Amethyst ruffled Alpha Leonidas’s hair, saying, "My dear Leo, well done."

Hearing what he wanted, Alpha Leonidas nodded reservedly, a visible smile curving his lips.

Meanwhile, the Alliance members, still in the holographic meeting, were left stunned by Alpha Leonidas’s words for quite a while.

But once the situation sank in, both Zeta and the Kering family members shifted from initial reluctance to more joyful expressions.

Losing the ten mechas paled compared to having the ruler of the Empire personally promise not to initiate war for a hundred years. This assurance was worth far more than the mechas and even the Aqualis Region.

In the end, this international meeting wrapped up on a high note, with both sides getting satisfactory answers.

Now, it all hinged on Arix’s decision. Both sides agreed to honor her choice, whatever it might be.

After the meeting, Krylak sent an urgent message to Arix’s opticomputer, asking her to come to the conference room immediately.

Meanwhile, Arix had just seen Cassian off and was about to head back to her villa when she got the message.

Frowning, she figured Krylak had something important to discuss and quickly made her way to the conference room.

When she entered, she was surprised to see her grandfather and the others there.

Arix paused for a moment, then greeted everyone from both the Alliance and the Empire.

Thanks to the language converter, the Alliance members understood her perfectly this time.

Everyone present nodded appreciatively. There was nothing more likable than a talented and polite junior.

After the greetings, they got down to business. Both the Alliance and Empire members looked towards Zeta to start the conversation. Given his high position and lack of direct relation to Arix, he was the natural choice to lead the discussion.



Zeta coughed and thought to himself, ’Being the president is tough enough for me; and now it even comes down to handling these sorts of delicate family matters?’

Taking a deep breath, Zeta put on a friendly smile and spoke softly to Arix, "Arix, how would you feel about taking on an additional role?"

"An additional role?" Arix’s round, tiger-like eyes looked at Zeta curiously.

"Ahem, let me be clearer." Matis shot a glance at Zeta, unhappy with his vague approach.

Zeta wanted to snap back at Matis, ’If you think you can do better, go ahead!’ but he refraied himself.

Seeing Zeta’s troubled expression, Arix wasn’t sure what he wanted to say but kindly helped him out, "Sir, it’s okay. You can just tell me."

Zeta was moved. ’What a considerate and understanding child she is, so different from her often troublesome grandfather.’

Zeta didn’t waste any more time. He directly explained what had just transpired, including Alpha Leonidas’s promise.

"Arix, if you agree, you’ll still be Arix in the Alliance, but in the Empire, you’ll become a cub of the Tiger clan family. If you don’t want to, that’s fine too. We respect your decision, so don’t feel pressured." Zeta gave her a reassuring smile.

Understanding what Zeta meant, Arix tilted her head and blinked, thinking it over. This really did mean taking on an additional role.

If Arix decided to join the Tiger clan now, it could pave the way for a genuine friendship between the Empire and the Alliance. Plus, the Alliance would gain control of the Aqualis Region. The Tiger clan would also put their worries about pureblood cubs to rest.

If Arix chose not to join, the Alliance wouldn’t lose much. However, the Tiger clan would likely face tough times ahead.

After an afternoon of Cassian explaining things, Arix realized just how vital a pureblood cub is to a therian clan. The Empire’s therians all worship the Moon Goddess, and a pureblood cub, also known as a divine child, is considered Her offspring.

A therian family without a pureblood cub is seen as forsaken by the Moon Goddess. If it weren’t for the Tiger clan’s privilege of having members serve as Pontifex at the Moon Goddess Temple, they would have been weakened or even taken over by other families, especially the Dragon clan, which has always been greedy for others’ wealth.

Lately, since the Tiger clan hasn’t had a pureblood cub, the Dragon clan has been more open about their ambitions. If the Tiger clan shows any sign of weakness, the Dragon clan would likely pounce.

After thinking it over, Arix looked up and said, "I am willing to join the Tiger clan."

"Great!" Krylak was unable to contain his excitement upon hearing Arix’s answer. He jumped up and announced, "I, Krylak, the 72nd head of the Tiger clan, declare that from today, Arix is the pureblood cub of the Tiger clan!"

As soon as he finished speaking, everyone in the conference room began clapping. Amidst the applause, Thaddeus and Fleur looked at Arix with tears of pride and joy in their eyes.



Thus, Arix became the pureblood cub of the Tiger clan.

The Tiger clan members, upon hearing the news, celebrated with great enthusiasm.

Fireworks lit up the dark night sky.

In the villa’s study, Arix perched by the window, lifting her little head to gaze at the night sky. Countless fireworks shot into the sky, bursting into blooms of red, yellow, and green. The fireworks, like falling stars, seemed almost within reach.

Scion tidied up the desk, then quietly walked over to Arix. He stood by her side in silence, watching the fireworks outside the window.

"Scion," Arix suddenly said, her eyes still glued to the colorful display in the sky.

"Hm?" Scion turned his attention to her, puzzled, as she continued to stare at the fireworks.

Arix then looked up at Scion, her face a mix of curiosity and concern. "Did you want to be the next Pontifex, Scion?"

In the past, Arix would never have questioned this. But after learning about the fate of a pureblood cub, she wondered if Scion had really chosen his path voluntarily.

Scion stayed silent for a long moment before replying, "Probably not at the time."

He looked up at the fireworks; memories of a young boy crying by a small lake flashed through his mind. That boy, who didn’t want to become the next Pontifex but couldn’t defy his parents, felt utterly lost.
