Chapter 215: Humiliation

The woman glanced up as Arix walked in.

Their eyes met briefly. The woman gave Arix a polite nod, but there was no warmth in it.

Arix wasn’t surprised by her new roommate’s chilly vibe. After all, they were kind of like rivals. If they could manage not to get in each other’s way, that would be a win.

Arix returned the nod, then moved past the living room and opened the door to the bedroom that had her name on it.

The room was simple and not too big, about 15 square meters. It had the basics: a bed, a desk, and a small wardrobe.

Arix thought about letting Cupid and the others out to play but quickly remembered their constant displays of affection in the psychic world. She rolled her eyes, thinking she’d had enough of their lovey-dovey antics for one day.

With a tired sigh, she started unpacking. She put away her daily essentials, toiletries, bed linens, and clothes. Just as she was about to flop onto the bed, she heard a knock on the door.

Surprised, Arix raised an eyebrow and walked over to open it. Standing there was a girl she hadn’t seen before.

This girl wasn’t the one from the living room. Arix guessed she must be one of the other two roommates in Room 505.

She had delicate features and was a head taller than Arix. There was something rare and asexuality about her beauty. But what caught Arix off guard was the strange, almost obsessive way the girl was staring at her, like a star-struck fan.

Though Arix couldn’t deny the girl was attractive, the intensity of her gaze made Arix uncomfortable, like she was being sized up as someone’s possession.



Feeling a bit uneasy, Arix frowned slightly but still managed to ask politely, "Is there something you need?"

The girl snapped out of her daze at Arix’s question. Then, with a haughty tilt of her chin, she introduced herself, "I’m Quinnie. I’m in the room next to yours. I really like you. Let’s be friends."

Arix frowned even more at Quinnie’s tone, as if being friends with her was some sort of grand privilege. She couldn’t help wondering if this girl was a bit off.

After a few seconds of internal debate, Arix put on a polite smile and replied, "Sorry, my mom told me not to get too close with strangers."

Quinnie was unfazed by Arix’s refusal. She just shrugged as if she’d seen it coming. "You reject people, just like before," she remarked with a knowing look. "But I’m not here to ask for your opinion. From now on, I, Quinnie, am your friend."

With that, she turned and strolled back to her room, not leaving Arix any room to disagree.

Arix stood there, confused and a bit thrown off. ’Can you really just decide you’re friends with someone without their say?’

Arix was puzzled but didn’t let it bother her too much. She closed her door and got ready for bed. Tomorrow marked the start of some intense training, and she knew she needed to be well-rested.

In the next room, Quinnie answered the persistent ringing of her opticomputer, her expression turning sour at the sight of a blue-haired, red-eyed young man on the screen.

"Hardy, you’re a real pain, you know that?" she said, not hiding her irritation.

Hardy, caught off guard by Quinnie’s appearance in male attire, couldn’t reply right away. Then, as if something clicked in his mind, he perked up.

"Quispe, did you change your gender?" he asked, sounding a bit too eager.



If Quispe had become a woman, it meant he could never take the title of crown prince of the Insectoid race.

"Hmph, don’t get your hopes up," Quispe—now Quinnie—scoffed. "This is just a temporary disguise."

Hardy’s face fell in disappointment. Then, looking confused, he asked, "Aren’t you supposed to be in the male dorm? Why are you here? You didn’t need to go this far, even for a mission."

As he spoke, Hardy glanced at Quispe’s female guise with a mix of admiration and embarrassment, pondering how it reflected on the Insectoid royal family.

Quispe sneered. ’What do you know? If I hadn’t disguised myself as a girl, how could I have slipped into the girls’ dorm? And if I hadn’t made it here, how would I ever have a shot at becoming Arix’s roommate?’

But, of course, Quispe wasn’t about to spill the beans on his real plan.

Clearing his throat, he put on a serious face and said, "The guys’ dorm is packed with military students and special forces. The girls’ dorm is way quieter, which means it’ll be easier for me to move around and get things done without drawing too much attention."

Hardy shot Quispe a skeptical glance, but he had to admit, the reasoning made sense. Their mission was clear: find a way to take out the students getting in the mecha competition, with their first target being Arix. If Quispe stayed in the guys’ dorm, it would make things tricky and could tip off their targets. When he thought about it, the girls’ dorm really was the smarter choice.

"Fine," Hardy agreed, though he still looked uneasy. "But you better keep your identity under wraps. If you get caught, the queen’s agent in the Alliance’s high command is toast. And trust me, you do not want to tick off Her Majesty."

Quispe waved him off with a cocky grin. "When have I ever messed up?" he said before abruptly cutting the call.

Back in the insectoid empire, Hardy glared at the blank screen and sighed. "Let’s hope that’s true."

The next morning, Arix got dressed and opened her door, only to see that girl—Quinnie—again.

Just ignore her, just ignore her...



Arix tried to keep calm as she walked past "Quinnie" without even glancing her way.

"Hey, why are you ignoring me? I’ve been waiting out here for ages!" Quinnie complained, stepping right into Arix’s path with a pout.

Arix felt like her patience was hanging by a thread. ’Who even is this girl? And why should I care?’

But since they were stuck as roommates, Arix swallowed her irritation and forced a smile. "Do we know each other from before, Quinnie?"

"We didn’t know each other yesterday, but we definitely do now," Quinnie replied, flashing a look that practically said, ’You can’t get rid of me.’

She looked like a pet owner looking at her naughty kitten.

Arix’s eye twitched. ’Someone help me before I lose it!’

Completely oblivious to Arix’s rising annoyance, Quinnie kept babbling on.

"Arix, you’re lucky to have me as a friend."

"People would kill for this chance, but I wouldn’t give it to them."

"So, you better appreciate it, okay?"
