Chapter 174: Studying Mecha

Talrin was Bryndel’s third apprentice. Bryndel had two apprentices before, but they didn’t turn out great. So, Bryndel decided to keep a close watch on Talrin. Every day, he reminded Talrin to think about the good of the Alliance and told him to love the country.

Soon enough, Talrin became very patriotic, just like Bryndel wanted. But this new outlook made him dislike the Psychic Ware Association. He thought their cramming way of teaching was stifling the kids’ talents. So, Talrin started a new Psychic Ware Association. It was small, but the original Association felt insulted by it. The two groups became like enemies.

After Cirilla finished telling Bryndel’s story, Arix didn’t seem scared. Instead, she looked more interested and said, "Actually, that’s quite interesting."

Cirilla felt her warnings were backfiring, making Arix more curious. She wanted to shake some sense into Arix but knew she couldn’t interfere too much. She sighed and said, "Arix, from my point of view, becoming Bryndel’s apprentice is a big trap. Do you get what I mean?"

Cirilla looked at Arix nervously, waiting for her answer.

Arix didn’t reply right away. Instead, she suddenly asked, "Is Bryndel good at making Psychic Ware?"

Cirilla was puzzled by the question but answered honestly, "Bryndel is a Grandmaster. If he wasn’t good enough, he’d have locked up long ago for having two and a half bad apprentices."

"That’s good then. Cirilla, I’ve decided. I want to be his apprentice." Arix looked even more excited after hearing that Bryndel was a Grandmaster.

Cirilla almost yelled out, "Arix, this is really a big trap. Maybe you should think about it some more?" She still tried to persuade her friend.

"Arix, if someone had told you before fighting the insectoid queen that it was a hopeless trap and you shouldn’t go, would you listen?" Arix asked with a smile.

"No!" Cirilla replied instantly. She knew she wouldn’t know if she could beat the insectoid queen without trying.



Arix laughed softly and said, "So, Cirilla, let me try. Even if it’s a trap, I need to fall into it to know if it really hurts."

Cirilla couldn’t understand why Arix wanted to take such a risk, but she was impressed. She sighed and said, "Okay, if Bryndel tricks you, contact me. I know someone who can deal with him."

"Thanks, Cirilla. Let’s end it here for today. Goodbye," Arix said with a smile.

After ending the video call, Arix saw Bryndel’s friend request. She accepted it without much hesitation.

Bryndel: Hello, Arix. The Psychic Ware Master Association forced me into this. I hope you don’t mind.

As soon as Arix accepted the friend request, Bryndel eagerly sent a message. He was careful with his words, fearing Arix might reject him if she knew about his three previous apprentices.

Arix hadn’t met Bryndel, so she didn’t know much about him. But from how he treated his apprentices, she could tell he would be a good teacher.

He didn’t kick his apprentices out or disown them when they made mistakes. Instead, he even took the fall for them. Just for that, Arix felt lucky to be his apprentice.

Thinking this, Arix smiled and typed a serious message back.

Arix: Hello, sir. Your words make me feel very honored. I should be thanking you for taking me as your apprentice. I have heard about what has happened to your previous apprentices, but without knowing the details, I won’t ever judge. No matter what, I believe you are a great and reliable teacher.

Arix’s sincere words made Bryndel feel deeply touched, and his eyes filled with tears. He thought to himself, ’This girl does not seem like a troublemaker at all; she must be a sweet and considerate person!’

With such a good start to their conversation, Bryndel relaxed and asked Arix some questions about her knowledge of Psychic Ware. Once he understood her learning progress, Bryndel sent Arix a lot of books and notes.

"Arix, study these first. If you have any questions, contact me." Bryndel instructed carefully. He then said a quick goodbye to his new apprentice, as he had to continue working on Psychic Ware to repay his "debts."



Arix smiled and said goodbye to Bryndel. She then started going through the materials and notes he sent. When she came across the notes of the three previous apprentices, she paused for a moment and decided to open the notes of the third apprentice, Talrin, first.

The first sentence she saw made her eyes widen in disbelief.

"Could there be a connection between Psychic Incarnation and Psychic Ware? Can ordinary people have their own Psychic Incarnation? What forms can Psychic Incarnation take?"

Arix felt like a hungry scholar. She eagerly read through the notes of this person she had never met.

She wasn’t in a hurry to go back to her dorm. Instead, she found a random place to sit and read the astonishing notes.

She lost track of time and even missed her afternoon soldier training class.

Marlone thought Arix was still feeling unwell and quickly approved her leave, asking her a few concerned questions.

Arix replied absentmindedly for the first time, then she informed Deanna before continuing to read the notes with intense focus.

As dusk approached, Arix finally finished reading the notes. She closed her opticomputer and looked up at the dazzling sunset. Her eyes were empty, clearly deep in thought, and she didn’t notice the beautiful sky.

The notes of Talrin gave her a lot to process. They were wild and full of crazy ideas, and anyone who read them would get hooked. Arix loved the imaginative thinking in the notes and admired how the guy had pursued such a wild goal for 20 years.

’But can ordinary people really have their own Psychic Incarnation?’ Arix pondered this for a long time but couldn’t figure it out. She decided to stop thinking about it, knowing that if she kept going, she’d end up spending the night outside.

Arix stood up and brushed off her cold seat. Then she headed back to her dorm, her mind still buzzing with possibilities.

When Arix got home, she was surprised to see that PO had already made dinner. The table was packed with delicious dishes, and Arix couldn’t help but ask, "PO, where did you get the money for these ingredients?"

She was pretty sure she hadn’t connected PO to her bank account yet, ’so how could he afford this?’



PO, in his cute robotic voice, blinked and opened a small storage box in his stomach, showing a few energy stones. "I get three energy stones as salary each month. I only used two stones and saved one. Today is the first time I met you, so PO wanted to make dinner for the you."

Even though PO’s voice was robotic and emotionless, Arix felt touched. She knelt down and hugged the little robot, which stood just half a meter tall.

"Thank you, PO," she said, patting his head. "I have something for you too."

Arix then pulled out hundreds of level-three energy stones from her Space Button and filled PO’s storage box to the brim.

"Master, this is too much," PO said, looking at the overflowing stones in confusion. These were enough for ten years of his salary.

Not knowing what to do, PO started overheating, with smoke coming out of his head. Arix quickly patted his head, and thankfully, he returned to normal.

"Don’t worry, I have plenty of money," Arix reassured. She linked her bank account to PO and showed him her balance, revealing an eight-digit figure.

PO’s screen mouth formed an "O" shape. "Master, you’re so rich!"

Arix smiled and patted PO. "I’ve given you payment permissions. Besides living expenses, you can buy whatever you want."

"Thank you, master. Please eat your meal before it gets cold," PO said cheerfully, with fireworks displaying on his screen. He quickly served her a bowl of food.

"Thanks, PO." Arix sat down to eat, but her opticomputer beeped with a visitor notification.

Checking the door monitor, she saw Drexel. She opened the gate remotely and granted him house access.
