Chapter 209: A Disaster

Drexel couldn’t quite read the commander’s thoughts. Thinking the man might not have heard him, he repeated himself with more conviction, "Yes, we are Supergiant-Class mecha pilots, and there are four of us."

"Perfect timing!" the commander exclaimed. "I have a critical mission for you. You need to take this Ether Crystal and send it through one of the wormholes. It’s a tough assignment, but for the sake of the Alliance people on Planet Waste, we must ask for your help."

"Understood! We will complete the mission!" Drexel responded with a firm salute.

The commander returned the salute with equal seriousness. "On behalf of Planet Waste, thank you."

Switching back to his team’s channel, Drexel relayed the mission and its risks to Deanna and the others.

They all nodded in agreement without hesitation. Drexel felt a surge of pride. He then went to the commander alone to retrieve the Ether Crystal.

With the crystal in hand, Drexel regrouped with his team to plan the operation.

"Arix, you’ll take the Ether Crystal and seal the wormhole," he said, handing it to Arix.

Arix accepted the crystal with a resolute nod.

With the main task assigned, Drexel continued, "I’ll lead the charge. Deanna and Marceau, you two will support Arix. If there are no questions, let’s move out."

Once everyone knew their roles, Drexel’s mecha extended a hand, looking up at the other three.



Arix placed his mecha’s hand firmly on Drexel’s, followed by Deanna and Marceau, who exchanged a look before joining in.

Together, they nodded in encouragement. Then, with a synchronized motion, they raised their hands and swung them down forcefully, charging into the swarm of insectoids without a second thought.

In the thick of the battle, they advanced in a tight triangular formation. Drexel spearheaded the attack, his long spear slicing through foes.

Deanna and Marceau covered the sides, fending off and eliminating insectoids.

In the middle, Arix stayed vigilant, ready to assist if any of his teammates faltered.

Other mecha pilots on the battlefield noticed their prowess.

"Wow, are those Supergiant-Class mecha pilots? Their power is insane!"

"Who are they? I’ve never seen these mechas in our legion."

"I think I recognize those mechas on the sides. They can be rented from Hecaris Military Academy, usually by military students."

"So, they’re just students?"

Alliance soldiers watched in awe, guessing their identities.

The commander, now more relaxed with Arix and the team handling the crystal, didn’t care if they were students or not.

During times of great disaster, even the very young ones have to step up. Especially military students, who are the future soldiers of the Alliance. When the people of the Alliance are in trouble, they must act without hesitation.

As the commander finished this thought, a message from his superior popped up on his opticomputer. Worried it might be important, he quickly opened it. The first line made his stomach drop.

He muttered as he read, "Two of those military students were from the Kering family and needed protection? In times like these, should we really treat the children of high-ranking officers differently? Were the kids on Planet Waste any less valuable?"



Frowning, he read on.

The boy is Drexel, the future leader of the Fifth Legion.

The commander’s heart skipped a beat. While he believed all lives were equal, sending a young genius to die seemed foolish.

His eyelids twitched as he continued reading.

The girl is Arix. Protect her at all costs and stop her from going to the battlefield if necessary!

The commander was stunned. The words echoed in his mind. Arix? Arix Kering?

If Drexel’s involvement worried him about exposing a future leader too soon, Arix’s presence made him regret his decisions deeply.

Arix, who invented the healing potion that saved countless lives across the stars, including his own comrades. He had just given the most dangerous task to the future hope of the Alliance.

He realized that he had to fix this mistake.

The commander buried his face in his hands, feeling crushed for a few seconds. When he looked up again, there was a glint of madness in his eyes. Determined, he pressed his wireless earpiece and addressed all the mecha teams.

"Everyone, I have good news and bad news."

The military mecha teams were puzzled but listened attentively to their commander’s unusual tone.

The commander took a deep breath and said, "You all know Arix Kering, right?"

The mecha teams wondered if their commander had lost his mind. Everyone in the Alliance military knew Arix’s name. Without her, the death and injury rates would be at least 10% higher.

Thanks to Arix’s invention of the psychic power healing potion, their comrades’ chances of survival had significantly increased.

Now, that 10% might seem small, but for the Alliance Army, which has billions of soldiers, it means saving millions of lives.



Arix came from Planet Waste, so some soldiers from there saw her almost like a savior.

The commander knew it was a silly question, so he skipped it and went straight to the point. "Arix is here, and she’s on-site."

When the soldiers heard this, they were shocked, surprised, and overjoyed. Some even started thinking about getting her autograph after the battle.

But before they could bask in that thought, the commander dropped some bad news.

"See those four Supergiant-Class mechas? Arix is in one of them. I thought they were support from another corps, so I assigned them the most dangerous mission to seal the wormhole. That was my mistake. After the war, I’ll accept the punishment. For now, protect them!"

The battlefield went silent for a few seconds after he spoke. Then, curses filled the air.

In those few moments, the battlefield’s atmosphere shifted. Every mecha squad fought like they were insane, their combat power skyrocketing.

They had one goal: to kill all these insectoids and keep Arix safe. And after the battle, they’d definitely make that commander pay.

Meanwhile, as Arix and her team got closer to the wormhole, the insectoids went wild. They had been scattered at first, but now they were swarming like they had received orders.

The sky was nearly black with the insectoid army. Drexel had to call in Sheer, but the endless stream of enemies left them exhausted.

Deanna and Marceau’s mechas were covered in scratches and bite marks. Even Arix had to join the fight; the three of them couldn’t hold out much longer.

The wormhole was only 100 meters away, but they couldn’t get any closer. The longer they took, the more insectoids showed up. Drexel and his team were getting pushed back.
