Chapter 35: Hard-working Girls

Calista’s cheeks turned bright red under Arix’s gaze. She flicked her eyes nervously for a moment before it suddenly dawned on her.

"Wait, aren’t you a Thalis?" Calista asked with wide eyes.

"Arix, don’t tell me you married into the Kering family and even changed your last name..." Rei thought she had uncovered a shocking secret, so she excitedly sat next to Arix and chatted eagerly, pulling her arm.

"So, the leading lady from the Interstellarnet Headlines these past few days is our roommate," Leyla said, looking at Arix with a rare hint of surprise on her graceful face.

The girls’ stares made Arix unusually flustered, and she turned red as she began to explain, "Okay, stop teasing me. You are my roommates, so I won’t hide it anymore. Drexel is actually my..."

"Boyfriend!" Rei interrupted excitedly.

"Fiancé." Leyla joined in the fun.

Calista didn’t say anything, but her sparkling eyes were filled with curiosity.

Seeing such an innocent Calista, Arix finally felt a pang of conscience.

No longer keeping them in suspense, Arix blinked innocently and revealed, "Drexel is my older brother, the kind with blood ties. So, now you understand."

Arix’s words plunged the dorm into silence.



Even the cute and well-behaved Calista looked at Arix with a serious doubtful expression.

Maya chuckled, breaking the silence. "So, the two of you fell in love only to find out you were long-lost siblings? Come on, I thought we’re way above that cliché romance."

"I’ll never trust love stories on the Interstellarnet again," Leyla said with hollow eyes. Then, as if she had seen through all worldly desires, she picked up a cloth and began to wipe her bed racks.

"You’re certainly a naughty girl," Rei said with admiration, blinking.

She then thought of the people on the Interstellarnet who were constantly arguing that Arix didn’t deserve Drexel. She really wanted to see their faces when they learned the truth.

Rei silently sympathized with them before picking up a basin and heading to the dormitory’s washbasin. Her stride seemed to carry the taste of seeing through life’s vicissitudes.

"You should have cleared up the rumors earlier. After all, Drexel has quite a few crazy fans who might hurt you out of jealousy," Lilou advised, pushing up her glasses.

Arix nodded. She had been indifferent about it, but Lilou’s words made her start to worry.

The rumors online would naturally be dealt with by Arix’s family. But the rumors within the military academy, since everyone was without their opticomputers at the moment, would have to wait until Arix could clear them up in person.

Thinking this, Arix relaxed and started to join in cleaning the dorm with everyone. By the time the dorm looked brand new, it was already time for lunch.

Arix and her new roommates took a quick shower and headed to the cafeteria together. It wasn’t far from the dorm, and they arrived after a short walk.

The cafeteria was decorated simply and cleanly, with students orderly picking up their meals from the serving area. They then carried their trays to the dining area to eat and chat.

Arix too picked up a tray and chose some of her favorite dishes from the wide variety available. She then walked over to the dining area.



"Arix, hi!" Varden was also in the dining area, eating with some classmates. He greeted Arix as he saw her.

Arix smiled and greeted Varden back. Then, she and her roommates found a quiet spot to start their meal.

"Arix, who was that handsome guy greeting you? And you two seemed really close," Rei said teasingly.

Arix rolled her eyes at Rei and said dryly, "He’s my cousin, the kind with blood ties."

"Another one ’with blood ties’? Are all handsome guys in the world tied with you by blood?" Rei was stunned.

"Why, you think my cousin is handsome? Want me to introduce you?" Arix joked, raising an eyebrow.

"Ah! No need," Rei blushed and coughed awkwardly.

Arix laughed at the silly situation.

Midway through the meal, Rei suddenly remembered what the instructor had said. She looked up at her roommates and asked, "So, who’s going to be our dorm leader?"

"I can’t, I have much training to do and have no time for that," Lilou was the first to decline.

"I can’t either, I need to preview the Psychic Ware textbooks for freshmen," Leyla declined second.

"I need to preview the potion textbooks for freshmen too," Calista said apologetically.

"I need to preview the mecha manufacturing textbooks for freshmen as well. But Rei, I think you’d be great for it, why don’t you be our dorm leader?" Arix said with a mischievous grin.

"Arix! If I become the dorm leader, you’ll be the first one I’ll hassle," Rei pretended to be angry and glared at Arix. Then she turned to Maya with a very gentle smile.



"Maya, it looks like the role of dorm leader is meant for you, don’t refuse, it’s decided then," Rei smiled sweetly, leaving no room for Maya to object.

Arix and the others also felt Maya was very suitable, and so they all nodded in agreement without saying a word.

Maya, the person in question, could only smile helplessly and touch her forehead.

Thus, the decision for Maya to become the dorm leader was sneakily settled right there.

In another building of the training field, in the instructor’s office...

Virtanen was sitting at his desk, flipping through the dormitory information sheets. When he reached Arix’s page, he took a closer look, double-checking to make sure he was seeing things correctly.

Virtanen then looked up at Ortiz with a bit of uncertainty, "Ortiz, did you change Arix’s roommates?"

"Yes, I changed them. I arranged for the girls with the best physical conditioning from Hecaris Military Academy to be Arix’s roommates," Ortiz didn’t hide anything.

"Hmm? Any particular reason for that?" Virtanen asked, curious.

Ortiz revealed a meaningful smile and said, "Competition is a good thing. Now that she’s surrounded by the best, I believe even if Arix were as weak as a tiny hamster, she would still enhance her physical condition through competition."

"That’s a great idea, typical of Ortiz." Virtanen’s eyes lit up, seeing the potential in the plan, and he gave Ortiz an admiring thumbs up.

Bauer, puffing on a cigarette, didn’t say anything, but those who knew him understood that his silence was an approval of the strategy.
