Chapter 229: Group Fight
Chapter 229: Group Fight
Spears shook his head, deciding to tune out the chatter around him. His focus shifted back to the arena.
Sure, the heirs had a clear edge when it came to their Psychic Incarnations, but that didn’t mean other kids were completely outclassed.
Take the scene playing out now, for example. The rabbit had surrendered without a fight, flopping onto the ground in defeat. Deanna gave it a swift kick, and with a stern look from its owner, the rabbit reluctantly offered a carrot to the powerful tiger standing before it.
Drexel watched, amused, as the little rabit stood there, somehow managing to look both terrified and oddly brave at the same time.
"Why not just give up? No need to let your Psychic Incarnation get hurt," Drexel suggested, hoping to spare the little rabbit.
"Don’t worry, I never expected to win. I just wanted to see the difference between the Psychic Incarnations of you noble heirs and us," Deanna replied, fully aware of her limits.
She had surrendered earlier on purpose, switching from defender to challenger. Only a fool would miss out on such a perfect chance to learn.
Drexel, catching on to her plan, grinned. And with that, their Psychic Incarnations squared off.
Though calling it a "fight" might be a bit generous. The tiger didn’t even bother acknowledging the rabbit. Instead, it simply put up a psychic power barrier and lazily went back to sleep.
So, the arena was left in a strange mix of frantic energy and utter calm.
The frantic energy came from the little rabbit furiously pounding on the barrier, while the calmness radiated from the tiger, peacefully dozing.
Watching Deanna’s clever strategy, Cirilla, ever the battle enthusiast, felt a spark of inspiration. She glanced at her own empty arena, then spotted a classmate walking by. With a sweet smile, she called out, "Come on up."
The guy blinked in confusion. "Huh?"
He had just been there to watch the five heirs’ Psychic Incarnations, not to get himself beaten up.
But when Cirilla shot him a threatening look, he had no choice but to climb onto the platform. Three seconds later, both he and his Psychic Incarnation were sprawled on the ground.
Cirilla, clearly unimpressed, pouted. To everyone’s surprise, she deliberately surrendered and stepped down from the platform. Then, without missing a beat, she made her way straight toward Elio’s platform.
Elio and his dolphin Psychic Incarnation went pale. "Don’t come over here!" he shouted in a panic.
But Cirilla didn’t give them a chance to escape. She took them both down, leaving them bruised and battered before stepping off the platform. She seemed satisfied with her handiwork.
"Who’s next?"
Cirilla’s eyes sparkled mischievously as she scanned the platforms, clearly on the hunt for her next target.
Meanwhile, Arix couldn’t help feeling sorry for his own partner.
After nearly three hours of fierce fighting, even Cupid, strong as he was, was starting to show signs of fatigue.
"Cupid, maybe it’s time to let Vita and the others take over," Arix suggested telepathically.
"It’s alright, Arix, I’ve got this," Cupid replied, though his tiny paws trembled as he faced off against the menacing crocodile Psychic Incarnation.
Arix knew Cupid could keep going for a bit longer, but there was no need to push it. If Cupid got hurt, it wouldn’t be worth it.
So, seeing Cupid struggle, Arix made a quick decision.
Hugging Cupid close, she called out Sophia.
The military student across from them, who had been so sure of his victory, didn’t even have time to process what was happening before another Psychic Incarnation materialized.
"You... you... how do you have two Psychic Incarnations?" the military student stammered, his eyes darting between Sophia on the ground and Cupid in Arix’s arms.
"Is that a problem?" Arix asked, genuinely puzzled.
"Of course, it’s a problem! This is a gang fight! It’s not fair!" the military student protested, his frustration bubbling over.
"Did the instructor say we couldn’t use two Psychic Incarnations?" Arix blinked innocently.
The student opened his mouth to argue but found himself at a loss for words. There really wasn’t a rule against it.
"Seems like it’s fine, then. Let’s keep going. Sophia, you’re up!" Arix said, and with that, Sophia launched into action.
Compared to Cupid, Sophia’s attacks were quick and ruthless. In just a few moves, she sent the student flying off the platform.
The spectators, including the other students and instructors, watched in stunned silence as Sophia displayed her power.
"Rear Admiral Kering, your sister sure knows how to keep things interesting," Spears remarked, clearly impressed by the sight of Arix handling two Psychic Incarnations.
Kellan’s eyes sparkled with pride as he smiled. "She’s always been one-of-a-kind."
Spears couldn’t help but chuckle at Kellan’s blatant lack of modesty, but he let it slide.
While the instructors and onlookers were pleasantly surprised by the display, the students who had planned to challenge Arix were anything but.
Realizing they’d have to face not one but two Psychic Incarnations, they quickly decided to find a different platform to challenge. No one was eager to face what they now saw as an unfair advantage.
In the end, most of the students who stuck around Arix’s platform were there just to watch the action unfold.
Once word spread that she had two Psychic Incarnations, no one dared challenge her.
When the three-hour event wrapped up, Arix smoothly secured her spot on the national mecha team.
The final lineup for the national mecha team included the heirs of the five major families, Arix and her brother Deanna, as well as a girl named Lydia and a boy, Marco.
The alternates were the top three remaining students, two of whom were from Koros Military Academy, with Quinnie being the sole representative from HMA.
Arix was a bit surprised to see Quinnie as an alternate, especially since her strength seemed on par with Arix’s own. But later on, Arix learned that Quinnie didn’t have a Psychic Incarnation, which explained why she wasn’t a main team member.
While it was unexpected to find out that some students didn’t have a Psychic Incarnation, Arix didn’t think too much of it. After all, Kellan didn’t have one either.
