18: Chapter 18 Discharge from the Hospital

Wang Shuo was finally being discharged from the Hospital.

This was a big deal for Dorm 403, but strangely, from the moment Wang Shuo woke up in the morning until the doctor finished the check-up and completed his discharge procedures, he hadn't seen any of his three brothers.

Calls went unanswered, and he had no idea what they were up to.

On the contrary, Chen Xin came to see him early in the morning and even brought him breakfast, which he hadn't had in a long time.

She even drove him to the school gate in her Mercedes-Benz.

This touched Wang Shuo deeply; if others weren't around, he would have been tempted to pour out his feelings of loneliness.

Watching the Mercedes-Benz van speed away, Wang Shuo shook his head with a sigh.

Back at the campus gate, Wang Shuo felt as if a day in the cave was a thousand years in the world. He couldn't help but feel that his mindset had aged.

It was no wonder; he had first experienced the baptism of the Humanoid Race civilization, which spanned thousands or tens of thousands of years, and then spent over ten days in the Hospital, barely going out at all.

Students were coming and going at the school gate—young, beautiful girls and handsome boys. Although the girls didn't seem as pretty or eye-catching as Chen Xin, they wore revealing clothes, showing off their graceful figures, long legs, and fair skin.

Although Chen Xin was pretty, he had seen her enough to be immune. Besides, Chen Xin was a conservative; even when wearing a skirt, it reached below her knees, revealing only her fair, tender calves. Wang Shuo wanted to look with appreciation, but... he simply didn't dare.

Having lain in the Hospital for a month without seeing the sun, Wang Shuo only saw patches of pale thighs flashing before his eyes.

It was fifteen or twenty minutes later by the time he reached the bottom of the dormitory building.

While recalling the countless young girls he had seen on the way, he took out the dorm key he had gotten from the dorm warden and opened the door.

The moment the door opened... Wang Shuo froze. What... what was going on?

The once clean and tidy dorm had completely changed; colorful paper and balloons covered every corner of the walls. Above the balcony door directly opposite hung a large bedsheet with some words written crudely in black ink. As for what they said... forgive Wang Shuo, he really couldn't recognize them. Perhaps too much ink had been used; the ink smudges had drowned out the characters themselves, leaving streaks that clawed and sprawled toward the edges.

If an outsider saw this, they would think it was a haunted scene.

The room was empty, but a surprised voice came from behind Wang Shuo.

"Oh? Brother, is your room haunted?"

Wang Shuo turned to see a strange man with glasses following closely behind him, clicking his tongue in curiosity.

"Yes!" Wang Shuo gritted his teeth. "Not only is it haunted, but there are three of them!"

"Three ghosts?" The man in glasses looked incredulous. "I was wondering why your forehead looked dark and you looked so unlucky. You're about to have a streak of bad luck."

Wang Shuo rolled his eyes inwardly, walked into the dorm, tore down all the balloons and paper decorations from the walls, collected them, and put them into a bag.

"Say, brother, heavy bad luck shouldn't be underestimated. Do you need me to exorcise it for you? It's very effective."

Wang Shuo looked at him speechlessly. "Who are you?"

"Ah." The man with glasses seemed to just remember, rubbed his head, and smiled. "I'm also a freshman in the computer science major. My name is Li Zongqiang."

"Science... Qiang?" Wang Shuo chuckled inwardly and nodded. "Indeed, you can't get in without good science grades. Hello, my name is..."

"Classmate, please wait. I'm best at guessing names. Let me guess." Li Zongqiang interrupted him quickly, then looked at Wang Shuo with a mysterious expression. "Although I haven't met you before, I can see that you have a unique face and are plagued by bad luck. Hmm, you must be surnamed Wang, with the single name Shuo?"

"Wow." Wang Shuo was a bit surprised. "That's quite accurate."

Li Zongqiang smiled proudly and said, "Of course. You don't know, classmate, I've been studying under the Zhengyi Sect since I was six. Reading faces and calculating fortunes is my specialty."

"I wasn't lying just now. Haven't you been plagued by bad luck lately? I have authentic exorcism artifacts here, all consecrated. Buy one, and I guarantee you peace."

Wang Shuo smiled and shook his head. "I just didn't expect to become so famous after not being here for a month. People really shouldn't get popular too fast. Since I have you here, Li, you wouldn't happen to be in my class, would you?"

Li Zongqiang's proud expression suddenly froze, then he looked a bit dejected and asked Wang Shuo, "Was I that obvious?"

"Not obvious." Wang Shuo looked at him with a smile. If it were his old self, he really wouldn't have noticed. "Did the counselor call my name again today?"

"No." Li Zongqiang said dejectedly. "The counselor already remembers your name; does she still need to call it? If you want to report to her, hurry up. I don't think it'll be easy."

Wang Shuo frowned.

"A woman?"

Li Zongqiang was a bit surprised, but nodded.

"Very young? Bad temper?"

Li Zongqiang nodded again and said mysteriously, "Very young. I heard she's only twenty-six and stayed at the school after graduating as a graduate student. Wang, you've been skipping classes and didn't undergo military training, so you're already her key target for surveillance."

He patted Wang Shuo's shoulder and gave him a consoling look. "Take care of yourself, classmate Wang. Good luck!"

Finally, he leaned in sneakily and asked quietly, "Classmate Wang, are you really not considering an authentic Zhengyi Sect talisman? It guarantees all bad luck will be removed and your fortunes will turn around!"

Wang Shuo smiled and shook his head.

"What a pity." He pursed his lips, stopped pestering him, opened the door, and went back.

A few minutes later, Zheng Jun and the others returned. When Wang Shuo saw them, they were each holding a large box, standing at the door, looking at him in surprise.

"Ol'... Second Brother?"

"Why are you back so early? We haven't even finished decorating the dorm..."

Zheng Jun froze for a moment before putting the box aside. He pulled Wang Shuo over to show him their results, only to find that most of the balloons and colorful decorations they had spent so long putting up were gone, with only a few scattered ones left hanging, looking quite miserable. As for the white welcome banner, the words were unrecognizable, leaving only four pitch-black ink blobs and streaks of black ink.

"This... who did this? Did we get robbed?"

"And this... this banner, what happened?"

Wang Shuo spread his hands.

"Fourth! Look at the words you wrote! I told you there was too much water! You wouldn't listen! Look, can you still recognize the words 'Second Brother Rise Up'!"

Wang Shuo broke out into a cold sweat hearing this. No wonder he couldn't recognize it; it wasn't the "Welcome Home" he thought it was, but...

Wang Shuo looked at Zheng Jun with a resentful expression.

Seeming to feel Wang Shuo's gaze, Zheng Jun rubbed the back of his head embarrassedly and explained, "Second Brother, don't misunderstand... this... this was all Fourth's idea, ask Fourth."

Chen Cheng was still holding the box with both hands, blinking his eyes, giving a very innocent look.

Li Li looked indescribable.

Wang Shuo instantly felt he had no temper left. Meeting three such clowns, what could he say? He changed the subject.

"This box..."

"Oh, these are props left over from the mixer. We borrowed some to give you a surprise. Didn't expect you to be back so early."

"Mixer?" Wang Shuo felt like a country bumpkin, clueless about everything he heard.

"The Freshman Costume Mixer! Organized by the Student Union."

Zheng Jun looked like he was still savoring it, licked his lips, and said, "You have no idea, the scene... tsk tsk. Everyone wore masks, dressed in all sorts of weird ways. No rules, everyone mingled freely. As long as you could successfully hit on... connect with a girl, you could add her on WeiChat, chat, hold hands—all in one night."

Zheng Jun looked at Wang Shuo with sympathetic eyes. "Second Brother, it's a real pity you couldn't participate."

"You don't know, never mind Chen Cheng, even Li Li, this kid actually quietly hit on a girl, not only added her on WeiChat, but they even got together!"

"Poor me, I hunted all night and only added one person on WeiChat, and she just wanted me to be her brother..."

Wang Shuo looked at Li Li in surprise. Li Li's face flushed red—a rare sight—and he revealed a shy smile, but to Wang Shuo, this smile seemed... smug.

Wang Shuo felt like he had missed out on a fortune.

"But Second Brother, you don't need to be too sad. Don't you still have Miss Chen? Come on, take down Miss Chen, and Fourth will follow you from now on!"

Zheng Jun laughed, patted Wang Shuo's shoulder, and advised.

However, being thick-skinned, he didn't realize that what he said offended both Wang Shuo and Chen Cheng at the same time.

Wang Shuo and Chen Cheng exchanged glances, nodded secretly at the same time, and then...

"Die... Boss (Filthy King)!"

A moment later...

Wang Shuo and Chen Cheng each had a bruised black eye, sitting on the bed grimacing in pain, looking at Zheng Jun, who was standing to the side unharmed and looking concerned, feeling like crying but having no tears.

"Boss, your combat power is too..."

"And why is your hand so heavy?"

Seeming to hit a sore spot, both of them sucked in a breath of cold air.

"Ha... haha, conditioned reflex, conditioned reflex..." Zheng Jun rubbed his head embarrassedly. "Are you guys okay?"

Wang Shuo and Chen Cheng simultaneously lifted their heads proudly, giving Zheng Jun a big look at their nostrils.

"Oh, no one wants things like this to happen. Who told you to suddenly grab me? It was a completely subconscious reaction. And look..." Zheng Jun pointed to the skin scraped off his elbow. "I'm injured too, I even bled."

Both of them rolled their eyes simultaneously.

From now on, they would never mention fighting in front of this guy Zheng Jun again. Two people ambushed him and were taken down by a single elbow strike and two punches.

Really... embarrassing.

Wang Shuo and Chen Cheng looked at each other, seeing a sense of mutual sympathy in each other's eyes for the first time.
