404: Chapter 403 First-Order Gene Agent

The cold man smiled faintly, flicked his finger, and the glass bottle flew directly toward Ning Hao.

Ning Hao hurriedly caught it.

"It is yours."

The cold man glanced at Ning Hao, seemingly sensing the desire within him, and said, "Tier 1 Genetic Serum can only be injected specially through the organization. Use it rashly, and you will bear the consequences."

The desire in Ning Hao's heart diminished slightly. He looked up and asked, "If I use it, what will happen?"

"You will die."

The cold man looked at Ning Hao indifferently, "And you will die a very ugly death."

Gripping the glass bottle in his palm, Ning Hao immediately extinguished the thought of testing its effects.

"I can arrange one injection for you, but take note, only once."

"If you do not succeed and need another injection, then whether it is the serum or the injection itself, you will need to pay the price yourself."

"Another injection?"

Ning Hao's eyes narrowed slightly: "This thing can be injected repeatedly?"

"Of course."

The cold man seemed accustomed to reactions like Ning Hao's, his expression unchanged: "Everyone can receive repeated injections of the Genetic Serum until they succeed."

Ning Hao frowned: "Is there a limit to the number of times?"

The cold man glanced at Ning Hao, his gaze seemingly revealing something, then replied indifferently: "I can only tell you that for Tier 1, there is not."

This sentence carried many meanings. It seemed to say nothing, but Ning Hao already understood a great deal.

After a brief silence, Ning Hao lowered his head to ponder for a moment, then looked up at the cold man, a glint of coldness flashing in his eyes.

"In that case... I want to be injected!"

The cold man did not speak, but simply clapped his hands lightly, and the office door was immediately pushed open.

Two burly men walked into the office. Ning Hao looked at them, his pupils constricting slightly.

The cold man pointed at Ning Hao and said indifferently, "Take him to the injection room."

After the three left, the cold man sat down slowly, thought for a moment, and gently pressed a button under the desk.

A screen slowly opened from the bookcase, and a blurry The Figure appeared.

"Level 7 Executor G002358, your connection request has been rejected. Please state your reason to me."

The cold man said indifferently: "I have something to discuss directly with the Alpha God."

"The Alpha God is already asleep and cannot respond to your connection request. If you need a custom mission, please contact The Publisher."

The cold man's eyes turned slightly cold. Asleep already? It seemed earlier than usual.

"I want to see the Dominator."

"The Dominator cannot respond to your connection request. Please state your reason to me directly."

The Figure showed no emotional fluctuation.

The cold man lowered his head, then asked: "I want to know the cause of Cai Ming's death."

"The Executor armor did not acquire information from that time, so it is impossible to determine the method and time of death for The Publisher G002386."

"I'll rephrase the question."

The cold man said coldly: "I want to know what Cai Ming discovered."

"Public mission information: The Publisher G002386 discovered clues suspected to be related to the highest sequence mission target and applied for a detailed investigation, requesting resources be diverted to the Huaxia region."

"Then why did the organization only send two Level 5 Executors? And why did Cai Ming die?"

The cold man's expression remained unchanged as he pressed on with his questions.

Level 5 Executors were powerful, but Level 5 Executors themselves were not that powerful.

Every Level 5 Executor had a massive armed team behind them. The teams of those white Executors abroad even numbered in the hundreds or thousands, fully equipped with all kinds of Weapon equipment.

To put it bluntly, five Level 5 Executors could equal the entire armed forces of a small country.

If you added the organization's equipment, they could even trade blows with some medium-sized countries.

But in Huaxia, all of this was vanity.

Without breaking through the genetic blockade, combat power built solely on numbers and equipment was useless in Huaxia.

Those two ignorant Level 5 Executors were proof of that.

"Public information: The proposal by The Publisher G002386 was rejected by the Dominator. The Dominator stated: The target of the investigation is in the Huaxia region, the clues have not been clearly verified, and it is not suitable to project too much power there."

The cold man frowned slightly.

Being rejected was normal, but being rejected by the Dominator personally—that looked strange no matter how one viewed it.

The organization had a clear procedure for issuing missions. Although the Dominator was nominally called the Dominator, he did not have the authority to meddle in everything, especially such a direct and crude overstepping of authority.

According to common logic, if a mission from The Publisher did not align with the organization's interests, it would be submitted by the Arbitrator to the adjudicators. After the adjudicators reviewed and approved it, it would be handed back to the Arbitrator to execute. If the entire process did not violate regulations, the Dominator could not directly intervene.

Silently pondering, the cold man looked up.

"I want to know the detailed description of the mission."

...

Ning Hao and the two burly men went out and headed all the way down until they reached an inconspicuous small door on the first floor. Pushing open the small door, a tiny elevator room appeared before them.

Entering the elevator, Ning Hao watched as the burly man pressed the button for the first underground floor.

As the elevator swayed gently, Ning Hao silently counted the time in his heart.

Eleven seconds.

The time seemed a bit long.

The elevator door opened, and a bright corridor appeared before Ning Hao.

Counting roughly, there were at least twenty doors on both sides.

Without speaking, the burly man gently pushed Ning Hao, ushering him out of the elevator. He then walked straight ahead and pushed open a door on the right.

Ning Hao frowned slightly and walked into the room.

The room was decorated very much like an operating room, with all kinds of medical equipment readily available. Two medical personnel in white coats stood before the operating table in the center, seemingly having waited for a long time.

Glancing at the operating table, Ning Hao was momentarily stunned.

The operating table was clean, and the nursing pad on it had been freshly changed, but what made his scalp tingle was the addition of several fixation devices at the positions for hands and feet on both sides of the bed.

If he lay down on this, wouldn't he be at the mercy of others?

Scanning the burly men on both sides with his peripheral vision, Ning Hao suppressed his thoughts and asked, "Is the injection happening right here?"

A medical staff member nodded and pointed to the operating table: "Lie down."

Ning Hao did not hesitate and lay directly on the hospital bed.

"The strengthening process of the Genetic Serum will last for seventy-two hours. During this stage, the subject may exhibit some uncontrollable behavior, so we need to secure your hands and feet. Please do not resist."

The words were polite, but did he dare to resist?

Did they really think the two by the door were just there to show him the way?

Nodding slightly, Ning Hao took a deep breath: "I understand."

He extended his hands and feet into the fixation devices himself. The medical staff tightened the straps, then nodded to the other person in a white coat: "Begin."

A cart was pushed out, holding a very delicate-looking instrument. In the slot above the instrument, a tube of pale blue liquid caught Ning Hao's attention.

"What is this?"

Ning Hao asked.

"Nothing."

The medical staff drew the red liquid from the vial into the injection container, installed it in another slot below the instrument, and replied: "This is just a regular stabilizer to prevent your genes from going out of control."

"Out of control?!"

Ning Hao's brow twitched violently: "Didn't the Executor say that the Genetic Serum injection would not have any side effects, and at worst, it would just fail?"

"That is indeed the case."

The medical staff glanced at Ning Hao, their tone flat: "This is just a small preventive measure. The Tier 1 Genetic Serum is very mature and very safe, so rest assured."

Ning Hao widened his eyes and wanted to say something more, but the medical staff had already pressed the switch.

The pale blue liquid and the deep red liquid flowed out simultaneously, injecting into Ning Hao's body from two separate syringes.

In an instant, a sharp pain spread throughout Ning Hao's entire body.

At this moment, he finally understood why they had to restrain his hands and feet.

Pain, it was too painful.

It was as if someone was using a small hammer to break his bones inch by inch, spreading from the injection site all along his body.

The intense pain only lasted for an instant, followed by itching, as if dense swarms of ants were gnawing at his blood vessels and nerves. If his hands and feet were not tied down, Ning Hao would have wanted to tear his skin apart and dig these ants out from his bones.

Itchy, it was just too itchy.

Ning Hao couldn't help but start struggling violently, the veins on his neck bulging, his face flushed bright red.

The people around watched this scene very calmly, without the slightest surprise.

One of the medical staff held a recording device, quietly filming Ning Hao's miserable state, their expression blank as they said:

"January 2, 2019, 9:43 PM. Genetic Serum Reagent No. 1243, Huaxia District Test No. 1889, recording."
