328: Chapter 327 Ning Hao is missing

Zheng Yi arrived very quickly; less than two minutes after hanging up the phone, a black business van pulled up in front of the three-story building.

The car door opened, and Zheng Yi was sitting in the back row. She said indifferently, "Get in."

Wang Shuo did not hesitate and got straight into the car.

The vehicle started quickly and drove out of the gate of the Software Park.

It was not until they merged into traffic that Wang Shuo turned his head and asked, "Sister Zheng, what happened?"

Zheng Yi's expression was stern, and she shook her head slightly.

Having long been beaten down by society, Wang Shuo understood instantly that this meant the car was not the place to talk either.

"Then where are we going?"

Wang Shuo asked, unwilling to give up.

This time, Zheng Yi answered.

"The Police Station."

...

Hanzhong City Police Department.

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei looked at the big screen in front of him, saying nothing.

Usually gentle, he was now like a volcano about to erupt, making everyone's breathing a little heavier.

"Bureau Chief Li."

A young police officer ran hurriedly to Deputy Chief Li Mingwei's side and reported, "We have already mobilized all police officers in the jurisdiction to set up roadblocks at various intersections. In addition, we have contacted the expressway, train stations, high-speed railway stations, and the airport, asking them to immediately check their passenger lists. If anything unusual is found, they are to report to us immediately. Our people are also already on the way."

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei nodded steadily. "Thank you for your hard work."

His tone, however, showed no sign of relief. He instructed, "This group likely has methods similar to disguises and impersonation. Tell everyone to be careful, do not let any trace go, and report any suspicious activity immediately. In addition to the airport and train stations, places in the city where they could hide must also be investigated, especially hotels and small, secluded inns."

"Yes."

The young police officer saluted and turned to leave.

The atmosphere in the control room became oppressive once again.

It was in this atmosphere that Zheng Yi brought Wang Shuo into the monitoring room hall.

The moment he saw Wang Shuo, Deputy Chief Li Mingwei's eyes flickered, but he immediately regained his composure and said to Wang Shuo, "Follow me."

Until they arrived at a familiar office, Wang Shuo was still in a completely bewildered state.

Looking at Zheng Yi and Deputy Chief Li Mingwei sitting on the sofa, he finally couldn't help but ask, "Bureau Chief Li, Sister Zheng, what exactly happened?"

The two exchanged glances. Deputy Chief Li Mingwei picked up a teacup from the table, walked to the water dispenser, poured a cup of water, and placed it in front of Wang Shuo.

"Drink some water first."

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei said.

Wang Shuo looked at him suspiciously and picked up the teacup. "You went to such great lengths just to invite me here for tea?"

When he first came in, he had seen that the entire Hanzhong City Police Department was basically in chaos; young officers were rushing about, police cars were roaring away one after another, and the atmosphere in the monitoring room was extremely oppressive.

Could it be... that some major case had occurred?

Wang Shuo's eyes lit up. If so, did he have new business coming his way again?

If that was the case, considering the face of an old customer, he could perhaps offer a reasonable discount.

"Of course not."

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei said, "Inviting you here is naturally because there is something important."

Wang Shuo looked at him, and seeing his hesitant expression, he couldn't help but say, "Bureau Chief Li, if there's something, just say it. No matter what it is, I can handle it."

It was probably just signing a contract and negotiating a price; a mere few hundred thousand was something he could afford to throw away at his current level.

It was just that looking at Deputy Chief Li Mingwei's expression, the price this time might not be easy to negotiate.

Wang Shuo drank some water, thinking about what he should do if Deputy Chief Li Mingwei's demands were too high, when he heard Deputy Chief Li Mingwei say, "Ning Hao... has disappeared."

"Pfft."

Wang Shuo spat out a mouthful of water. Ignoring the need to wipe his mouth, he looked at Deputy Chief Li Mingwei in front of him and asked in surprise, "Bureau Chief Li, what did you say?"

"Ning Hao... has escaped."

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei looked at Wang Shuo, his tone very low.

Wang Shuo opened his mouth, but didn't know what to say.

He hadn't expected that someone who had been detained by the Police Station for over ten days could actually escape?

"This is our dereliction of duty."

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei's tone carried an apology. "I apologize to you."

"There's no need for apologies." Wang Shuo waved his hand. "What I want to know is, how did Ning Hao escape? Shouldn't he have been in detention?"

"Correct."

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei nodded, his voice carrying a hint of annoyance as he said, "Originally, Ning Hao had already been sent to the detention center for custody, but just yesterday, a person claiming to be Ning Hao's lawyer met with Ning Hao."

"Because it was a lawyer meeting, we provided a separate meeting area and monitored the whole process, and we didn't find anything unusual."

Yet Ning Hao had disappeared.

Wang Shuo frowned slightly. "Bureau Chief Li, where was the meeting area you provided?"

"Of course, it was the meeting room at the detention center."

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei said, "Generally, for this kind of meeting, we wouldn't risk taking the suspect away. Meeting at the detention center is the easiest and least problematic method."

Wang Shuo nodded slightly; he understood this point very well.

But the problem now was: even though the most conservative measures were taken, Ning Hao had still disappeared.

"Have you checked this lawyer?"

Wang Shuo asked.

"We have."

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei nodded. "He is a hired lawyer from a local law firm. Before this incident occurred, he had always been very low-key and had nothing special about him."

"After the incident occurred, he also disappeared along with Ning Hao."

Wang Shuo frowned slightly.

Two living people disappearing mysteriously—who could believe that?

"Bureau Chief Li, don't tell me these two people disappeared without leaving a single trace?"

"That's not exactly the case."

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei took a few photos out of a file folder on the desk. "These are photos of the traces left in the cell after Ning Hao left. On the lock and the connection points of the cell door, we found multiple melted traces. Preliminary judgment suggests they were caused by a welding torch."

A welding torch?

This was even more absurd.

Wang Shuo smiled helplessly. Just as he was about to refute it, he suddenly remembered that strange video.

He asked abruptly, "Bureau Chief Li, was there anything else at the melted spots? Like a small square box? Or other strange-looking objects?"

"A small square box?"

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei was stunned. Seeing Wang Shuo's serious expression, he began to think, then shook his head slightly after a moment.

"Then was there any powdery substance?"

Wang Shuo asked, unwilling to give up.

"No, there wasn't."

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei shook his head again.

Wang Shuo rubbed his chin. Could he have guessed wrong?

"However, we did find bloodstains near the melted area. After comparison, the blood belongs to Ning Hao."

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei frowned and said, "This is also the strange part for us. It seems that Ning Hao accidentally injured himself while destroying the door, but the bloodstains are very even. It doesn't look like spraying; it looks more like smearing."

Wang Shuo was also very confused, his brows tightly locked.

"Simply destroying the door cannot guarantee that Ning Hao could safely walk out of the detention center. It is very likely that Ning Hao had other accomplices, and this accomplice is very likely inside the detention center."

Zheng Yi, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke up.

This reminded Wang Shuo. Wang Shuo snapped out of his deep thought and asked, "Bureau Chief Li, Sister Zheng, did you call me here just for the matter of Ning Hao?"

Ning Hao had escaped, vanished without a trace; this certainly exceeded his expectations, but for this kind of matter, it didn't seem necessary for Zheng Yi to make such a hurried trip.

Zheng Yi didn't speak, just glanced to the side.

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei nodded. "Ning Hao's escape is full of suspicious points. Combined with his previous experiences, it's very likely that he has already developed deep ties with overseas forces, so I reported this matter to Team Leader Zheng."

"I have already had the Sky Eye screen for clues. However, Wang Shuo, you still need to be careful. This person, Ning Hao, has an extremely strong desire for revenge. With his escape successful, it's hard to say whether he will launch a retaliatory attack against you. You still need to strengthen your security. Do you want me to send a few SWAT officers..."

"No need, Bureau Chief Li."

Wang Shuo waved his hand to decline. "I can handle it myself."

Seeing that Wang Shuo didn't seem to be joking, Deputy Chief Li Mingwei nodded. "Alright then, I've said what I needed to say. You two talk."

After speaking, he actually stood up and walked out of the office.

Looking at the silent Zheng Yi, Wang Shuo knew that the real main course was about to be served.

Sure enough, Zheng Yi looked at him, her expression solemn.

"Wang Shuo."

Zheng Yi's tone was heavy:

"Your gun—are there any raw materials that cannot be obtained by others?"
