46: Chapter 46 The Mysterious Man
The idea of transmitting data had just formed when a massive amount of data gushed out from the core. The sheer volume of data didn't even give Wang Shuo a chance to exclaim "Damn it," as he was instantly submerged in an ocean of data.
No preparation, no foreplay.
Wang Shuo was almost completely unprepared for this. He only felt as if his head had been struck by a heavy hammer, or as if thousands of thunderbolts were exploding in his mind. His Brain Domain was filled with a roaring sound, drowning out everything else.
Chaotic thoughts flashed rapidly; characters appeared one after another, only to vanish just as suddenly. Strings of profound theories kept surfacing in his mind, then transformed into brilliant flashes of light.

"Hold on, I must hold on."
With his blurry consciousness, Wang Shuo forced himself to concentrate and focused his target on the main keywords.
After another string of profound characters formed, a violent, throbbing pain struck him, and Wang Shuo finally couldn't take it anymore and passed out.
He didn't know how much time had passed. When Wang Shuo opened his eyes again, the first thing that came into view was a familiar decor style—one he knew all too well.
This is... the Hospital.
"You're awake." The young nurse, who was changing his IV, seemed to notice Wang Shuo's slight movement. She placed the empty bottle she had removed into a tray and said, "Since you're awake, I'll go call your family."
With that, the young nurse left the ward, leaving Wang Shuo alone to stare blankly at the familiar ceiling.
He was struggling to recall how he had ended up back in the Hospital.
It seemed like... That's right! Data transmission!
Wang Shuo felt rather depressed all of a sudden.
A single Knowledge Infusion had actually landed him in the Hospital; this was both within and beyond Wang Shuo's expectations.
"Number Two!"
With that familiar loud voice, Wang Shuo knew who it was without even looking up.
He looked up and sure enough, saw Zheng Jun grinning wide. He had a scruffy, unshaven beard hanging from his chin, and his voice was booming.
"Number Two, it's not that I want to lecture you, but your body is really too weak." Zheng Jun smacked his lips with a sigh. "How many days has it been, and you've already managed a repeat visit to the Hospital."
"I don't want to either, Boss." Wang Shuo said helplessly.
"That's why you need to learn from me. Look at me, I'm in tip-top shape!" Zheng Jun puffed out his chest, revealing his toned torso. "From now on, you'll follow me on my runs. It won't take even a week, and I guarantee your body will be just as fit as mine!"
'Then I'll probably have to pay a visit to the intensive care unit,' Wang Shuo thought to himself, then asked, "By the way, Boss, were you the one who brought me to the Hospital?"
"It wasn't me." Zheng Jun said with some emotion. "I don't know which kind soul called. I asked the emergency room doctors at the Hospital, and they said there was no one else there when they arrived; you were just sleeping on the sofa. There aren't many people these days who do good deeds without leaving their names."
As he spoke, he shook his head, seemingly full of regret for the current state of society where morals were declining.
Wang Shuo nodded silently. It seemed that Zero had faithfully executed his instructions, called for help, and had him sent to the Hospital.
"Boss, thank you so much. I'm always troubling you." Wang Shuo said sincerely.
"What are you saying?" Zheng Jun widened his eyes. "We're brothers in the same dormitory! If something happens to you, how could I not look after you? Besides, your body is so weak right now, you need someone to take care of you even more!"
"From now on, leave this to me. I'm going to step up your exercise plan. We absolutely have to get rid of your 'Blood Demon' nickname."
'Uh... if I train according to your plan, I'll probably die.'
"Thanks, Boss." Wang Shuo said against his better judgment.
...
After chatting for a good while, Zheng Jun finally left the ward, satisfied with Wang Shuo's promise. Before leaving, he solemnly reminded Wang Shuo of the things he needed to pay attention to, telling him: Training carries risks, join with caution; Zheng Jun is not responsible for any injuries.
Twenty-five words of truth, each one carefully crafted.
Sighing, he glanced at the IV bottle, which was still more than half full. Wang Shuo knew he would likely be stuck here for most of the day.
He felt his pocket; fortunately, his phone was still there.
He took out his phone, unlocked it skillfully, and opened WeiChat. A red notification badge at the top was very conspicuous; it was a message from Chen Xin.
"You passed out?"
How did she know I passed out? Is information dissemination this fast now? Or did this girl install a tracking device on me?
Wang Shuo was a bit puzzled, but that didn't stop him from replying as fast as he could.
"I'm fine now. It was caused by a lack of sugar intake."
A moment later, Chen Xin's reply came, with only one character.
"Okay."
Tsk tsk, typical Miss Chen Xin style. Wang Shuo was already used to it.
When she said this word, it meant the conversation was over, and he shouldn't reply anymore.
Fine, he wouldn't reply. Wang Shuo curled his lip. As a man with principles, how could he possibly force himself on someone who was cold to him? He exited WeiChat, swiped, and prepared to find the headline app to see if there was any major news.
But a line of text displayed on his phone made him freeze abruptly.
"14:36, November 5th, Monday."
November 5th, Monday?
Wang Shuo began to think carefully. If he remembered correctly, the time he performed the Knowledge Infusion was on Sunday, November 4th, and the alarm time he set for Zero was 36 hours later.
But the current time was 2:00 PM on November 5th.
In other words...
Wang Shuo suddenly felt a chill run up his spine.
If it wasn't Zero who called the police? Then who could it be?
A "person" he didn't know, or perhaps didn't even recognize, had wandered around his studio and "kindly" called for help for him while he was unconscious...
Just thinking about it felt terrifying.
If he weren't still hooked up to an IV, and hadn't suffered any actual losses, Wang Shuo would have wanted to return to the Software Park immediately and have Zero pull up all the surveillance footage to check.
Exhaling, Wang Shuo temporarily put this terrifying thought aside. Anyway, as long as he or she had entered his studio, he could figure it out by checking the surveillance records later, so there was no need to be too anxious for now.
And most importantly... there didn't seem to be anything too valuable in his studio, hmm... except for Zero.
However, based on the stealth mode he had set, no one should have discovered Zero's existence. Even if they accidentally woke it up, they would probably just mistake Zero for a common, ordinary voice-activated smart assistant on the market.
Calming down, Wang Shuo sat up, took out paper and pen, and prepared to carefully tally the gains from this data transmission.
He had gone to such great lengths and even landed himself in the Hospital; it would be a terrible waste if he hadn't transmitted the things he needed.
His head was groggy. Just as Wang Shuo patted his head and was about to start, the door to the ward was pushed open once again.
The person who entered flashed a professional smile at Wang Shuo.
"Hello, Mr. Wang, we meet again."
