227: Chapter 226 Am I a Shareholder?
Chen Xin walked quickly through the second floor, only slowing her pace once she reached the third.
Thinking of the awkwardness she had unwittingly displayed in front of Liu Yemei, Chen Xin could not help but feel annoyed.
She should have thought of this earlier. Someone as clever as Liu Yemei, how could she not see that the buns had been bought intentionally? And how could she not wonder why, with so many delicious options available, she had chosen to bring buns instead?
If she had known, she should have bought something else for her separately; eating a little to fill her up would have sufficed.
Now it was a disaster; her persona of over a dozen years had completely collapsed this time.
Chen Xin furrowed her beautiful brows and let out a soft sigh. She looked up at the door appearing before her and tightened her grip on the package in her hand.
Was she actually feeling nervous?
She, Miss Chen Xin, was feeling nervous over something so trivial?
What a joke.
Silently adjusting her mood, Chen Xin stepped forward.
Just as she arrived at the door and was about to stop to knock.
The door opened.
Hearing the movement of the door opening, Wang Shuo, who was typing away, stared fixedly at the screen and pointed at the coffee table beside him without looking.
"Just leave the takeout on the table, I'll eat it in a bit."
Chen Xin pursed her lips, walked to the sofa without a word, placed the package on the coffee table, and sat down.
Five minutes passed; Wang Shuo did not notice her presence, and didn't even look up at her once.
Ten minutes passed; Wang Shuo still did not turn his head.
Fifteen minutes... twenty-five minutes...
In the blink of an eye, an hour and a half had passed.
Chen Xin couldn't help but look up at Wang Shuo, who was still typing intently, and frowned slightly.
She gently set down the book she was holding, picked up the cup on the table, and walked to the water dispenser to get a glass of water.
When she tiptoed behind Wang Shuo, Chen Xin saw the screen filled with code, and complex CAD drawings displayed on a split screen.
The dense lines and structures made her feel a bit dizzy.
But Wang Shuo was full of excitement, his typing speed lightning-fast, showing no hesitation or doubt. The code on the screen increased rapidly, line after line, as if he were possessed.
Chen Xin did not make a sound, just watched quietly.
The next moment, she saw Wang Shuo pull out one hand and reach toward the space beside him.
Chen Xin silently placed the water glass in front of Wang Shuo's hand, then quietly watched him grab the cup and gulp it down in one go.
Casually setting the cup back on the table, Wang Shuo didn't even lift his eyes, continuing his frantic coding.
Refilling the cup with water and placing it back by Wang Shuo's hand, Chen Xin continued to stand quietly by his side, watching him work selflessly. A faint glimmer flickered in her dark eyes, as if she were contemplating something.
Time continued to pass.
Two hours went by quickly.
Wang Shuo, who was typing, suddenly let out a long breath, habitually picked up the cup beside him—which had been refilled who knows how many times—took a few quick gulps, and then shouted loudly: "Zero."
"I am here, Sir."
"Immediately run the test, and also begin arranging production of the finished product. I need to conduct compatibility testing and collect data."
"Very well, Sir." Zero's voice was gentle: "Production has been scheduled for you. Would you like to increase the priority of this task?"
"Raise it to the highest priority; put all other production tasks on hold," Wang Shuo said without hesitation. "Also, check the equipment status and summarize the production situation of the engineering robots. I want to review it."
"Very well, Sir. Raising to the highest priority requires confirmation of your command authority. How should I address you?"
Wang Shuo did not hesitate and stated the confirmation command: "Chen Xin the Ice Queen."
"Your identity has been confirmed. Your authorization level is: Highest Sequence."
Wang Shuo nodded slightly, took a sip of water from his cup, and stood up, ready to say something, when he saw a pair of dark eyes. And the owner of those eyes was standing right behind him.
"Chen... Chen Xin?!"
Wang Shuo almost choked on the water in his mouth. After hurriedly swallowing it, he looked at Chen Xin in front of him with surprise.
Chen Xin was still as beautiful as ever. Even though she was only wearing a simple dress, it couldn't hide her stunning figure and temperament. Just standing there, she was a sight to behold.
Only... right now, there seemed to be traces of coldness in Chen Xin's beautiful eyes.
This made Wang Shuo immediately recall the command phrase from just a moment ago, and cold sweat instantly broke out.
Could it be...
What had he done?
Why, out of so many commands, had he picked that one?
Why did he have to let Chen Xin hear it?
Why didn't anyone warn him when Chen Xin came in?
Why...
When people are pessimistic, they always find many excuses for themselves, but Wang Shuo racked his brain and couldn't think of any excuse that would help him get through this situation.
Was there anyone more unlucky than someone who gets caught red-handed bad-mouthing someone?
Actually, this wasn't a huge problem. Wang Shuo didn't have such high moral standards that he thought he couldn't bad-mouth someone, and besides, it wasn't even that harsh of a comment.
The key was... the person being bad-mouthed was Chen Xin.
That made all the difference.
Wang Shuo was so embarrassed now that he could curl his toes into the floor.
"This... I can explain."
Chen Xin glared at him fiercely, didn't say a word, turned around, and went to sit on the sofa. Seeing Wang Shuo still standing there, she patted the spot beside her.
Wang Shuo rubbed his nose.
Chen Xin's reaction was very unusual. Based on her personality, she should have turned around and left by now, and he would have to think about how to coax her back.
Wait... why did he want to coax her back?
Wouldn't that just delay things?
Walking over to sit beside Chen Xin, Wang Shuo tried his best to ease the atmosphere and put on a happy expression: "Chen Xin, how come you're here?"
"I'm here, are you not happy?" Chen Xin looked at Wang Shuo seriously.
"Happy, I'm happy." Wang Shuo gave an awkward laugh: "I wish you would stay here and not leave."
"Really?" Chen Xin raised an eyebrow.
"Naturally, it's true." Wang Shuo scratched his head. Coaxing girls was the most troublesome thing: "I swear."
"Mm." Chen Xin nodded lightly: "Then I'll stay here for a few days."
Wang Shuo was instantly shocked: "You're really not leaving?"
Watching Chen Xin continue to nod, Wang Shuo muttered: "Then where will you stay?"
"Didn't you just buy a house?" Chen Xin said calmly: "I'll just stay there."
Wang Shuo was speechless. He had indeed bought a house in Hanzhong City, but it wasn't for himself to live in.
"This... wouldn't that be inconvenient?"
"Or, do you want me to stay at a hotel? Alone?"
Now that things had reached this point, Wang Shuo could only nod helplessly. If he really let Chen Xin stay at a hotel alone, that old man Chen Zhongxuan would definitely kick him to death.
After all, the last time Chen Xin encountered danger was in Hanzhong City, and Chen Zhongxuan had a very strong opinion about the public security in Hanzhong.
By comparison, the house he was carefully crafting was safer, and it would be a good opportunity to let Chen Xin help him test the results.
"By the way." Wang Shuo scanned the room and changed the subject: "Where is your Mia?"
"Charging downstairs."
"Oh." Wang Shuo smiled and said: "You came at the right time. I have a new feature here, just in time to give your Mia an upgrade."
"Okay."
"Aren't you going to ask what the new feature is?"
Chen Xin looked up at Wang Shuo, finally getting to today's main topic. She said:
"Wang Shuo, am I a shareholder of the company?"
