66: Chapter 66 First Staff Meeting

After clattering away to finish the final set of code, Wang Shuo stretched contentedly. As long as he didn't think about upgrading equipment for the time being, life was quite satisfactory just by typing code.

After all, his only task right now was to perfect Zero to a presentable state as quickly as possible.

An industrial control system salvaged from a junk pile had already caused Professor Zeng and Chen Zhongxuan to lose their composure, so if Zero were officially unveiled... Just thinking about it made Wang Shuo feel his future wealth was limitless. This was definitely worth more than that piece-of-junk Mark I System.

Zero would be his main focus; everything else would take a backseat for now.

Well, the grand plan for making money was settled.

He let out a long sigh: "Zero, pour me a glass of water."

"Sir, I cannot process your command."

Uh... he'd almost forgotten. Zero had limited hardware capabilities right now and couldn't perform these kinds of menial tasks.

"Then have Liu Yemei bring me a glass of water."

"The message has been sent via your mobile phone."

"Very good." Wang Shuo nodded, quite satisfied with Zero's emergency response.

These responses weren't in the program; rather, they were logical judgments made by Zero through its intelligent core. It would rely on its own judgment to complete commands in the simplest way currently possible. This was the strength of the logic core and also one of the directions in which Wang Shuo planned to upgrade it.

Zero would sooner or later be upgraded by Wang Shuo into a true Artificial Intelligence; he had that much confidence.

He looked at the time in the bottom right corner of the computer screen; it was just past twelve noon.

Wang Shuo, who hadn't been hungry before, suddenly felt a bit hungry.

"Knock, knock, knock."

A knock at the door came, and Wang Shuo answered: "Come in."

A figure pushed the door open and entered, calling out as she walked in: "Mr. Wang, your tea is here."

Wang Shuo turned his head, a bit surprised: "Why is it you? Where is Liu Yemei?"

"I don't know." Xu Kexin pouted and shook her head: "She went out in a hurry right after coming down from your place and hasn't returned yet."

She already left?

Wang Shuo was stunned. If he remembered correctly, he hadn't rushed her, right?

What a proactive employee. With an employee like this, Wang Shuo didn't know whether to be gratified or to sigh.

Wang Shuo shook his head, took the cup from Xu Kexin's hand, and took a sip. Seeing the lines of code on the screen, he felt a new urge to code again.

He placed the teacup on the desk, put his hands on the keyboard, and his fingers flew. Lines of code continuously appeared with the sound of typing.

Xu Kexin watched with wide eyes.

This was her first time seeing someone code. Although she didn't know what other programmers looked like when coding, but... looking at that serious expression, the unhesitating attitude, and the flying speed of his fingers, this young boss seemed quite impressive, right?

Could this be the secret to how he was able to successfully start a business at such a young age?

Is being a programmer this profitable nowadays? Just casually making some software is worth tens of millions, and listening to Sister Liu, that's even considered low pay.

Should she... change careers?

Being an accountant clearly had no future.

Wang Shuo didn't know what Xu Kexin was thinking. By the time he finished typing several hundred lines of code in one go, only a little over half an hour had passed.

He turned around and saw Xu Kexin still standing behind him, looking at the code on the screen, her face occasionally showing a hint of conflict, then envy, and then a flash of regret.

"Ahem, what are you looking at?"

"Boss..." Xu Kexin said enviously: "What are you doing?"

"This..." Wang Shuo coughed: "This is the company's next project."

"The next project?" Xu Kexin's eyes lit up: "Does it make money? How much revenue will it bring in?"

She was an accountant, and what did accountants do? They managed money! But unfortunately, there had to be income and expenses to have cash flow, and only with cash flow did she have work to do.

"This is a long-term project, and there is currently no income."

Wang Shuo was telling the truth. In terms of technical content, the new code language was several orders of magnitude higher than something like a CNC machining system, but unfortunately, the new code language belonged to basic computer science and technology and could not directly generate economic benefits. Of course, Wang Shuo could choose to sell it to some well-known universities or companies, but doing so seemed a bit too wasteful. In a day and age where the new code wasn't widespread, expecting these companies to actively promote it was impossible.

After all, talking about code outside of its operating environment was just hooliganism. The new code was certainly good, but Wang Shuo had modified the underlying definitions. Without a matching, specialized operating environment, existing computers couldn't recognize the software programs, let alone run them.

To a computer, this was just a pile of useless garbled code, similar to the state Wang Shuo was in when looking at Humanoid Race characters before he learned the Humanoid Race language.

"No income, huh." A trace of disappointment was clearly visible on Xu Kexin's face. It seemed she would be idle for a long time again.

"Let's not talk about this for now. I'm a bit hungry. Could you order two takeout meals?" Wang Shuo rubbed his stomach; he could almost hear his stomach growling.

Now that he mentioned it, Xu Kexin felt a bit hungry too. She nodded and said: "I'll order, the company pays! And overtime pay!"

"No problem."

Wang Shuo transferred the money on the spot.

After eating and drinking their fill, Xu Kexin slowly went downstairs.

Wang Shuo, on the other hand, started a new round of hard work at the computer.

A few hours later, Wang Shuo leaned back in his chair, looking contentedly at the lines of code he had typed, his heart full of a sense of achievement.

After his sleepless and arduous efforts during this period, the workload for the new code language was nearly eighty percent complete. Once it passed eighty percent, the remaining part of the code language could almost entirely be generated by Zero through autonomous logical operations.

All Wang Shuo had to do was check the generated code commands to confirm they were correct. This way, Wang Shuo's workload would be much smaller, and he would be able to free up his hands to do other things.

For example... researching the next generation of computer systems.

Wang Shuo had been eyeing this for a long time.

But unfortunately, room-temperature superconducting materials were currently an unsolvable problem. Even though Wang Shuo had the complete structure and blueprints in his mind, he had no way to start.

But speaking of equipment...

Wang Shuo turned his head to look at the simple environment; this place didn't seem like a place that could accommodate a lot of equipment.

Although it had been rearranged by Liu Yemei and the office had become tidy and bright, the area... had genuinely shrunk. After all, Liu Yemei had specially partitioned a private meeting room for him, as well as a storage room. Added to the existing server room, the usable area of the entire third floor had greatly decreased.

It looked like he had to think of a solution.

"Zero, has Liu Yemei returned yet?"

"Liu Yemei has not been detected via the cameras. Do you authorize expanding the search area?"

"Authorization granted."

Wang Shuo was very curious. He had never added any malicious programs or algorithms to Zero. Could Zero really successfully enter the Software Park's servers to call upon resources?

Soon, he knew.

"Liu Yemei detected, located at Software Park Road 2, status: in transit."

This logic core... was a bit impressive. Being able to autonomously identify and master relevant permissions through hardware port vulnerabilities, and intercept data packets—this kind of capability was already equivalent to a very skilled hacker. Most importantly, Wang Shuo hadn't taught it to do this; these actions were completely accomplished autonomously by the powerful capabilities of the logic core.

It was indeed worthy of being the cornerstone of Humanoid Race civilization, Wang Shuo clicked his tongue in admiration.

But since Liu Yemei had arrived, he should do some things that a company boss should do.

Wang Shuo stood up and slowly walked downstairs. When he reached the stairs to the second floor, he shouted downstairs: "Xu Kexin, come up for a meeting!"

Before long, Xu Kexin came running up.

"Mr. Wang, Sister Liu hasn't returned yet. Should we wait a bit longer?"

Xu Kexin's eyes widened.

"She has already arrived. Let's go to the meeting room." Wang Shuo replied calmly and walked into the second-floor meeting room first.

"How did you know she..."

Before Xu Kexin could finish her sentence, she heard a series of footsteps echoing into the first-floor lobby. It was the sound of high heels, and combined with the steady intervals, it was undoubtedly Liu Yemei's footsteps.

Sure enough, a moment later, Liu Yemei's figure appeared on the second floor.

"What are you doing here?" Liu Yemei frowned.

"Mr. Wang called for a meeting." Xu Kexin pursed her lips toward the meeting room: "He's waiting for you in the meeting room."

Liu Yemei relaxed her brow, nodded, and walked toward the meeting room.

Xu Kexin pursed her lips and followed.

She was a bit curious. Judging by Liu Yemei's reaction, she didn't seem to know about the meeting. So, how did Mr. Wang know that Liu Yemei had returned?

Seeing that everyone had arrived, Wang Shuo cleared his throat and delivered the opening remarks.

"Alright, since everyone is here, I now announce that the first all-hands meeting of Frontier Technology Co., Ltd. officially begins!"
