8: Chapter 8 Chen Xin's Troubles

Chen Xin was in a terrible mood right now, truly terrible, especially after just having seen the person she least wanted to see; her mood was even worse.

Friends who knew Chen Xin well all understood that the calmer, colder, and more reticent Chen Xin appeared, the more she was brewing a violent storm within.

Her good family background and upbringing gave Chen Xin the skill to control her emotions and facial expressions, but Chen Xin was still young after all, and she could not yet achieve a state of absolute tranquility, devoid of any ripples.

Chen Xin walked out of the Hospital with a calm face, and the bodyguards who had been waiting on both sides for a long time immediately opened the door of a Mercedes-Benz van.

Chen Xin frowned, said nothing, and stepped inside.

"Young Miss, you've really put us in a miserable spot this time." A Middle-aged man wearing a black suit looked at Chen Xin as she boarded and gave a bitter smile. "The Master and Madam already know about your situation, and they personally called to give us a severe scolding."

The car had already started, and Chen Xin looked intently out the window, seemingly not hearing the Middle-aged man's voice.

The Middle-aged man wasn't annoyed; over a dozen years of getting along had made him clear about the Young Miss's temperament. He continued, "Fortunately, it was just two petty thieves this time who didn't know your identity and only wanted money. If it had been anyone else..." The Middle-aged man couldn't help but pause. "The consequences would have been unimaginable."

Chen Xin still did not react.

"Young Miss, if you really want to shake off the people I've arranged for you, you should at least go to some crowded public places. You..."

"How is the matter I asked you to handle going?"

Chen Xin's sudden interruption caught the Middle-aged man off guard, cutting off what he was about to say. He reacted for a moment before answering, "I have already reported it to the Master. The Master is currently searching through his circles and guarantees it will be the best neurosurgeon."

"Tell my father that if he can't find one domestically, then look abroad and invite the world's top experts over. He must wake up; I owe him a favor."

"That goes without saying." The Middle-aged man nodded. From childhood, the Young Miss had always been very independent and rarely asked for help. This time, since she was finally asking the Master for something, the Master would be overjoyed—how could he possibly drag his feet?

Thinking of the Master's hearty laughter after he had reported the matter, the Middle-aged man felt that following the Young Miss was truly the most correct thing to do—if only... the Young Miss could be a little more obedient.

The Middle-aged man recalled the Young Miss's silent yet unpredictable nature, as well as the astonishing things she often did, and couldn't help but feel a bit helpless. This generation of Young Masters and Young Misses was hard to manage.

"Also, Young Miss, you have been out for a long time this time. The school is urging you to return, and the Master's intention is also... what do you think?"

"Have the company's matters been resolved?"

"This..." The Middle-aged man couldn't help but show a bitter smile. Not answering directly meant a refusal; the Young Miss was indeed hard to manage.

"These matters... Young Miss, if I may be blunt, it is not yet time for you to worry about them."

"Uncle Chen." Chen Xin turned her head for the first time. Her beautiful face was expressionless as she looked at the Middle-aged man and said, "I am no longer a child. I have already learned something about the situation of the Chen Group through my sister. You are a veteran of the company and also the person in charge of the W City branch; you should be clear about these situations. Just tell me, the company's situation isn't as simple and understated as my father described, is it?"

"For these matters, it's better to let Young Master Chen Cheng worry about them. Young Miss, you should just focus on your studies; the Master will arrange everything else for you." The Middle-aged man smiled and changed the subject. "You have been in W City for such a long time, and I haven't had a chance to take you around because of various things. Today, I happen to have time. Just tell me where you want to go, Young Miss, and I will accompany you for a good tour."

"Uncle Chen, you should know why I ran here from the Capital. Are you still going to keep hiding it from me?" Chen Xin was unmoved and continued, "In the entire Chen family, only you have watched me grow up since I was a child. I see you more often than I see my father, and you understand me better than anyone else. You know my temperament, Uncle Chen. So, do you really think I would willingly become a sacrifice for the company's interests?"

The Middle-aged man's expression changed slightly, and then he smiled bitterly, "So, Young Miss, you already know?"

"If you mean marrying me off to certain people, yes." Chen Xin's expression was calm, as if the sacrifice she was speaking of wasn't herself.

"In the eyes of some people in the company, this is indeed the company's only lifeline." Uncle Chen was silent for a moment and sighed, "Young Miss, I can understand how you felt after receiving this news, and I can also understand your running away and your anger. But anger cannot solve problems; it is the most useless emotion."

"There is much helplessness and regret in this world, and there is also a lot of worthless anger. Young Miss, when a king is angry, it can sweep across a thousand miles, but when an ordinary man is angry, it can only result in blood splattering three feet. Do you know the difference between the two?"

"Just like what you did this time—running from the Capital to W City, going to great lengths to shake off the protectors I arranged for you. Do you know how dangerous that behavior is?"

"Yes, you were showing your anger to the Master and Madam, and to all the decision-makers, making your stance known, but what was the result? The result was that you encountered danger, implicated unrelated people, and still had to rely on the person you least wanted to see to solve it for you. In the end, it's just because you aren't powerful enough, Young Miss. If you could decide the rise and fall of the company with a single word, and solve the company's difficulties with a single word, then who would, who would dare to harbor the thought of trading you as a bargaining chip?"

"You see, your anger not only failed to solve the problem you encountered, but instead complicated it. And you, in the end, still have to continue along the original trajectory."

"Do you still think your actions were correct now?"

Chen Xin remained silent, seemingly thinking about something quietly. After a long time, she raised her head.

"What exactly went wrong with the company?"

"This is the fundamental attitude for solving problems." The Middle-aged man smiled slightly. "However, this is a long story. If you want to hear it, Young Miss, let's go to the branch, and I will explain it to you slowly."

As he spoke, the Middle-aged man calmly instructed, "Go to the company branch."

On the busy street, a black Mercedes-Benz van merged into the traffic and vanished in a flash.

...

A few hours later, in an office in the most central office building in W City.

A trace of anger finally appeared on Chen Xin's previously calm face, and her small fists were clenched tightly together.

"That is the situation, Young Miss." The Middle-aged man showed a trace of helplessness. "Currently, only this company in Japan possesses the key technology we need, but the president of this company's China region seems unwilling to sell such technology."

"We also learned some information from the sidelines. The fact is, such technology is indeed key technology that Japan restricts from being exported. But the equipment can be exported; the key is the people."

"After several changes in leadership, this company's China region president is now held by a person of Chinese descent. You should already know the name."

Chen Xin nodded.

"His son is the target of this engagement."

Chen Xin's hands clenched tighter, and she pressed her lips together, saying nothing.

"If it were just that the technology couldn't be developed, our company might be tight on funds, but we wouldn't be unable to maintain turnover. But the bad thing is that the real estate company under our group just won the bid for a plot of land in S City last year, and a large amount of capital is tied up. Furthermore, we signed a gambling contract; if the company cannot produce the finished product within the limited time, the group will need to pay the other party a huge amount of liquidated damages and shares. At that time, all the company's circulating capital and real estate will be tied up..."

The Middle-aged man shook his head.

"When all is said and done, it's still because we can't retain talent."

"How much time do we have left?"

The Middle-aged man held up one finger. "One month. At most one month, we must come up with a technical solution; otherwise, the Group will be forcibly acquired."

"I understand." Chen Xin stood up and walked toward the door.

The Middle-aged man couldn't help but feel distressed. "Young Miss, where are you going again?"

"To the Hospital."

The Middle-aged man shook his head slightly and signaled to the two people beside him. The two immediately understood and followed her.

Watching the retreating figure leaving quickly, the Middle-aged man looked a bit sorrowful; he shook his head and sat down.

"Master, oh Master, you really did wrong this time."

"Sigh..."

A long sigh echoed in the empty office.
