349: Chapter 348 Zheng Yi with Double Guns

In the dim corridor, Zheng Yi advanced slowly with her gun raised.

Beside her, only one of the two team members who had entered with her remained. He followed closely behind her with a solemn expression, his sharp gaze scanning the surroundings.

"The location of the explosion should still be underground. Captain, should we go check it out?" the team member asked.

Zheng Yi shook her head slightly, pressed her ear, and said, "Dubin, have you found the surveillance room yet?"

A reply came through her earpiece: "Captain, I've searched every room from the first to the third floor. I haven't found the surveillance room."

Zheng Yi frowned. "Keep looking, but be careful. There's a high possibility that enemies are in the surveillance room."

"Understood."

Zheng Yi ended the communication, her expression remaining grim.

"Captain," the team member said. "Based on the vibrations from the explosion, the blast site is still underground. I've already sent a distress signal to Team One and Team Two. Should we…"

"We can't wait."

Zheng Yi shook her head slightly. "Haven't you realized the situation here yet? The entire building has been empty since we arrived, and the rooms have been almost completely cleared out. This indicates that the other party had planned to evacuate before we even got here."

Zheng Yi's expression was calm.

"This is the closest we've ever been to this organization. We absolutely cannot let them get away."

The team member didn't speak; he understood the importance of this matter better than anyone.

Zheng Yi waved her hand. "Continue forward. Watch the surroundings. We need to pick up the pace."

Even though they hadn't encountered any enemies yet, Zheng Yi dared not relax in the slightest.

The two quickened their pace, rapidly passing through the first underground level and arriving at the entrance to the second underground level.

The team member peeked in to observe and confirmed, "Clear."

He then stepped inside, with Zheng Yi following closely behind.

There was still no sign of any enemies; the building felt like a dead object.

If not for the intermittent sounds of explosions, Zheng Yi would have thought she had come to the wrong place.

The second underground level was a massive underground parking lot. The vast space made Zheng Yi's eyes brighten, but this brightness didn't last long before the lights of the entire parking lot suddenly went out, and darkness descended.

Someone was watching them.

Zheng Yi's heart sank slightly. She didn't believe this was a coincidence, and it couldn't be a coincidence.

"Captain." The team member following behind her gave a warning, his tone carrying a hint of tension.

The underground parking lot was huge, and the few isolated pillars were better than nothing. This also meant that once they crossed into this area, they would lose most of their cover. If someone launched an attack on them from the darkness, they would have nowhere to hide.

"Follow me." Zheng Yi lowered her voice slightly. "Move quickly and find your own cover."

After saying that, Zheng Yi quickly stepped out of the doorway and moved with extreme speed to the nearest support pillar.

Clinging to the pillar behind her, Zheng Yi breathed a slight sigh of relief. Daring not to linger, she lunged straight toward the pillar on the other side.

It was a close call.

Scanning behind her with her peripheral vision, the team member gritted his teeth, stepped out of the corridor door, and ran straight toward the first pillar.

Arriving safely, the team member caught his breath and lunged again toward the second pillar where Zheng Yi was located.

Suddenly, something changed.

Just as the team member lunged out from the first pillar, his figure completely exposed and about to enter the protective range of the second pillar, a gunshot rang out from the darkness.

"Bang!"

The team member's lunging figure stumbled, and he collapsed onto the ground, letting out a groan of pain.

The team member struggled and crawled toward where Zheng Yi was.

"Bang! Bang!" Two more gunshots rang out. Two flowers of blood bloomed on the team member's legs, and his struggling form immediately froze.

"Captain."

"Don't… don't come over." The team member's voice was weak as he said, "They… they did it on purpose. You… don't come over."

Zheng Yi's eyes widened slightly as she looked at the team member just inches away, her teeth clenched tight.

But at this moment, she could not move.

The opponent clearly had night-vision equipment. Once she poked her head out, what would likely greet her was a bullet aimed at her head.

She wasn't afraid of death, but a meaningless death would solve nothing.

The hunter in the darkness was extremely patient. Zheng Yi didn't move, and he wasn't in a hurry either, quietly hiding in the darkness and enjoying the pleasure of the hunt.

Time passed minute by minute.

The team member's groans gradually grew weaker.

Zheng Yi gripped her gun tightly and listened intently to the movements outside.

In such a quiet basement, as long as the opponent moved, she would definitely be able to hear the sound caused by the movement. As long as she could accurately judge the opponent's position, she would be confident of landing a fatal blow, or at the very least, providing brief suppressing fire.

There was only one chance.

And just at this moment, a strange sound reached Zheng Yi's ears.

Zheng Yi looked back and saw a Drone flashing with red and green lights flying rapidly out of the corridor door they had just exited.

Seeming to have spotted her, the Drone adjusted its direction and was preparing to fly toward her.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Three gunshots rang out, and the Drone fell to the ground, shattering into pieces. Some of the fragments, carrying momentum, slid all the way to where Zheng Yi was.

And just as the gunshots rang out and the Drone was shot down, Zheng Yi keenly saw a flash of light that vanished in the darkness.

With a flash, she lunged out, raised her gun, and fired two shots directly at the location of the flash.

A muffled grunt came from that direction.

Zheng Yi knew she had hit the mark.

There was no time to think; Zheng Yi pulled up the team member beside her and dragged him directly behind the pillar.

"Captain…" The team member opened his eyes weakly and managed a faint smile. "I'm… I'm sorry. I've embarrassed you again."

"Shut up." Zheng Yi gave a soft reprimand, unbuttoned the team member's jacket, and checked the wounds. She breathed a slight sigh of relief; the wound on his abdomen wasn't a through-and-through shot, and the wound on his leg had narrowly avoided the bone and artery. As long as she applied simple hemostasis, his life could be temporarily saved.

Taking out the gauze and bandages she carried, she treated the wounds simply. Only then did Zheng Yi say, "You're lucky, kid. You'll be able to return to the team after resting for a couple of days."

The team member smiled faintly again.

Zheng Yi huffed and let him lean against the pillar, while she leaned out slightly to observe the position she had just fired at.

She frowned slightly. She was very confident in her marksmanship, and the earlier grunt did indeed prove that the opponent was injured. But why was the opponent so quiet?

Listening carefully, there was still no sound at all.

It was as if she hadn't hit a person, but a wall.

Turning her head, the wreckage of the Drone not far away was still flashing with red and green lights. Zheng Yi suddenly had an idea.

She reached out to touch the team member's pants, and under his astonished gaze, pulled out his belt.

With the buckle side facing out, she threw it toward the Drone wreckage. She pulled it gently, but there was no feeling of dragging anything.

Zheng Yi didn't give up; she retrieved the belt and continued throwing it toward the Drone.

After two or three times, Zheng Yi finally felt a sense of weight.

Her heart leaped with joy, and she pulled it back quickly.

A pile of parts flashing with lights was in her hand.

Zheng Yi fiddled with it and retrieved a device that looked like a pickup, placing it by her mouth.

"I don't know if you're still on the other side. If you are, send a few more Drones over. The location is the second underground parking lot."

As soon as she finished speaking, a crackling electrical sound came from the Drone parts, and occasionally a male voice could be heard saying something.

"The speaker is broken. I can't hear what you're saying."

Zheng Yi's expression remained calm as she poked her head out to look outside.

Just a moment ago, she had clearly heard the sound of movement from the other side, which meant the opponent had also heard what she just said and had begun to take countermeasures.

But why were there two sets of footsteps?

Before Zheng Yi could think further, "Bang! Bang!" two gunshots rang out, and bullets hit the side of the pillar, sending stone fragments flying.

The opponent's reaction was very decisive; every one of these two shots was precise to the extreme. Zheng Yi even felt the sensation of stone fragments splashing onto her face.

That wasn't all; using the brief gap in suppressing fire, the opponent had already shifted positions repeatedly.

An expert.

Zheng Yi's heart grew cold.

Whether in tactics or movement, the opponent was meticulous. The movements were skillful and fluid; it was very likely a veteran of the battlefield.

She couldn't let the opponent control the rhythm. If he really managed to shift to the side of the pillar, she and the team member would be in danger.

Without hesitation, just as the opponent fired two more shots and was preparing to shift position, Zheng Yi decisively leaned out and fired two shots in the predicted direction.

The gunshots rang out crisply, and sparks flew.

That person took a step out, then quickly ducked back into cover and didn't show his face for several minutes; he must have been frightened by those two shots as well.

One minute, two minutes, three minutes passed.

A buzzing sound echoed in the corridor again.

Zheng Yi looked up and saw three Drones flying rapidly out of the corridor door.

One of the Drones flew rapidly toward her, while the remaining two Drones aimed at the place where the opponent had just been hiding. With a few soft "crackle" sounds, bursts of sparks erupted.

This is…

A glint of brilliance flashed in Zheng Yi's eyes; she had heard this sound before.

Before she could think further, the Drone heading toward her had already flown before her.

"Madam, danger detected. Initiating automatic emergency rescue mechanism. Do you require Guard No. 1 to eliminate the opponent? This may require program authorization."

"Can you capture him alive?" Zheng Yi asked.

"Risk assessment in progress."

The Drone was silent for a moment, then said, "Assessment complete. Madam, the danger level of this person is: Medium. It is recommended to eliminate this person directly; if control is required, it may consume significant resources."

Before the words were finished, a Guard No. 1 had already plummeted to the ground, scattering sparks everywhere.

"Hmm…"

The Drone was silent for a few seconds, then continued, "Guard No. 1 is equipped with the only Weapon system, an electromagnetic rapid-fire cannon, with an ammunition reserve of 25 rounds. It may not be able to complete the mission before the ammunition is exhausted."

"We may need support. Uploading support request."

Watching the Drone hovering in place, flashing with red and green lights, Zheng Yi took the pistol from the team member's hand, quickly removed the magazine to check the remaining ammunition, and then gripped it in her left hand.

With both hands raised, each holding a Type 92 pistol, Zheng Yi said calmly:

"I'll help you."
