231: Chapter 230 I'm willing to be
Wang Shuo had left.
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei stood by the window, watching Wang Shuo walk out of the Police Station building with ease and get into a black business van parked in the courtyard, before returning to his desk.
He woke up his computer and scanned it casually, only for Deputy Chief Li Mingwei to be stunned to discover that the file Wang Shuo had left on his computer had silently disappeared at some point.
"This kid..."
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei muttered, looking at the USB drive he had placed to the side, a bitter smile appearing on his face.
He finally understood why Wang Shuo had left him a USB drive.
Have people in tech reached this level now?
Is this my computer or his?
Shaking his head slightly, he picked up the USB drive and turned to leave the office; he needed to discuss this matter with Director Jiao.
Don't be fooled by how easily he spoke of it; handling a case in another jurisdiction is never that simple.
Especially for a case where the basic evidence has already been secured; as soon as he brought it out, many guests would arrive uninvited, and many of those guests would be at a level he couldn't refuse.
Therefore, it was better to let the person in charge worry about such matters; why should he, a deputy director in charge of specific divisions, bother himself with this?
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei's lips curled up slightly, his mood pleasant.
Director Jiao's office was on the sixth floor.
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei quickly arrived at the office door and reached out to knock gently.
A steady voice came from inside.
"Come in."
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei pushed the door open and entered.
Director Jiao was sitting on the sofa, carefully reading through a document.
"Director."
"Ah, Mingwei." Director Jiao looked up slightly and smiled. "Sit."
After Deputy Chief Li Mingwei sat down, Director Jiao handed him the document in his hand. "Take a look."
"This is?"
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei looked puzzled; he had already seen the large red title on the document, as well as the very prominent signature of Mayor Fang next to it.
This was an important document forwarded by the municipal government.
"A document sent over by the Provincial Department."
Director Jiao's expression was somewhat solemn. "It's about the 615 Case."
"615?"
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei's expression froze. "Hasn't this case already been handed over to the National Security department?"
"It has indeed." Director Jiao nodded, pointing to the document in Deputy Chief Li Mingwei's hand. "This is just to brief us."
"Brief us?"
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei flipped through the document in his hands, his expression becoming serious as well.
"The Ministry of State Security has dispatched a mobile task force through the military, which will arrive in Hanzhong City in the next few days. This document is to pave the way for them."
Director Jiao's tone was calm, but his expression was exceptionally grave. "We must prepare."
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei nodded seriously.
The 615 Case was a major security incident that directly alarmed Beijing, and numerous signs indicated that this incident involved foreign forces.
This alone exceeded the jurisdiction of local police departments.
And this document once again clarified a fact to them: the importance of the forces behind the 615 Case far exceeded expectations. Otherwise, there would be no need to deploy a specialized mobile task force and provide them with written notification to prepare contingency plans in advance.
What are they planning to do?
Use force directly?
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei had a guess in his heart, but he didn't say it out loud.
As a military man, Director Jiao would only analyze it more thoroughly than him; he didn't need any reminders or explanations.
"Relax, things aren't that difficult to handle right now. With Sky Eye, most areas of Hanzhong City are under our surveillance. I believe we have the ability to control the situation."
Seeing Deputy Chief Li Mingwei's serious expression, Director Jiao offered a rare word of comfort, then asked with a smile: "By the way, did that kid Wang Shuo come by today? When is he planning to fulfill the contract? There are still many places in our Hanzhong City that haven't been covered by Sky Eye."
"Director, how did you know..." As he spoke, Deputy Chief Li Mingwei slapped his forehead and smiled bitterly. "I forgot that you have the highest authority for Sky Eye here, Director."
Director Jiao revealed a mysterious smile.
Sky Eye is not only for external use; it applies internally as well.
Just like now, he could access the surveillance footage of any office in the entire Police Station at any time; who was where and doing what was basically clear at a glance.
This was truly convenient.
Especially the voice-operated mode; once you get used to it, you basically can't live without it.
He now wished his own mobile phone could be operated by voice, but unfortunately, Sky Eye could not be directly connected to his own phone. He didn't know if Wang Shuo couldn't do it, or if he could but had restricted it.
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei gathered his thoughts and smiled. "However, Wang Shuo didn't come to talk about the contract today, but to give us a big gift. However, whether or not to accept this gift is up to you, Director."
"Oh?" Director Jiao was somewhat surprised.
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei took the USB drive out of his pocket and placed it on the table.
"This is that big gift?"
Director Jiao glanced at the USB drive.
"Yes." Deputy Chief Li Mingwei nodded solemnly. "But Director, you must think clearly. If you accept this big gift, both you and I will owe Wang Shuo a favor."
"If you don't accept it, I suggest you don't look at the contents inside."
"Stop keeping me in suspense."
Director Jiao widened his eyes. "We've been partners for so many years, don't I know you? Go, get me a laptop. I want to see what that kid Wang Shuo is really up to."
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei smiled bitterly, walked to Director Jiao's desk, carried the laptop from the desk to the coffee table, plugged in the USB drive, and then placed the computer facing Director Jiao.
Director Jiao watched it very carefully.
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei didn't disturb him, waiting quietly.
It wasn't until a dozen minutes later that Deputy Chief Li Mingwei heard Director Jiao let out a long sigh.
"Mingwei." Director Jiao tapped the table gently with his fingers, thought for a moment, and asked, "Did Wang Shuo say where this information came from?"
"He collected it himself."
"What do you think?"
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei thought for a moment and nodded. "It's likely true; Wang Shuo has the ability."
"Hmm." Director Jiao closed his eyes, thinking, and suddenly asked, "How is Wang Shuo's company doing recently?"
Company?
Not understanding why Director Jiao suddenly asked this, Deputy Chief Li Mingwei shook his head. "I'm not too sure."
Then, remembering something, he added, "However, Wang Shuo was carrying a strange metal ball today, saying it was a new product developed by their company, so they must be doing quite well."
"Heh." Director Jiao opened his eyes and gave a faint laugh. "That kid Wang Shuo, he wants us to be his blade."
Deputy Chief Li Mingwei looked surprised.
Be his blade? What does that mean?
Just as he was about to ask, he saw Director Jiao suddenly stand up. "You go and tell Wang Shuo that he can come to me for such things in the future."
"I am willing to be this blade."
A cold glint appeared in Director Jiao's eyes.
"Even if it's just to clear away these social scum, I am willing to be this blade."
