237: Chapter 236: The Operation Begins

Three minutes later, the voice that had just reported sounded again.

"Report, Team Leader, we have located five sources of abnormal feedback within Hanzhong City, and have pinpointed their origins."

"Can you lock onto the specific user?"

Zheng Yi asked.

"No, Team Leader. They are using specialized receiving equipment, so we cannot pinpoint them precisely. Fifty meters is the smallest range we can determine."

Zheng Yi looked at the map position displayed on the screen, her brows furrowing slightly.

Fifty meters? That margin of error was far too large, especially in one of the most densely populated residential areas within the Third Ring Road of Hanzhong City.

She couldn't just send people to search room by room, could she?

"The fifty-meter signal coverage range is too large; we need to narrow it down." Instructor Duan Chengwu turned his head and said in a deep voice, "Team Leader Zheng, I remember the two police officers responsible for the previous attempt to capture Ning Hao mentioned that the target had at least two assistants?"

Zheng Yi was stunned for a moment. Although she didn't know why Instructor Duan Chengwu was suddenly asking this, she still nodded and said, "Yes, we speculate that Ning Hao is not acting alone."

"Hmm." Instructor Duan Chengwu nodded slightly and looked at the operator, "Mark all five detected signal sources."

The operator did not act immediately, but instead turned to look at Zheng Yi.

Zheng Yi nodded slightly.

The operator then marked the five locations on the map, all of which were distributed within the Third Ring Road of Hanzhong City.

Instructor Duan Chengwu scanned them briefly, then pointed to a red circle on the edge of the Third Ring Road.

"Within this signal range, take three circles with a diameter of twenty-five meters passing through the center of the circle, which can be randomly distributed, and then take the centroid of the triangle formed by the centers of the three circles."

The operator was slightly stunned, then quickly performed a series of operations.

The drawing marks faded away, leaving only a small dot on the map, and the name was clearly revealed.

Jiajie Accommodation.

Zheng Yi narrowed her eyes slightly.

"Team Leader Zheng, the rest is up to you." Instructor Duan Chengwu's expression was calm.

Zheng Yi nodded slightly. If Instructor Duan Chengwu's physical condition hadn't prevented it, he would likely already be at the scene of the arrest, and it wouldn't be her job to worry about it.

"Attention all units, the target location has been locked. Everyone, depart immediately and head to the target location."

"All members of the special task force are to change into plain clothes, carry concealed weapons, enter the target location to search for the target, and implement the arrest at the opportune moment. The special operations team is responsible for sealing off the perimeter and controlling personnel."

"Attention, the primary target is Chinese, approximately 1.77 meters tall, of medium build, and may be carrying dangerous weapons. Additionally, there may be two accomplices with the target, presumed to be of European/American descent, possessing above-average combat skills. Do not rule out the possibility that they are carrying weapons. They are extremely dangerous."

...

Watching Zheng Yi issue one instruction after another in an orderly manner, Instructor Duan Chengwu nodded slightly.

To be able to climb to this position at this age, besides the protection of the Zheng family, Zheng Yi's own abilities were indispensable.

Instructor Duan Chengwu didn't have too many thoughts on the matter; after all, strictly speaking, Zheng Yi was a soldier he had brought up and had received his training.

The more outstanding Zheng Yi was, the more it highlighted his own value.

Just...

Instructor Duan Chengwu looked down at his legs.

Underneath his black trouser legs, he had installed the prosthetic limbs customized for him by Wang Shuo. According to the person who delivered them, this pair of prosthetics alone cost nearly one million.

The money was spent, and the items were indeed excellent—much better than the common prosthetics on the market.

After brief training, he could now even walk on his own for short periods without crutches.

Instructor Duan Chengwu showed a bitter smile and shook his head slightly.

He thought he had let it go; he thought he had calmly accepted his disability; he thought he could overcome his psychological barriers. Clearly, he had overestimated himself.

The moment he put on the prosthetics, he still felt a sense of rejection emanating from the bottom of his heart.

He was familiar with this feeling.

It was this unwillingness from the depths of his heart that had led him step by step to his current position.

But now, this unwillingness seemed particularly bitter.

He had lost his qualifications as a soldier.

He had left the battlefield he had fought for his entire life forever.

Regret?

Not at all.

If given another chance to start over, he would still make the same choice without hesitation.

"Instructor Duan, do you have any further guidance?"

While he was lost in thought, a female voice came from beside him.

Instructor Duan Chengwu came back to his senses and saw that Zheng Yi had finished issuing orders at some point and was turning to look at him, asking for his opinion.

"No."

Instructor Duan Chengwu shook his head gently.

In fact, with his current status, just sitting here was already a violation. It was only because of his special status, Zheng Yi's sufficient trust in him, and the unknown care from the higher-ups that he had the qualification to sit here.

But being able to sit here did not mean he could issue orders.

Instructor Duan Chengwu was very clear about this point.

Zheng Yi was not at all surprised by Instructor Duan Chengwu's answer. She nodded and spoke into the microphone by her ear, her voice cold and sharp:

"All units, Operation Black Spider, begin!"

"Yes!"

...

Hanzhong City, Police Station.

The Police Station, which should have only had the duty room lit, was now brightly illuminated.

Police cars had their sirens flashing, and squads of SWAT officers were fully equipped, armed with live ammunition, and standing neatly in the courtyard.

The atmosphere was very solemn.

Sixth floor, Director's office.

A Middle-aged man wearing a black combat uniform walked into the office, looked at Director Jiao, who was standing in front of the window with a solemn expression, stood at attention, and saluted.

"Report, the Hanzhong City Police Station SWAT team has gathered according to your orders and is ready to set out at any time. Please provide instructions."

Director Jiao's lips moved, and finally he uttered two words: "Stand by."

"Yes!"

The SWAT team captain saluted again, then relaxed a little and asked, "Director, what exactly is going on?"

Gathering the SWAT team at 4:00 AM—had some major police incident occurred? Why hadn't he received any news?

"You will be told when you need to know."

Director Jiao glared at this Middle-aged man, "Don't ask about things you shouldn't."

The Middle-aged man was speechless; he was just asking, was it really necessary?

Why did Director Jiao feel like he had eaten gunpowder today, so hot-tempered?

Five minutes later, Deputy Chief Li Mingwei walked into the office.

Seeing the two of them keeping silent, he showed a bitter smile.

"Xiao Zhang, you go out first."

The middle-aged police officer walked out of the office as told, and thoughtfully closed the door.

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei then said, "Director, what is going on?"

"A very tricky matter." Director Jiao paused, seemingly organizing his words, then continued with a hint of helplessness, "Do you remember the Ministry of State Security mobile task force I mentioned to you yesterday?"

"I remember." Deputy Chief Li Mingwei nodded, "You speculated that they came for the 615 case."

"Now it seems my speculation was inaccurate." Director Jiao's voice was heavy, "I just received news that they have arrived in Hanzhong City and are going to conduct an operation tonight."

"What?" Deputy Chief Li Mingwei exclaimed, "Tonight? When?"

As he said this, he already had a bad premonition.

Sure enough, under his gaze, Director Jiao slowly spoke, "Right now."

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei was instantly stunned.

After a while, he realized, "Director, then what are we waiting for? We need to rush to the scene and evacuate the crowd!"

Are you kidding? That is a mobile task force specially dispatched from the military; "armed with live ammunition" is not enough to describe their force configuration.

And the target they are directly mobilizing to arrest without going through the local Police Station—what level of criminal must that be?

For this level of criminal, is it excessive to use knives or guns during the arrest? Is it excessive to throw a bomb or demolish a building if necessary?

It's not excessive, but they would be in a difficult position.

Once such a thing happens, the Police Station, as the local force for maintaining stability, will inevitably be questioned. If they accidentally hurt one or two civilians, then...

"We can't go."

Director Jiao shook his head slightly, his expression slightly gloomy, "The commander-in-chief of this operation is Senior Colonel Zheng Yi, who came to investigate Ning Hao before. She explicitly requested that we must not be dispatched, while also assuring me that the scope of this operation will not be too wide. They will only secretly control the dangerous personnel and try to avoid civilian casualties as much as possible."

"Director!" Deputy Chief Li Mingwei said in a deep voice, "This is not something she can decide on her own. If civilian casualties are really caused, none of us can afford the responsibility!"

"We have already gathered the SWAT team members. I propose we set out immediately to the scene to evacuate the surrounding civilians. We can also help arrest the suspects."

Director Jiao seemed somewhat moved, looking at the flashing police lights outside the window, remaining silent.

One minute passed.

Just as Deputy Chief Li Mingwei couldn't help but prepare to urge him, Director Jiao finally spoke.

"Deputy Chief Li Mingwei."

Deputy Chief Li Mingwei subconsciously stood at attention and shouted, "Present!"

"I order you to lead the SWAT team to the vicinity of the Jiajie Accommodation hotel within the Third Ring Road immediately, to protect the surrounding civilians. If you encounter anyone taking hostages..."

Director Jiao's voice was exceptionally steady.

"I authorize you to use force and shoot to kill!"
