100: The deputy commander was arrested

As the three judges, completely unaware, officially stepped into the pre-arranged encirclement, a group of figures, who had been ambushed for a long time, rushed up in an instant, heading straight for the three oblivious judges.

They swiftly pressed the three judges down onto the dusty street with lightning speed.

“Damn it, who exactly are you people?”

One of the judges, pinned firmly to the ground, struggled and questioned hoarsely, attempting to intimidate the other party with his identity.

“I am a Senior Judge of the Imperial Court! Your actions are a blatant violation of the law!”

He glared, his eyes filled with anger and disdain, as if his identity could be his ticket to immunity.

“Violation of the law?”

A Guard Division Personnel sneered, his gaze revealing an unsparing coldness.

“I think the ones truly violating the law are you! We are from the Guard Division. Based on conclusive evidence, the three of you are suspected of serious corruption and bribery. Now, please come with us willingly!”

As he spoke, he increased the force in his hands, as if to convey his indignation towards these corrupt judges through this action.

Upon hearing the people in front of them identify themselves as Guard Division Personnel, the three judges’ faces instantly turned ashen.

They didn’t even feel the pain from their bodies; their previously arrogant demeanor had vanished without a trace, replaced by faces full of terror and despair.

“It’s over, it’s over. The Guard Division Personnel actually came to arrest us…”

The three people pressed to the ground had blank, lifeless eyes, their lips trembling. As if they had lost their souls, they mechanically muttered to themselves, seemingly still unable to accept this sudden turn of events.

“Let’s go, gentlemen.”

The Guard Division Team Members mercilessly pulled the three of them from the ground, like carrying heavy cargo, and escorted them towards the starship docking area not far away.

Along the way, the three judges stumbled, their spirits lost, with only their heavy footsteps and occasional soft sobs surrounding them.

“Those people just now seemed to be from the Guard Division, right?”

A slightly plump alien craned his neck, his gaze following the departing Guard Division group closely, his face showing a hint of surprise as he couldn’t help but ask the person next to him.

“Definitely. I heard them speak clearly.”

Another alien standing next to him nodded with certainty, a hint of excitement in his eyes, as if he had discovered some major secret.

“Tsk tsk tsk, I didn’t expect there to be such corrupt officials here. It’s great that they were caught! It’s truly gratifying!”

An obviously older alien, his cloudy eyes gleaming with a righteous light, said with emotion.

The surrounding crowd chimed in, one after another, agreeing. Looking at the departing team, their discussions rose and fell like a bustling market… On the other side, at the Trapai Galaxy Guard Division’s encampment, the originally quiet and orderly atmosphere was now broken by a commotion.

“Why is it so noisy outside?”

The Deputy Commander was sitting in his spacious office, his brows furrowed, his work unconsciously coming to a halt.

He listened to the faint clamor from outside his window, a look of confusion on his face.

This was the Guard Division’s territory, always known for strict discipline. Who would dare to make such a ruckus here? This unusual situation filled him with an ominous premonition.

The Deputy Commander decided to get up and see what was happening. He abruptly pushed his chair back, stood up, and quickly walked towards the door.

As soon as he stepped out of his office, he found the hallway deserted and eerily quiet. The busy, orderly figures that usually came and went had vanished without a trace.

“Strange, where are they? Could they all be outside?”

The Deputy Commander mumbled, his confusion growing deeper.

After all, the noise just now came from outside. Since there was no one inside, there seemed to be only one answer.

Thinking this, he quickened his pace, hurrying towards the outside.

As soon as he exited the main gate, the Deputy Commander was stunned by the sight before him. The Guard Division Personnel were standing neatly on both sides of the gate, all of them at the Detachment Commander level or higher. Even his superior, the highest Commander, stood among the crowd with a serious expression.

Each of them had a solemn expression, like statues, and the atmosphere was so oppressive it was suffocating.

“What are you all standing here for?”

The Deputy Commander looked bewildered, his unease rising sharply, and he couldn’t help but ask loudly.

His voice was particularly abrupt in the silence. However, upon seeing the Deputy Commander emerge, everyone simply looked at him in unison, but not a single person answered his question.

Everyone’s gaze was fixed on him, and those gazes, as if carrying a thousand pounds of pressure, made the Deputy Commander shiver involuntarily.

“Hey, what’s wrong with you all? Speak up? You…”

The Deputy Commander’s voice trembled slightly from tension and unease. Before he could finish his sentence, his gaze suddenly fixed on the area in front of the main gate, and he instantly stood there dumbfounded, as if struck by lightning.

In front of the main gate, three people stood prominently.

Two of them wore the same Guard Division uniform as them, their postures upright, their eyes sharp.

However, the person standing in the middle was particularly eye-catching. He wore a pure black uniform, the fabric of superior quality, subtly gleaming with a cold luster in the sunlight.

The vivid red epaulet around his shoulder was especially striking, exquisitely embroidered with the Xili Empire’s emblem, shining brightly in the light.

This uniform was Li Yang’s exclusive Inspector uniform. Its color was deeper than that of the Imperial Military Department’s uniform, as if containing endless majesty.

The number of emblems on the uniform was closely related to the wearer’s status, and that red epaulet with the Imperial emblem was a symbol of the Inspector’s identity, representing supreme oversight authority.

“In… Inspector!”

As a Deputy Commander of the Guard Division, he was all too familiar with the various uniforms of the Empire, so how could he not recognize this as the Inspector’s exclusive attire?

In an instant, his face turned ashen, and large beads of sweat continuously rolled down his cheeks.

Seeing that it was the Inspector himself, accompanied by two Guard Division Personnel, and then looking at the colleagues around him staring intently, the Deputy Commander’s mind immediately became clear. He understood that all his illicit activities had been exposed, and now the higher-ups had sent the Inspector to arrest him.

Li Yang stood there quietly, his gaze calm and profound, not rushing to send people to arrest him.

After all, the person before him was still a Deputy Commander of the Guard Division. Even if he was to be brought to justice, Li Yang was willing to give him a final bit of dignity in front of everyone, unless he himself did not cherish this face.

The Deputy Commander knew very well that Li Yang’s silence and waiting at this moment was giving him a final chance, giving him his last bit of face.

In this life-or-death moment, although his heart was filled with fear and despair, reason told him that he could no longer make futile struggles.

After a moment of thought, he took a deep breath. Although his legs felt heavy as lead and his body trembled uncontrollably, he still mustered the courage and slowly walked towards Li Yang.

The short distance of over ten meters seemed incredibly long in the Deputy Commander’s eyes. Each step he took used all his strength, as if he wasn’t walking, but rather stepping towards the end of his destiny, walking with a lifetime of vicissitudes and helplessness.

His steps were messy and faltering; he seemed unable to control even the most basic act of walking, as if he would collapse at any moment.

Finally, the Deputy Commander struggled to reach Li Yang. At this moment, his face was ashen, and his eyes were filled with terror and helplessness.

The two Guard Division Personnel beside Li Yang saw this and immediately understood. They quickly stepped forward, one on each side, steadily supporting the Deputy Commander.

After all, given his precarious state, if no one supported him, he would likely fall to the ground the next second.

Since the person had been successfully apprehended, Li Yang did not linger. He nodded slightly, turned, and led the Deputy Commander towards the starship waiting nearby.

The group gradually moved away, leaving the Guard Division Personnel standing silently in place, watching their retreating figures, falling into a prolonged silence…
