49: The small power of the small frigate

Just as the Soldiers hadn't yet recovered from their extreme shock, a deafeningly powerful explosion suddenly came from a distance.

"Captain Li Yang, the vanguard has successfully arrived and is launching a fierce siege on the city gates!"

...Meanwhile, outside the gates of Twin Mountain City, the Guards on the city wall were so terrified by the dense, steel-beast-like tanks outside that their legs turned to jelly, and they could barely stand.

"Mon... Monster Beast siege?"

Because they had never seen such a novel and powerful war machine as a tank, the Guards directly mistook the tanks for Monster Beasts.

"Quick, Monster Beasts are attacking! Quickly sound the alarm and immediately activate the city's defensive array!"

As the order was given, the city's defensive array was swiftly activated, and a massive, brilliant magical barrier instantly appeared out of thin air, completely enveloping Twin Mountain City.

"All units, listen up! No need for permission, fire at will!"

After Andegu's order was given, all the tanks and armored vehicles began firing powerful shells towards Twin Mountain City.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

A ground-shaking roar of artillery fire echoed across the sky, and the entire city wall was instantly obscured by the dazzling flames and rolling smoke from the shell explosions.

"Cease fire!"

After a barrage of indiscriminate bombing, as the order was given, the shelling temporarily ceased, and everyone held their breath, quietly waiting for the smoke to gradually dissipate.

They saw that the magical barrier still stood intact, though its color was much dimmer than before.

"So many shells, yet it didn't break? My command! Continue firing!"

Seeing that the barrier had not been successfully broken, Andegu unhesitatingly continued to give orders to fire, since the barrier's color had faded, indicating that the previous attack had been effective.

Inside Twin Mountain City, in a hidden underground room in the city's central square, more than a dozen mages were exerting all their strength to continuously channel magic into a giant crystal over a meter tall.

This crystal was the core of Twin Mountain City's defensive array, and it had to be continuously supplied with magic to maintain its operation, otherwise, the barrier protecting the entire city would disappear.

"We can't hold on much longer, the enemy's attack is too fierce. In such a short time, it has already consumed most of our magic. Lord City Lord, have the other mages not arrived yet for reinforcements?"

One of the mages was already covered in sweat, his breathing ragged, and he anxiously asked Erika, who was standing nearby.

The moment Andegu began the siege, Erika hurriedly hid here with the mages, as he himself only had a Level Six cultivation, and in the face of such a powerful attack, he could not play any role.

"But there are no high-level mages left in the city now, and the two Level Nine mages I brought from my family have unfortunately been killed!"

Erika's face was distorted with frustration, his features somewhat twisted. It was supposed to be his day of boundless glory, so how could it have devolved into such a tragic state? It was just a carnival, why would it trigger a Monster Beast siege?

Erika racked his brains but couldn't figure out that it wasn't Monster Beasts attacking at all.

Outside the city, after enduring another round of bombardment, Andegu's expression also became extremely grim.

This was already the third wave of bombing, and apart from the barrier getting progressively lighter in color, there were no signs of any damage. Who knew how much longer this barrier could hold up.

The vanguard, in pursuit of speed advantage, had only carried half a load of ammunition. If they continued to bomb recklessly like this, at most three more times, they would truly run out of ammunition and have no shells left.

"Andegu, have the city gates not been breached yet?"

Just then, Andegu received a call from Li Yang.

"Captain Li Yang, this city is enveloped by an extremely massive barrier. Our shells have continuously bombarded it for three waves, but we still haven't been able to break it."

Hearing this, Li Yang, who was still in the city, looked up at the sky but did not see any barrier.

It seems this thing is one-way; it can't be seen from the inside. Whether he could see it or not, Li Yang didn't want to continue wasting time like this.

"Alright, you guys Guard outside, I'll think of a way."

"Pal, have the Guard starship fire its laser cannon at the target location I sent."

After ending the call with Andegu, Li Yang immediately contacted Pal in space, giving him the order to command the Guard starship to attack the target location.

If Blue Star's technological means couldn't break you for a while, then I don't believe the starship's powerful firepower can't do anything.

"Yes!"

Upon receiving Li Yang's order, the Guard starship slowly moved its massive cannon, precisely aiming at the target location.

"Target location confirmed, weapon energy adjusted to ten percent, fire!"

A strong, dazzling laser energy instantly shot out from the cannon, rapidly heading straight for Twin Mountain City on the planet.

"Boom!"

An incomparably thick laser, like the wrath of a god, descended from the sky, directly penetrating the so-called city defense array. The powerful energy continued to strike within the city, triggering an earth-shattering explosion!

"WTF!"

Andegu, outside the city, watched with wide eyes as a laser, like a light of doomsday, descended from the sky and directly struck Twin Mountain City.

Recovering from his shock, Andegu quickly shouted for his troops to rush in. As soon as they entered the city, they saw that the city was already a ruin, with bodies strewn everywhere and remnants of broken walls and ruins, with only a few scattered small houses still barely standing.

The center of the city was even more horrific; there was nothing left. Let alone people, even the ruins of buildings had disappeared, leaving only a huge, deep crater.

"Cough, cough, cough..."

Under a ruin on the outermost edge of the city, Li Yang covered his mouth and nose, struggling to crawl out. The other Soldiers followed closely behind him.

"Sure enough, I should try to use the fleet's weapons as little as possible. It was just the weapon on the Guard starship, and only ten percent of its energy was used, yet the entire city was almost flattened. What kind of data am I going to report to the Empire?"

The Soldiers behind Li Yang were now almost stunned. First, the person next to the company commander had his arm turn into a cannon and instantly killed two Level Nine mages. Now, the company commander himself could casually give orders to command the fleet to attack. Anyone could see that their company commander's identity was absolutely extraordinary.

"Forget it, one city shouldn't have a big impact. Anyway, once this city is taken, it will be much easier for the Blue Star Troops to attack the entire Magical Beast Empire."

Li Yang turned around and looked at the Soldiers of his company. Seeing their mysterious company commander look at them, everyone quickly straightened up. To be honest, from joining the army until now, this was the best and most standard their posture had ever been.

"The vanguard has already entered the city. The company is dismissed on the spot; you all return to your original units. As for military merit, it will be truthfully recorded for you."

Without waiting for the Soldiers to react, Li Yang quickly left with T7 to find Andegu.
