247: Big Heart

Before the group could recover from their shock, the Blood Person suddenly waved his arm, as if giving some command.

In an instant, the surrounding Flesh and Blood Creatures went mad, rushing towards them like a surging tide, with an aura of destruction.

Seeing that the enemy had already made their move, Hill and the others instinctively raised their weapons, fingers tightly on the triggers, ready to deliver a heavy blow to the aggressive enemies.

However, just as they were about to open fire, Li Yang stopped them with an outstretched hand.

“Don’t resist, let them do it…” Li Yang said in a low voice, with an undeniable firmness.

Although Hill and the others were full of doubts, completely unsure of Li Yang’s intentions, their long-standing trust led them to obey Li Yang’s decision.

After all, they were all clones; even if they died, it would only be the loss of one clone.

The group slowly lowered their weapons, giving up resistance.

Perhaps because of their unexpected action, the Flesh and Blood Creatures did not attack them; instead, a group of Devourers, like surging crimson shadows, quickly surrounded them.

The Devourers tightly enveloped them, leaving only their heads exposed.

Seeing that Li Yang and his group did not resist, the Blood Person who had spoken seemed somewhat surprised.

A hint of astonishment flashed in his originally dull eyes, and he tilted his head slightly to the side, examining Li Yang and the others up and down with his murky and eerie eyes, as if trying to read their minds.

“What are you looking at?!” Li Yang couldn’t suppress his irritation and retorted directly in Blue Star’s language.

After all, these Blood People might understand the Imperial language, and if he accidentally provoked him and got himself executed on the spot, it would be a huge loss.

Li Yang had his own reasons for telling Hill and the others to give up resistance.

He had been wondering what the “King” mentioned by the Blood Person was.

Could it be the king of the entire Flesh and Blood Civilization? But upon closer thought, it seemed unlikely, as this planet was merely one of many in the Flesh and Blood Civilization.

Given this deduction, could it be the ruler of this planet? After much thought, this seemed to be the only reasonable explanation.

He decided to play along and see who this so-called “King” was and what unknown circumstances they would be led into.

As expected, the Blood Person looked bewildered, clearly not understanding what Li Yang had said in Blue Star’s language.

He merely waved his hand expressionlessly, signaling a group of Flesh and Blood Creatures behind him to take Li Yang and the others away.

Thus, Li Yang and his group were escorted deeper into this mysterious underground space.

Along the way, a nauseating stench of blood permeated the air, and sticky liquid occasionally seeped from the walls, shimmering with an eerie glow under the dim yellow light. They walked for an unknown duration, time seemingly losing its meaning in this oppressive space, until Li Yang’s group was finally brought to an extremely damp place.

The air here was filled with a strong, putrid smell, like the stench emanating from countless rotting creatures piled together, making one almost gag.

Upon entering this space, Li Yang found that there were already several Students inside, their condition identical to his group: completely enveloped by Devourers, with only their heads exposed.

The Devourers were like viscous, crimson cocoons, tightly encasing the Students’ bodies, with occasional slight wiggling visible on their surfaces.

“What is this?” Li Yang couldn’t help but ask.

Hearing the familiar voice, the Students laboriously turned their heads.

When they saw Li Yang and his group also bound, a hint of helplessness flashed in their eyes, and they shook their heads slightly.

“So you guys got caught too.” One of the Students said with a bitter smile.

“We were clearing Flesh and Blood Creatures on the planet’s surface earlier, and it went pretty smoothly at first. But for some reason, more and more of those monsters started swarming in like a tide. We fought desperately, and our battle armor’s energy was completely depleted. In the end, we had no choice but to be captured alive by them… What about you guys? What happened?”

The person speaking was the Squad Captain who had previously planned to adopt a cautious strategy on the surface, intending to muddle through the assessment.

His face was etched with fatigue and frustration, clearly having endured much hardship in his previous encounter.

Originally, they had indeed planned to adopt a strategy of complacency in the assessment, thinking that just leisurely wandering around the planet until the assessment ended would complete the mission.

However, during their wanderings, they accidentally encountered and dealt with a group of Flesh and Blood Creatures.

This unexpected victory gave them a taste of success, so they were no longer content with their previous cautious strategy and decided to take the initiative, seeking out more Flesh and Blood Creatures, attempting to accumulate more assessment merits by eliminating them.

But who would have thought that this decision would push them into their current predicament?

After hearing their description, Li Yang smiled bitterly and replied, “Our experience is similar to yours.”

But he mused inwardly, “They were only captured after their battle armor’s energy was exhausted. It seems those Flesh and Blood Creatures intended to capture us alive from the start… What exactly do they want to do?”

Li Yang’s brows furrowed tightly, his heart filled with doubt and vigilance.

Just then, a heavy and slow footsteps broke the silence in the space.

Three Blood People walked in with synchronized steps, their expressions particularly solemn, even carrying a hint of reverence.

They respectfully knelt towards the darkness, emitting soft roars, their voices low and strange.

After a while, the three Blood People stood up in unison, then led everyone deeper into the darkness.

As they delved deeper, Li Yang heard a strange sound more and more clearly.

The sound was steady and powerful, one beat after another, like… the sound of a heartbeat.

At first, the sound was faint, requiring careful discernment to hear, but the deeper they went, the clearer and louder the sound became.

Suddenly, the leading Blood Person stopped, and the thunderous heartbeat became loud enough for everyone to hear.

Just then, the dim lights, as if controlled by some mysterious force, slowly brightened.

Everyone’s gaze followed the light, only to see a gigantic heart beating frantically on a massive wall made of flesh and blood.

This heart was as large as a house, its surface covered with thick blood vessels, and with each beat, crimson blood surged through the vessels, emanating a chilling aura.

“Is this their so-called ‘King’?” Li Yang gazed at the enormous heart before him, which resembled a colossal beast, a complex emotion welling up in his heart, and he couldn’t help but exclaim softly.

The scene before him was truly too shocking.
