76: Anno's father

This was undoubtedly an excellent opportunity to expand his social circle and build connections. Although his future was indeed limitless, as the saying goes, a genius who hasn't matured yet cannot be considered a genius.

“Captain Li Yang, Governor An Nuo of Mars is here to visit and hopes to meet with you.”

Just as Li Yang and Martin were still chatting warmly, Li Yang received a message from the receptionist.

“Anno? That name sounds a bit familiar... Never mind. Since you have something to attend to, I’ll take my leave for now... Oh, and don’t forget your old brother when you make it big in the future!”

“Don’t worry, don’t worry, I definitely won’t forget.”

Seeing Martin’s projection disappear, Li Yang smiled helplessly.

“I’m not some ungrateful scoundrel, honestly...”

“But why is this Anno here? Could it also be to congratulate me on completing my mission?”

Li Yang was full of doubt, pondering to himself.

But no matter what, since he was already here, Li Yang had to meet him.

“Bring him up.”

Li Yang relayed the instruction to the receptionist through the light screen.

Not long after, there was a crisp knock on the office door.

“Come in...”

“Congratulations, Captain Li Yang... No, Inspector...”

As soon as Anno walked in, his face was plastered with a fawning smile, and he clasped his hands, offering continuous congratulations.

“Sure enough, this Governor An Nuo is no simple character. Even Martin didn’t know about my appointment until I told him, yet Anno, a Mars Governor, received the news immediately.”

Li Yang thought silently in his heart, observing Anno’s demeanor.

To acquire such information so quickly, he must have a powerful backer, at least reliable connections within the Galactic Administrative Center Department.

“The title ‘adult’ is really too much; we’re not some feudal empire.”

Li Yang responded quite modestly.

“You’re right, Captain Li Yang, please forgive me. My mouth has no gate, I spoke out of turn, haha.”

Seeing this, Anno quickly patted his mouth lightly, saying with a look of apology.

“Alright, what exactly did you come to see me for? Don’t tell me it’s just purely for congratulations...”

Li Yang still smiled, but his gaze was scrutinizing as he asked.

“Captain Li Yang, you’re truly overthinking things. I indeed came specifically to offer my congratulations, but incidentally... this small token of my regard, please accept it...”

As he spoke, Anno carefully took out a card from behind his back again and gently placed it on Li Yang’s desk.

“A card? What does this mean?”

Li Yang frowned slightly, looking at Anno with confusion.

“This is a Member card for the Hope Merchant Guild, the largest trading guild in the Empire. With this card, all purchases at the Guild start at an 80% discount, and on any planet where a Guild branch is located, there will be free accommodation and restaurants specifically provided for you.”

After hearing Anno’s description, Li Yang couldn’t help but pick up the card with interest and examine it carefully.

The entire card was dominated by black and white, with the striking emblem of the Hope Merchant Guild printed on one side, and his own name neatly written on the other.

“Governor An Nuo, this gift is truly too valuable; I can’t accept it...”

Although this card made Li Yang very tempted, after all, an 80% discount from the start meant he could save an unknown amount if he were to purchase a starship.

But Li Yang still handed the card back, as this gift was indeed a bit too valuable.

“Captain Li Yang, how could you not accept it? Besides, this isn’t just a small token from me, but a heartfelt gesture from my father. Please accept it...”

Seeing Li Yang refuse to accept it, Anno’s face instantly showed a hint of panic, and he quickly handed the card over again, explaining eagerly.

“Your father? Who is your father? Would you mind telling me?”

So, after all this, it was Anno’s father who wanted to connect with him. However, Li Yang wasn’t willing to connect with just anyone. If the other party couldn’t offer any substantial help, then there was no need to connect.

After all, now that his status had risen, his horizons naturally had to be higher. He couldn’t let just any random person curry favor with him.

“To be honest, my father is the chief justice of the Imperial Court of This Galaxy Cluster.”

Anno said with a solemn expression.

This Galaxy Cluster? Doesn’t that include the Milky Way Galaxy? Thinking about it that way, Anno’s background is no ordinary one! One must know that This Galaxy Cluster has approximately 50 Galaxies, including the Milky Way Galaxy.

This is equivalent to one being a city and the other a county; the level is exactly twice as large as the Milky Way Galaxy.

“Ahem, so it’s the Chief Justice. It seems my future work will require much care and consideration from your father...”

Since someone of such a high level was interested in connecting with him, Li Yang was naturally more than willing.

After all, this chief justice, by this calculation, would have an administrative rank of at least C, right? Moreover, his current position as Inspector also placed them on the same path.

Seeing this, Li Yang calmly accepted the card Anno handed over.

Watching Li Yang accept the gift, Anno secretly breathed a sigh of relief, as this was something his father had specifically instructed him to accomplish.

Furthermore, Anno himself understood the immense value of a Lieutenant being able to achieve military-political integration.

“Haha, I’ll accept the gift. If there’s anything you need help with in the future, don’t hesitate to ask me.”

Li Yang said with a broad, smiling face.

“You can rest assured, I definitely won’t ask you to do anything illegal or disorderly. After all, you are an Inspector, and I understand that basic principle.”

Seeing this, Anno also smiled and quickly responded.

Hearing this, Li Yang couldn’t help but think highly of Anno. After all, people who are sensible like this were very much to Li Yang’s liking.

If Anno genuinely needed help in the future, as long as it didn't violate Imperial laws, Li Yang would certainly assist him.

“Oh, Captain Li Yang, that crystal ball earlier, you...”

“Crystal ball? That star map crystal ball? What about it?”

If Anno hadn’t asked, Li Yang would have almost forgotten about that thing.

“That’s right. Although that crystal ball can help you find an ownerless planet, and it can unconditionally belong to you, if that planet is discovered and occupied by someone else first, then even if you find it later, it won’t belong to you.”

After hearing what Anno said, Li Yang instantly understood his meaning.

In simple terms, he should find that planet as soon as possible, otherwise, once someone else finds and claims it first, the crystal ball would completely lose its value.

“If you need fleet assistance, I can provide you with a free star-class fleet.”

Seeing Li Yang still in thought, Anno quickly offered his help.

A star-class fleet? His generosity was truly immense. One must know that Li Yang currently only had one starship that barely qualified as star-class, and he hadn't even received it yet... “Forget it, I appreciate your kindness, but it’s more convenient to use my own.”

If he used Anno’s fleet, the crew would naturally be Anno’s people, which Li Yang wasn't very accustomed to. It was always more comfortable to use his own people.
