456: Restarted Intelligent Brain
Qi Yu looked in the direction he pointed, her brows slowly furrowing.
As a doctor, she knew better than anyone the severity of the injury; a penetrating wound near the heart, with a blood loss that surely reached a lethal amount.
Even if he were rushed to the operating room immediately, the survival rate would be less than thirty percent.
Yet, the person before her, though his breathing was weak, was undeniably alive, and the edges of his wound even glowed faintly, as if slowly healing despite the bleeding.
This truly defied all logic.
"...That makes some sense."
Qi Yu murmured, the doubt in her voice gradually wavering.
"This injury, it really shouldn't have lasted this long."
She looked up at Qi Fang, her eyes complex.
"So what do we do now? Just watch him?"
Seeing his sister relent, Qi Fang immediately breathed a sigh of relief and quickly said,
"You're a doctor! Can't you at least help him with his wound? The black sphere said he's a division commander from their empire, so he must be very important.
If something happens to him while he's with us..." He didn't finish, but the implication was clear.
Qi Yu looked at the unconscious stranger on the bed, then at her brother's pleading face, her heart in turmoil.
Finally, she sighed and stood up.
"Where's the first-aid kit? Let's treat the wound first.
As for aliens...I'll have to see."
After all, this was too much of a paradigm shift—she had been a doctor for so long, saved at least eighty if not a hundred people, but saving an alien was a first.
"Oh, right, where's that black sphere?"
Seeing the doubt on his sister's face lessen, Qi Fang quickly went out and brought back both the first-aid kit and the black sphere.
"Look, it's this..."
Before he could finish, the black sphere in his palm suddenly trembled slightly, its surface glowing with a faint blue light.
It slowly floated up, leaving his hand, and spun around in mid-air.
"Energy has reached minimum threshold..."
A mechanical electronic voice came from the black sphere, weaker than before, but clearly audible.
The AI's carrier, the black sphere, had run out of energy and entered hibernation earlier, but it hadn't been idle.
During its dormancy, it had silently absorbed all available energy from its surroundings.
The moonlight filtering through the window crack, the wind sweeping past outside, even the body heat radiating from Qi Fang when he carried it—all these tiny bits accumulated for a long time, barely enough to restart it.
Qi Yu watched, wide-eyed, as the black sphere hung in mid-air, its blue light flickering.
Her fingers tightened on the first-aid kit.
Now, she had no choice but to believe.
As soon as the AI awoke, it shot towards the power outlet in the corner like a compass finding its target.
Before the siblings could react, a hair-thin data cable popped out from its surface and clicked precisely into the socket.
The next second, the incandescent light in the room suddenly flickered violently, the shifting light and shadows making one dizzy.
"Zzzzt—"
With a soft sound, the light abruptly went out, plunging the room into instant darkness.
Not just this room, but soon the neighbors' exclamations could be heard downstairs.
"Hey? Why is the power out?"
"My house is dark too!"
"The whole building's lights are off?"
Qi Fang fumbled in the dark for his phone and turned on the flashlight, the beam illuminating the black sphere.
It was still plugged into the socket, its blue light brighter than before, and the electronic voice spoke again, with a steady, "satisfied" tone.
"Energy replenishment in progress, current acquisition efficiency... low."
Qi Yu stood in the darkness, her back pressed against the cold wall, feeling that this night was becoming increasingly bizarre.
She turned her head to her brother, her voice extremely low.
"It... it sucked all the electricity from the entire neighborhood?"
Qi Fang swallowed, his hand holding the phone trembling slightly.
"It... it looks like it... This alien thing, its appetite is too big, isn't it?"
In the darkness, the black sphere hanging by the socket glowed quietly, like a luminous pearl that had secretly drunk its fill, yet no one dared to approach it again.
Who knew if it would gnaw through all the wires in the entire building next second?
"What's going on? A sudden power outage in the middle of the night, is the property management asleep?"
Complaints from neighbors rose and fell downstairs, some shining their phone flashlights out the windows, the beams swaying in the darkness.
In Qi Fang's home, the siblings held their breath, staring at the black sphere still plugged into the socket, illuminated by the faint light of the phone screen.
"Energy has reached basic medical threshold, initiating repair program."
No sooner had the electronic voice finished than the black sphere shot out of the socket, its data cable instantly retracting, and floated directly to Li Yang's bedside.
The next second, several soft green light beams shot from the black sphere, precisely enveloping the wound on Li Yang's chest, like a warm, thin veil wrapped around the injury.
Qi Yu subconsciously leaned closer, her eyes widening even more.
She watched with her own eyes as the deep, bone-visible wound healed at an astonishing speed!
The everted flesh seemed to be pulled inward by an invisible hand, slowly retracting, and the edges of the stark white bone fragments glowed with a faint golden halo, visibly smoothing out.
In just a moment, the fist-sized wound had shrunk by half, the seeping blood slowly coagulated and scabbed over, finally fading into a faint mark.
What shocked her even more was that Li Yang's blood-stained, torn clothes also glowed faintly under the green light.
The damaged fabric edges wiggled and stitched themselves together as if alive, the scorched marks gradually fading, revealing the smooth texture beneath, as if the severe trauma had never occurred.
"This... this is..."
Qi Yu covered her mouth, speechless for a long time.
She was accustomed to seeing various advanced medical technologies in the hospital, but she had never witnessed such efficient "phototherapy" that could even repair clothing.
This was beyond all her understanding of medicine.
Little did she know, this wasn't the AI's repair at all; it was simply the military uniform absorbing external energy and beginning self-repair.
Without the protection of the military uniform, Li Yang wouldn't have survived until the escape pod landed.
Qi Fang's hand, holding the phone, trembled slightly, the beam of light sweeping across Li Yang's face.
His complexion seemed a bit rosier, and his breathing was much steadier than before.
He secretly glanced at his sister, seeing only shock on her face.
The black sphere's green light gradually weakened, finally retracting into its body as a thin line.
It hovered above Li Yang for a moment, as if confirming the repair's effectiveness, then slowly floated back to the bedside table, leaving only a faint glow, as if entering a standby state.
Silence returned to the room, broken only by the faint sounds of neighbors' discussions from outside the window.
Qi Yu recovered, gently touched Li Yang's arm; it was no longer cold as before, but had some warmth.
She looked at Qi Fang, her voice filled with an undeniable complexity.
"It seems... everything you said is true."
Qi Fang nodded heavily, the stone that had been weighing on his heart for so long finally settling.
