260: Several people were shocked

“You scared me! I thought you were going to casually say you knew someone important in the Guard Division again, just like before.”

Hill exaggeratedly patted his chest, let out a long breath, and couldn't help but sigh.

During this time, Li Yang's connections had truly shown everyone his “power,” which was why Hill said that.

“There is such a person, but he doesn't work at the Guard Division headquarters,” Li Yang said slowly, his gaze thoughtful.

“But if possible, I’ll see if I can arrange for you to transfer to where he works. After all, working in an unfamiliar environment, where you don’t know anyone, having an acquaintance to look after you is definitely much better than venturing out on your own.”

“Really? That would be wonderful!”

Hearing Li Yang say that, Vivienne’s eyes immediately flashed with surprise, and she quickly said gratefully.

She understood that military officers transferring to the Guard Division were usually assigned randomly to positions according to regulations. Having the opportunity to go to a place where she knew someone was undoubtedly a highly sought-after good thing.

“We’re all family; it’s only right to help and look out for each other,” Li Yang said with a smile, his face radiating sincerity.

The few of them sat together, continuing their lively discussion about future development plans, the atmosphere harmonious and cheerful.

Just then, Li Yang’s smart brain suddenly emitted a continuous beeping sound in his mind, constantly reminding him of new messages.

“What message is it? It keeps reminding me…”

Li Yang’s attention was drawn by the incessant beeping. He stopped talking to the others and muttered in confusion.

As he spoke, he skillfully tapped a few times in the air, opening a light screen emitting a soft blue glow, ready to investigate what urgent and important message it was.

The content slowly appearing on the light screen made Li Yang’s eyes widen instantly.

That message was none other than the latest appointment letter from the Xili Empire Supreme Political Council.

His gaze quickly scanned line after line of text. As he read further, his breathing involuntarily grew heavy, and he seemed to be frozen in place, staring intently at the notification on the light screen, his eyes filled with shock and disbelief.

“Hey, Li Yang, what are you looking at? So engrossed.”

Hai An, who was beside him, saw Li Yang's appearance and became incredibly curious.

The others also followed Hai An’s gaze and saw Li Yang staring at the light screen, his face blank, as if deeply captivated by something.

They exchanged glances, then all stood up and moved closer, eager to see what it was that could make the usually composed Li Yang so flustered.

“Appointment letter… This Galaxy Cluster special inspector… D6-level…”

Hai An read out the particularly eye-catching words on the light screen, one by one, his voice unconsciously trembling.

The few of them instantly froze as if under a spell, all standing dumbfounded, their faces filled with disbelief.

“Is… is something wrong with my eyes?”

Guttri rubbed his eyes, muttering to himself, as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

His voice held a hint of bewilderment, as if he was seeking confirmation from others, or perhaps asking himself.

“No, I think… it must be something wrong with all our eyes…”

Hill was equally shocked. He vigorously rubbed his eyes, wanting to confirm if he had seen wrongly.

But when he looked again, those words were still clearly displayed on the light screen.

His mouth was wide open, enough to fit an egg, and his eyes stared straight at Li Yang, filled with a mix of awe and confusion.

“Cough, cough, don’t look at me like that.”

Li Yang, who was the first to recover from the shock, felt a little uncomfortable under their gazes and quickly waved his hand to explain.

“This was a decision from above; I had no idea about it beforehand.”

As he spoke, he tried to make his tone sound calm, but the turmoil in his heart was still difficult to completely suppress.

“Li Yang, don’t try to gloss over it. Be honest, do you have connections in the Imperial Supreme Political Council?”

Hill’s eyes widened, and he stared at Li Yang suspiciously, as if trying to discern the truth from his face.

“Exactly! Tell us, you’re not the Emperor’s illegitimate son, are you? Otherwise, how do you explain this rocket-like promotion speed!”

Guttri also chimed in, half-jokingly, half-seriously questioning him, his eyes filled with a mix of teasing and curiosity.

The few of them, one after another, bombarded Li Yang with questions like a rapid-fire cannon, their words becoming more and more outrageous.

“What are you all talking about! It’s not at all what you’re thinking.”

Li Yang didn’t know whether to laugh or cry and quickly waved his hands repeatedly to deny it.

“I really didn’t know about this decision from above beforehand. Maybe the higher-ups considered everything and thought I could handle this job, so they have high hopes for me?”

Li Yang tried to explain patiently, but facing their wild guesses, he himself felt that his explanations sounded a bit weak and unconvincing.

After all, such a promotion was indeed too astonishing, even he himself felt like he was dreaming.

Hearing Li Yang’s explanation, the few of them exchanged glances, looking at each other, then all shook their heads, their faces full of disbelief.

Immediately after finishing his advanced studies, he received a promotion and appointment to such a high-level official position, wielding immense power. If this story were told, anyone would find it hard to believe that there wasn't a deep background supporting it.

“Alright, alright, think whatever you want.”

At this point, Li Yang knew that no matter how much he tried to explain, in their eyes, it would only be an attempt to cover up the truth.

After all, this sudden immense surprise, let alone for them, even for himself, upon seeing the appointment letter, felt dreamlike and unbelievable.

This was a D6-level position, a rank directly equivalent to his current lieutenant colonel military rank, not to mention an Inspector position with unimaginably great power, managing extremely important affairs and carrying significant responsibilities.

Such an opportunity falling upon him was truly too incredible… In the solemn and majestic Imperial Court of This Galaxy Cluster, bright light streamed through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, scattering onto the clean floor and reflecting a soft glow.

An Cheng was focused on his work when he suddenly heard his subordinate announce Speaker Ou Ben’s visit, a hint of surprise welling up in his heart.

It was known that although both were two of the few C-level officials in the entire This Galaxy Cluster, holding high positions of power in their respective fields, they rarely interacted or met in person except for attending some important conferences, due to the completely different matters they oversaw.

“Chairman Ou, what a rare guest, welcome, welcome!”

In the spacious and bright office, seeing Ou Ben push open the door and enter, An Cheng immediately put down his work, his face beaming with a warm smile, and quickly stood up to greet him, extending his hand in a gesture for him to sit.
