267: Personnel Adjustments

During the eloquent discussion, Li Yang suddenly changed the subject, scanning the entire room with piercing eyes, and then asked abruptly.

"Does anyone have any thoughts on what I just spoke about?"

This sudden question instantly made the atmosphere in the conference room even more solemn, as if the air had solidified a bit.

Upon hearing this, everyone exchanged glances, looking at each other, but no one was willing to be the first to speak up.

Each person was weighing their own options, unsure how to respond to this seemingly ordinary yet subtly profound inquiry.

"What? Is no one going to speak up?"

Li Yang spoke again, his voice slightly raised, with a hint of undeniable authority.

He continued to look around, his sharp gaze like an array of keen swords, sweeping across everyone's faces.

Anyone whose gaze he met felt as if they had been struck by an electric current, quickly lowering their heads, as if by avoiding Li Yang's eyes, they could escape this "storm."

Just in this slightly awkward moment of silence... "Inspector Li, I believe that regarding officials who violate laws and discipline..."

An official sitting in the back row of the conference room suddenly stood up.

He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, and then clearly articulated his views.

Although his voice trembled slightly due to nervousness, every word he spoke was forceful, and his slightly hurried speech echoed in the conference room.

Li Yang listened quietly, his expression gradually softening, and a look of approval appeared in his eyes as he nodded in satisfaction.

After the official finished speaking, Li Yang asked.

"What is your name? What position do you currently hold?"

"Reporting to Inspector Li, my name is Kang Wei, and I currently serve as the Deputy Minister of Logistics Department."

Kang Wei was filled with excitement; gaining Li Yang's attention seemed like a great honor to him, and he quickly straightened his back, answering in a loud voice.

"Logistics Department..."

Li Yang narrowed his eyes slightly, slowly repeating the department's name, then stared directly at Kang Wei with a scrutinizing gaze.

"This is the department most prone to corruption and misconduct. You haven't engaged in any illegal activities, have you?"

Li Yang's tone was calm, yet carried an invisible pressure.

Hearing Li Yang's words, everyone present felt a jolt in their hearts, secretly sweating for Kang Wei, and silently thinking he was unlucky.

This was also why they hadn't dared to be the first to speak up earlier; no one knew whether this unpredictable Inspector Li was preparing to make an example of someone or had some other deeper meaning... The atmosphere in the entire conference room grew increasingly tense, and everyone held their breath, awaiting Kang Wei's response.

And Kang Wei, the person involved, under Li Yang's stern, piercing gaze, seemed to be tightly bound by an invisible shackles, trembling uncontrollably.

Large beads of sweat continuously rolled down his forehead, soaking his collar, and the fear in his heart overwhelmed him like a surging tide.

"Of course not, please rest assured, Inspector Li!"

Kang Wei almost used all his strength to explain loudly, his voice tinged with a tremble and urgency.

"Since I took office, I have always upheld discipline and law as my guiding principles, and I have absolutely no illegal or disciplinary conduct. I swear to the Emperor, not a single word is false!"

"Don't be afraid, I was just asking casually."

Li Yang's voice finally softened a bit, and a faint smile appeared on his face.

"From your coherent remarks just now, I knew you weren't that kind of person."

Hearing Li Yang's words, Kang Wei's tense nerves finally relaxed with a sigh of relief, and he let out a long breath.

Not only Kang Wei, but the others in the conference room also secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Li Yang didn't make an example of Kang Wei, which seemed to indicate that their previous thoughts, such as "Li Yang wants to assert his authority," might have just been overthinking on their part.

"Sit down."

Li Yang waved his hand, looking at Kang Wei with a gentle gaze.

"It seems our comrade has a strong sense of self-cultivation, knowing what is right and what is wrong. This is very good."

After speaking, he unhurriedly reached for the water cup on the table, took a small sip, his movements elegant and steady, then cleared his throat and slowly said.

"Next, we will formally discuss the internal personnel movements within the Milky Way Galaxy."

As soon as they heard that this crucial matter had finally arrived, everyone's attention instantly became highly focused, their eyes collectively fixed on Li Yang, filled with tension and anticipation.

They were all secretly speculating whether their positions would change in this discussion, whether they would rise quickly or fall drastically; everything was still up in the air.

However, Coens and Neil, on the other hand, did not react much.

After all, the two of them had a close relationship with Li Yang and had always been his staunch supporters.

Not to mention their friendship with Li Yang, it was highly probable that Li Yang would not easily move them.

Even if their positions were genuinely involved in a change, Li Yang could only follow the formal procedure of reviewing and investigating illegal activities, and it was not a matter for a single meeting.

But others might not have this composure.

Everyone knew that Coens and Neil were Li Yang's confidantes. Although Li Yang might not be able to directly transfer their positions, Coens, as the Speaker of the Galaxy Council, held significant power and had the authority to transfer officials.

This meant that the personnel movements of others could very well be at the whim of Coens and Li Yang, so everyone was exceptionally nervous, and the atmosphere in the conference room once again became solemn.

"First, what we need to discuss is the personnel adjustment in the Logistics Department..."

Li Yang's voice clearly echoed in the conference room, like a stone thrown into a calm lake, instantly stirring up a thousand ripples.

Upon hearing this, everyone subconsciously turned their gaze towards Kang Wei, their eyes carrying various complex meanings.

And Kang Wei, the person involved, who was still immersed in the lingering shock of the potential personnel movement, instantly turned pale.

He was terrified and secretly complained bitterly.

Why me again? I really didn't say anything wrong just now! Heavens, what on earth is going on?

"Regarding comrade Kang Wei of the Logistics Department..."

Li Yang looked at Kang Wei with a firm gaze, his eyes filled with affirmation and appreciation.

"I believe he has outstanding abilities, especially his unique views and profound insights when discussing issues related to corrupt officials just now. It is important to know that as a member of the Logistics Department, having such insights and a sense of self-examination is extremely rare and crucial. Therefore, I propose that comrade Kang Wei be promoted to Minister of Logistics Department, and the original Minister be demoted to Vice Minister."

As soon as Li Yang uttered these words, the entire conference room fell into a brief silence, then everyone's expressions varied, all looking at the Minister of Logistics Department with complex emotions.

Their eyes seemed to say.

Who would have thought, truly, who would have thought that we expected Kang Wei to be made an example of, but this "knife" has fallen on your head instead.
