61: missile launch
The entire battle raged fiercely from dusk until dawn the next day, the long night seemingly illuminated forever by the flames of war.
During this arduous time, on average, every minute, even every second, someone tragically lost their life; life here became so fragile, and the shadow of death loomed over everyone.
“Retreat!”
Finally, the Commander of the Chaos Empire, looking at his heavily damaged and demoralized army, reluctantly waved his hand and ordered a retreat.
After this thrilling night of fighting, the vast majority of 100,000 Imperial Soldiers of the Chaos Empire had been lost.
The remaining scattered Soldiers could only hastily withdraw from the city, their expressions panicked, fleeing this place that was like a terrifying “meat grinder.”
The battlefield was filled with lingering smoke, like a thick haze; looking out, bodies lay everywhere, and the landscape was ravaged, a shocking sight. This intensely fierce siege battle finally ended with the difficult victory of the Blue Star Troops.
However, the situation for the Blue Star Troops was also not optimistic. After this night of desperate fighting, the defending forces were also few in number, having suffered heavy casualties.
If the Chaos Empire had continued its attack regardless of the cost, it’s uncertain if the Blue Star Troops could have held onto this war-torn city… “Bastard! Bastard!”
Upon receiving news of his troops’ defeat, the King of the Chaos Empire instantly flew into a rage, his eyes bloodshot, like a mad lion.
He frantically waved his arms, smashing precious items in the palace without restraint. Exquisite porcelain instantly shattered into pieces, magnificent tapestries were ripped to the ground, and valuable furniture became fragmented in his fury.
After a period of venting, the King finally gradually calmed down, slumping wearily onto his throne, his brows furrowed, beginning to rack his brains on how to respond next.
After all, if even 100,000 Soldiers could not break through a city garrisoned by the enemy, one could imagine how powerful the enemy’s strength was, simply beyond imagination.
After a long period of contemplation, the King silently picked up a pen and paper, wrote a letter with a flourish, and then called a Messenger, saying with a solemn expression.
“Go and find a way to deliver this letter to the so-called Blue Star Troops…”
After these two fierce battles, the renown of the Blue Star Troops spread rapidly across the entire planet like a tempest.
Whether it was the Five Great Empires or various rogue adventurers, they had all basically become aware of the striking designation “Blue Star Troops.”
On the other side, in the Blue Star Troops’ main camp, Andegu stared intently at the images transmitted by the satellite, his face filled with surprise.
In a vast forest, a team, like a winding giant python, was quietly advancing towards the Magical Beast Empire under the cover of the dense forest.
This team stretched for several kilometers, with women making up the majority. Without exception, they all had delicate pointed ears, clearly indicating they were elves.
“This should be the Forest Empire’s support troops… Prepare the missiles!”
Andegu shouted loudly, a hint of ruthlessness flashing in his eyes. What if they were women? An enemy was an enemy; whether male or female, human or ghost, they were all enemies!
Although missiles could not be used to bomb cities, bombing forests was still feasible.
As Andegu’s order was given, the lights in the Command Center brightened. Rows of precision instruments and screens flickered with complex and numerous data and images. Technical personnel were fully focused, their hands flying across control panels, accurately inputting various commands.
In an open clearing, missile launchers loaded with huge missiles stood silently on the ground. The missiles on top slowly began to rise until they were fully upright.
“Target position confirmed, missile launch system ready, awaiting final command!”
A report sounded clearly in the communication channel inside the missile launcher.
Andegu took a deep breath, his gaze firm, and decisively gave the order.
“Launch!”
With this command, the operators inside the vehicle pressed the launch button without hesitation.
Instantly, a strong current, like a surging torrent, rapidly poured into the bottom of the missile through thick cables. A scorching hot flame erupted from the missile’s tail, accompanied by a deafening roar that seemed to tear the heavens, and the missile slowly began to ascend.
The ejected flames grew increasingly vigorous, as if to engulf everything around them, and the scorching heat intensely warped and deformed the surrounding air.
The missile’s speed climbed steadily, faster and faster. The immensely powerful thrust caused the entire missile launcher to tremble violently, as if it would fall apart.
Missiles, unstoppable, broke through layers of clouds, leaving a long white contrail behind them. The contrail gradually spread across the vast sky, like a giant dragon of immense size winding and swimming freely in the air.
The missile flew higher and higher, until it became an almost imperceptible tiny dot, finally disappearing into the horizon.
