569: Petty?
As the final lot was settled, the tense atmosphere in the auction hall finally began to relax slowly.
Guests left in twos and threes, whispering to each other. Li Yang stood up, exchanged a few brief pleasantries with some new acquaintances, and expressed an intention for future mutual assistance.
These people had a genuine desire to befriend him in their eyes; after all, Li Yang's lavish spending during that nearly insane bidding war had left a deep impression on them.
Someone with a promising career in the government and considerable wealth was a hot commodity in everyone's eyes, not to mention that he was also a human.
"Let's go, it's time to leave here."
Li Yang turned his head and said quietly to the few people beside him.
Just as he raised his foot, preparing to head toward the consciousness transmission area, two figures silently blocked his path.
The newcomers stood on his left and right, their figures tall and straight, their auras steady. They were the two nobles from the auction earlier.
Li Yang's footsteps faltered, and he frowned slightly.
In this kind of consciousness space, once he chose to exit, these nobles would not be able to find him easily again, unless they traveled to the distant Longlan Star Cluster.
In other words, this was their only chance to "corner" him.
"Could it be... that these two are actually the type of people with super petty minds?"
Li Yang muttered to himself.
He didn't fear conflict, but if he were to be held a grudge against because of an auction, or even pursued into the real world to be caused trouble, that would be far too absurd.
The guests who hadn't left yet saw this and subconsciously stopped in their tracks, their gazes involuntarily turning toward them.
The noise, which had been gradually dissipating, slowly quieted down, as if an invisible hand had lightly pressed a mute button.
"Damn, are they really going to cause trouble?"
Someone couldn't help but curse under their breath, their tone filled with the excitement of someone watching a spectacle who didn't mind how big the trouble got.
"Not necessarily, right?"
Another guest said hesitantly.
"Maybe they just want to chat with Li Yang."
However, very few people held such optimistic thoughts.
More people had eyes gleaming with the anticipation of watching a show; after all, in most people's understanding, nobles were always mysterious, and who knew what kind of people they were.
Whispers wove through the air, yet were deliberately kept low enough not to be heard by those two Champions.
Everyone's gaze focused on Li Yang and the two of them like searchlights, waiting for the start of this "good show."
"The two of you, is there something you need?"
Li Yang's tone was calm, neither humble nor pushy.
He didn't feel much fear in his heart; putting aside whether these two could really do anything to him, just the fact that everyone was a consciousness entity meant that as long as he disconnected, it was impossible for the other party to really travel all the way to the Longlan Star Cluster to specifically cause him trouble.
Of course, he also knew that the power of nobles went far beyond this.
If they were determined to use their background and power to strip him of his position without any evidence of wrongdoing, then he would indeed have nothing to say.
But that was the worst-case scenario after all, and he didn't think that just because of an auction, it was worth it for the other party to go to such lengths.
"Sorry, for the abrupt intrusion, we would like to have a private chat with you."
The Male Laureate spoke first, his voice low and steady, without any provocation or hostility, as if he were conducting a perfectly ordinary conversation.
Seeing that the other party's attitude was peaceful and they didn't put on an air of looking for a fight, Li Yang pondered for a moment and nodded.
"Fine."
Regardless of anything else, the other party was a noble, and he should still give them some Face.
As for whether it was trouble or goodwill, it would naturally be clear after talking.
Instead of speculating about each other in public, it was better to find a quiet place to talk it out.
The two Champions exchanged a glance, seemingly surprised by his straightforwardness, or perhaps they had expected it all along.
Immediately, the two raised their hands simultaneously and waved them gently.
Li Yang felt the scene before his eyes sway slightly, as if the water surface had been lightly stirred.
The next moment, the scene of the originally slightly noisy auction hall around him quickly faded and twisted, as if it were being erased bit by bit from a canvas.
The space contracted inward as if folded, and a brief darkness appeared at the edge of his vision.
When he opened his eyes again, he was already in a small room.
The room was decorated simply, yet it exuded a sense of understated luxury.
The walls were light gray, without any decorations, yet they faintly emitted a soft light.
Underfoot was dark gray flooring with a delicate texture; stepping on it gave a sense of unreal lightness. The entire space was excessively quiet, with not a single sound from the outside world coming through.
"This is?"
Li Yang subconsciously looked around, his eyes filled with a trace of vigilance and curiosity.
"Because we are all consciousness entities, this is a private consciousness space created temporarily."
The Male Laureate explained, his tone still peaceful.
"Don't worry, everything here will not cause you any substantial harm; you can disconnect your consciousness at any time, and there will be no aftereffects."
He specifically emphasized the point of "disconnecting at any time," clearly having noticed the lingering trace of guard in Li Yang's heart.
Hearing this, Li Yang's tense nerves quietly relaxed a bit.
He could clearly feel that his connection to the outside world remained stable; as long as he wished, he could cut off his consciousness and leave this space at any time. This sense of control made him feel much more at ease.
Judging by the looks of it, the other party really seemed to just want to have a good talk with him, rather than preparing to stage some "consciousness space kidnapping" here.
However, he still had some doubts in his heart: what exactly did they want to talk about? Was it the situation during the auction, his background, or... something else?
Li Yang suppressed his inner speculations and looked up at the two of them.
"Then I wonder, what would you two like to talk about?"
