168: Chapter 168: The Black Cat's Blessing (Part 9)
"What's going on?"
"What's the situation?"
The people below were discussing it among themselves, not knowing what this meant.
They just watched as that black cat jumped into the arms of the woman before them.
When that cat revealed itself, the familiar dark green color made them instantly recall the scene that had just occurred.
This black cat was exactly the same as the black cats in those oil paintings!
"Miss, may I ask who you are?"
Someone in the crowd couldn't hold back and stepped forward first to ask, their eyes still fixed on the cat in her arms.
Still suspicious.
"Hello, Guest. I am the maid of this mansion. You may call me Vivian."
"Vivian is the master's favorite maid, oh."
"The master is so hospitable; he likes to host a different banquet every month."
"So, the master ordered the mansion to be decorated in this manner today."
"I am truly very sorry for startling you, honorable Guests."
"Goodness, where has Ryan run off to?"
"Hmph, really, leaving me here all alone, that's too much."
Vivian complained for a bit, then looked back at Qian Ye and the other Guests, immediately raising a smile again.
While soothing the cat in her arms, she dealt with the Guests in the hall.
"Oh, my heavens, I really am a terrible maid, I actually forgot the most important thing."
Looking at the empty hall, a flicker of distortion flashed across Vivian's face.
Looking back at the Guests in front of her, she returned to a smile.
"Honorable Guests, I am truly very sorry. I actually forgot to set the dining table. How terrible."
...
This time, the door opened easily, and the group including Qian Ye was all shooed outside the hall.
That maid, Vivian, claimed that she needed to set the dining table.
"Did you smell that?"
"This fishy smell has become even stronger."
...
No one answered.
"Are you players?"
It was that question again. Qian Ye didn't need to turn around to tell whose voice it was. It was still the man they had seen before.
She didn't know why he was so persistent in asking them whether they were players.
"Hey, what exactly do you want?"
Tai You stared at the man with an unfriendly look, not knowing why he kept pestering them.
"I have clues. It looks like we arrived before you and understand a bit more."
"Do you want to cooperate?"
As the man said this, his gaze kept darting toward Qian Ye.
Tai You, standing to the side, was about to get angry again, but was grabbed by the back of his collar by his uncle and tossed aside.
"My child is ignorant; please don't take it to heart."
With his signature smile, he didn't mention a word about the cooperation issue the man had brought up.
After Tai You finished speaking, he nodded, turned around, and his sturdy frame blocked Qian Ye completely, shielding her from their gaze.
Seeing this, the man's eyes darkened.
The smile at the corner of his mouth could no longer be maintained, and a flicker of malevolence flashed in his eyes.
"Damn it."
"If it weren't for..."
"Dear Guests, hello. Everything is ready. We welcome your presence."
The door was opened again, and it was Vivian's voice inviting everyone to enter.
Entering the hall again, everything before their eyes gave them a slight illusion.
Was this still the same hall from just a moment ago?
A red carpet covered the entire hall, with a white wooden long table, neatly arranged chairs, and slightly flickering candlelight.
This looked like what a normal banquet should be.
"Honorable Guests, please sit. Please wait a moment; the banquet is about to begin."
"Oh, how terrible, Ryan! Ryan!"
Before she had even finished speaking, they saw the maid run out again.
Muttering non-stop.
This was the name they had heard from her mouth again: Ryan.
