27: Chapter 27: The Mystery of the Old House (Part 1)

As she was walking along, the surrounding environment suddenly changed.

A dilapidated station exit, with mottled writing on it: Gushan Station.

The three characters were still stained with fresh blood, and there were scratches of various sizes all around.

They looked like marks left by an animal.

The sky remained grey and gloomy, carrying a hint of mist. Looking out, not far away, there were rolling mountains on one side and steep cliffs on the other.

At the same time, the familiar announcement appeared in the sky:

"Welcome everyone to the Eerie Game. Current instance: Ancient Mansion Mist."

Qian Ye pressed her molars together. She had entered the game directly; was this the price for stabbing the NPC?

The announcement continued,

"Basic information: An Ancient Mansion, a blood-stained bridal attire. Legend has it that a generation's imperial princess wore it to get married, only to have her throat slit by her beloved man on her wedding night, staining the wedding dress with blood. Since then, whoever wears this wedding dress must be sacrificed for it."

Time flew by, a thousand years had passed, and the young master of the Ancient Mansion was about to hold his wedding.

"Clearance condition: As friends, you must, of course, attend the young master's wedding."

Attend the wedding?

Qian Ye curled her lips. That was too much; her boyfriend hadn't even been found yet~

"Ah, this place is so remote."

"Darling~ When will the car arrive~"

"I'm so tired."

The woman who spoke was standing right to the left of Qian Ye. Qian Ye stared at her back with an expressionless face.

"Baby, just endure it a little longer. Your dear has already urged them, and it will be here soon."

Qian Ye curled her lips. She couldn't stand people showing off their affection in front of a single dog like her. Thinking she was in a romance game, she subconsciously grabbed the hong ling umbrella and stabbed it straight forward.

The people around heard the commotion and looked at the two who had suddenly collapsed, their eyes filled with shock.

"Crazy, is this a player or an NPC?"

"How could it be a player!"

"This, then what do we do now?"

"She seems to be a player." Another player spoke up; he had seen her looking at the sky.

Only players would see the announcement in the sky.

The NPCs didn't react at all.

"Ah, is she crazy?!"

She actually killed an NPC.

Instantly, there were wails all around, complaints from players, and fear, while some NPCs looked on in shock.

Qian Ye lifted her eyes, retracted the red singer, and wiped the blood off it, curling her lips. "Oh my, I'm sorry. I thought this was a romance game."

At a time like this, who had the heart to listen to her explanation? Their minds were filled with thoughts that it was over, completely over.

The game had just started, and they were already facing failure.

They were all going to die.

All the resentful gazes were fixed on Qian Ye.

Qian Ye curled her lips, responding with a malicious smile.

Suddenly, the dead NPCs opened their eyes again and stood up.

"Ah, this place is so remote."

"Darling~ When will the car arrive~"

"I'm so tired."

The woman repeated what she had just said.

"Baby, just endure it a little longer. Your dear has already urged them, and it will be here soon."

The dialogue between the two remained unchanged. The players present breathed a sigh of relief; thank goodness, thank goodness, the game hadn't ended.

The NPCs at the scene also seemed to have been rolled back, their eyes devoid of any fear.

Taking advantage of this moment, the players secretly identified each other, all looking at Qian Ye with vigilance.

To prevent Qian Ye from acting again, the players proactively approached the two, isolating them from Qian Ye.

"Zhang Ming, are you sick? Where have you pushed us to?"

"Ah, sorry."

Qian Ye glanced at him. He was the one who had separated her from the two NPCs; one look and it was obvious he was a player.

His eyes still held a clear, naive stupidity.

The woman stared at him suspiciously. "You're acting weird. Usually, when I call you, you ignore me. What's going on today?"

"Wu Yan, are you sick?"

"My boyfriend is speaking nicely to you, and you're still being picky."

Hu Tao, the player who was called Zhang Ming by the NPC, suddenly had a hand appear on his arm, scaring him so much he didn't dare to move.

"Dear, look at her, they are all bullying me~"

Wu Yan tugged at her boyfriend's sleeve, acting like a spoiled child.

The man patted her hand. "Alright, Baby, everyone is friends, don't make things so awkward."

"The car is here, let's get in first."

Three cars were seen pulling up in succession not far away.

There was some distance, so they had to walk forward.

Qian Ye walked to one side, staring at the three cars. One side was right next to the cliff; she wanted to raise her hands and applaud them. What great driving skills!

Instantly, Qian Ye was filled with a sense of pleasure, the scent of trouble-making.

Behind her, some players stared at Qian Ye's back. This person looked too sinister.

"Young Master, please get in the car."

The person who got out of the first car bowed slightly, respectfully inviting the man to get in.

Wu Yan looked over, turned her head to glare at them, her eyes filled with disdain. She snorted coldly and was the first to get into the car.

The man followed and got into the car, and the door closed immediately.

That driver walked up to Qian Ye and the others, performing a gentlemanly bow.

"You are all the Young Master's friends. We warmly welcome your arrival. Please get in the car."

He guided them toward the vehicles behind.

Qian Ye did not miss the eerie light in that person's eyes.

Qian Ye looked at the car; it was just an ordinary luxury car, looking no different from others.

Qian Ye took a step, directly opened the passenger door, and just as she lifted her foot to get in, she felt that something under her feet was wrong.

It had a sticky feeling, and there was a faint smell of blood inside the entire car.

Qian Ye realized what was under her feet, and her whole body radiated an aura of excitement.

She sat down and felt the seat beneath her come alive, extending countless tentacles that firmly gripped her back, leaving her unable to move.

Qian Ye tried to move, and a sinister voice came from the driver's seat: "If you move again, you will become my nourishment."

Upon hearing this, Qian Ye could already feel that as he spoke, those tentacles were burrowing deeper into her body.

The next second, Qian Ye took out her roommate's axe and slashed directly at the driver's head.

"You scared me."

"Is this how you welcome a Guest?"

"How impolite."

Qian Ye stared at the skeleton in the driver's seat. Its head had been chopped off by her and fallen to the side, still "chattering" non-stop.

"You, you are courting death."

Qian Ye snatched the steering wheel from his hands, opened the driver's door, and kicked him out. The entire skeleton fell down toward the cliff.

"Hee hee hee, the first one to die definitely won't be me."

"I really thank you for the spot where you parked."

Qian Ye sat in the driver's seat; this position no longer had those squirming tentacles.

The people outside the car couldn't see what was happening inside, they only heard some commotion.

The back door was opened, and the players outside hesitated about whether to go in.

"If you don't come in, I—am—leaving."

The young, tender voice made the players' hearts tremble. Wasn't this that player's voice!

The player who had killed the NPC as soon as she got up there.

Instantly, the players all crowded toward the car behind.

Finally, three people came to the middle car. Qian Ye looked at the people getting in, turned around, and curled her lips. "You are truly lucky."

Inside the car sat two girls and one boy, Hu Tao.

Qian Ye fixed her gaze on Hu Tao, instantly making him straighten his back.

Her deeds were still playing on a loop in his mind.

Seeing her sitting in the driver's seat, Hu Tao wanted to cry but had no tears. If he had known earlier, he would have fought to grab that third car.

Look at this, the driver had been taken out by her.

In the last car, as soon as they got in, they felt something was wrong.

"What is this thing underneath, why is it so sticky?" The light inside the car was dim, and Zhou Tong looked down, unable to tell what it was.

By the time all five of them got on, the car door slammed shut with a "bang," quickly, as if afraid of being a second too slow.

"Did you feel the stickiness under your feet? It's like some kind of liquid."

Chen Ming's expression was dark and unclear. He lowered his voice. "I felt it. It really feels like that kind of thing."

The players were still able to understand the subconscious meaning of these words and instantly straightened their bodies.

Just with that movement, they suddenly felt the chair beneath them come alive, becoming soft, and their whole bodies sank into the seat.

"Ah!" The player in front suddenly exclaimed.

"Li Lu, you, what's wrong with you?"

"Look, look at the driver..." Li Lu covered her mouth. She had just been fastening her seatbelt when she suddenly saw the appearance of the driver out of the corner of her eye.

The players behind finally looked toward the driver's seat. What met their eyes was a skeleton, its teeth bared, with two ghost fires burning in its empty eye sockets.

"Cackle..."

"Ah!"

"Ah..."

"There's something under the seat burrowing into my body."

The players were fixed tightly to their seats, unable to move.

"What should we do?"

"If you have props, take them out quickly!"

No one made a move.

Props were life-saving items for them, and they would save them if they could.

"Heh." Li Lu in front sneered; as expected, she had to rely on herself.

"Cackle... You... are too noisy... cackle..."

Li Lu felt the blood in her body draining away rapidly.

"No, no..." But no matter how she struggled, she couldn't move.

"Cackle... Be good... and become my nourishment."

The players behind held their breath, watching helplessly as the skeleton in the driver's seat slowly turned into a "person" with flesh and blood.

They dared not imagine what Li Lu in the passenger seat had turned into.

Even though Li Lu's screams inside the car were quite loud, not a sound leaked out.
