47: Chapter 47: The Mystery of the Old House (Part 21)

Hu Tao whispered to Qian Ye, "Big Boss, what should we do next?"

"Get a good night's sleep."

Leaving behind those words, she left directly.

Outside the corridor, Qian Ye tugged at her little skirt, curled her lips slightly, tilted her head, and looked at Desolate Wind, "When exactly is the wedding being held?"

"I'm really looking forward to it!"

"Soon," he said through gritted teeth.

Hearing this, Qian Ye left with satisfaction.

Desolate Wind watched her retreating figure and smiled, his eyes eerie, "I hope you're still alive by then."

— —

After successive deaths, only Hu Tao remained among the male players. There were seven players in total, two male and five female; now, it was equivalent to three women and one man remaining.

Having been busy all night following the Big Boss, Hu Tao just wanted to catch up on sleep now; who knew if any other weird occurrences would happen at night.

As soon as Hu Tao returned, the two female players came looking for him, willing to share clues.

"Chen Ming, there are only four of us players left now. It's better to join forces; our chances of survival will be higher."

Wang Xiaoxiao and the other had their plans well calculated, wanting to get more clues from Hu Tao.

Hu Tao understood their purpose to some extent; they were all forced into the game and naturally hoped to leave alive.

It was just that some of the clues he had were obtained together with the Big Boss, so even if he were to share them, he had to get the Big Boss's nod first.

"Wait a moment."

Wang Xiaoxiao wondered what he was waiting for, but didn't expect to see him knock on Qian Ye's door.

Qian Ye opened the door impatiently. Hu Tao took in her unhappy expression, and for a moment, he didn't dare to speak.

"What is it!"

"Th-that is..." Hu Tao recounted everything the two players had said to him, as well as the matter of sharing clues.

Qian Ye stared at him strangely. Why was he telling her these things? What did it have to do with her?

"Do whatever you want, just don't disturb my rest." Leaving behind those words, Qian Ye slammed the door shut.

Wang Xiaoxiao thought she was unwilling, bit her lip, and came to Hu Tao's side, "Chen Ming... brother, why do you insist on asking her?"

"The clues were all found by her. Is there a problem with me asking for her opinion?"

"What!"

Wang Xiaoxiao was stunned. Her impression of that woman was still from when they first entered the game: like a lunatic, daring to attack NPCs, not interacting with other players, and doing things her own way.

She hadn't expected her to still be alive until now.

Seeing her expression, Hu Tao didn't say anything more. Why did they, as girls, feel that girls should be in a weak position?

He shook his head. Since the Big Boss said it was fine, he understood that the Big Boss didn't care about these clues, or perhaps the Big Boss didn't even consider them clues.

Hu Tao picked out some useful information he had learned over the past two days to share, though he still kept some back; after all, telling them some things would be useless anyway.

After Wang Xiaoxiao finished listening, her expression became even more complex. She was clearly just a minor.

After the two sides finished exchanging information, Hu Tao adopted a posture of shooing them away. Wang Xiaoxiao and the others couldn't stubbornly stay there, so they could only leave. The events of the morning still left people with lingering fears.

After they left, Hu Tao also rested for a while; he didn't dare to enter a deep sleep.

— —

In her sleep, Qian Ye vaguely heard some noise.

She opened her eyes. Oh, it was already dark.

Sounds came from the corridor from time to time.

"Hurry, here, here, and over there, all need to be decorated."

"The Head of the House has spoken. It must be set up tonight, and the wedding will be held tomorrow night."

A wedding!

Upon hearing this, Qian Ye's lazy posture finally became a bit serious. She sat up and listened to the commotion outside.

"Why are they in such a hurry to hold the wedding?"

"Who knows? I heard the Head of the House is not doing well, so they're trying to bring some good luck to ward off misfortune."

The voices gradually faded into the distance.

Only then did Qian Ye get up and open the door. Looking out, it was full of red lanterns. The festive color now looked full of eeriness.

She looked up at the sky; within the ink-black darkness, there seemed to be a trace of blood-red. Qian Ye looked in that direction; the red light was even stronger near the dining hall.

"Wow, something fun again."

Qian Ye happily hugged Xiaohua, opened her hong ling umbrella, and walked with light steps towards the direction of the dining hall.

After leaving the pavilion, Qian Ye saw NPCs wandering the corridors, each like a walking corpse, walking back and forth numbly.

What happened here?

As soon as Qian Ye appeared and they smelled the scent of a living person, those NPCs swarmed forward. Qian Ye simply brandished her red singer and fought her way to the dining hall.

There were even more wandering NPCs outside the dining hall, pacing back and forth outside the door, their bodies exuding a violent aura.

Qian Ye grabbed a string of NPCs to use as shields and went straight inside. A wave of blood-stenched air hit her face, and sounds of fighting could be heard from inside from time to time.

Qian Ye's ruthless behavior along the way caused the NPCs to not dare to approach her easily, and she arrived at the kitchen smoothly.

"Cough, cough, cough, why can't they be killed?"

"I said don't come here. Do you think this is playing house?"

The latter voice was clearly suppressing anger. Qian Ye recognized it as the voices of Wang Xiaoxiao and Hu Tao.

"Heh... heh heh..."

Hearing this familiar hiss, she raised an eyebrow. Inside, red skeletons had cornered Hu Tao and the others in a corner, with nowhere to retreat.

Hu Tao was in a wretched state, with Wang Xiaoxiao and another player behind him; both of them were hiding behind Hu Tao with fearful expressions.

When Qian Ye appeared, Wang Xiaoxiao saw her at first glance, as if seeing a savior, "Su Ye, you're here, please save us!"

"Hurry, he can't hold on any longer."

Qian Ye wanted to laugh when she saw this. Did she look like a good person?

Just like that, Qian Ye remained completely unmoved, standing to the side like a spectator, watching their movements.

Hu Tao had a bitter smile on his face, and the movements of his hands became even more ferocious.

"Why won't you save us?"

Wang Xiaoxiao's face was filled with resentment, her eyes like a venomous snake, staring fixedly at Qian Ye. Her face began to change bit by bit; her eyes were filled with blood, the skin on her face peeled off bit by bit, revealing bloody flesh, with something wriggling in the middle.

"Ah!"

The other female player to the side screamed, attracting Hu Tao's attention. Just as he turned around, he saw a bloody, mangled thing attacking him in his peripheral vision.

"Damn, what is that?" Hu Tao quickly dodged to the side, his eyes meeting a pair of eye sockets glowing with red light, and he subconsciously threw a punch.

Qian Ye shook her head, looking at the suddenly transformed Wang Xiaoxiao. Tsk tsk, the second one to take the bait was this big dummy right in front of her.

Xiaohua in her arms saw so many weird things and got excited again, urging Qian Ye to hurry up. Qian Ye sighed, picked up the hong ling umbrella, and joined the battle.

Wang Xiaoxiao seemed to still have consciousness; when Qian Ye joined the battle, she would occasionally launch a sneak attack from behind. Qian Ye was amused by this childish behavior. Did she think they were playing house?

After dealing with those skeletons, the idle Qian Ye tied up Wang Xiaoxiao. Looking at her bloody, mangled face, Qian Ye teased her off and on.

"How did you also fall for the beauty trap?" Qian Ye turned her head and glanced at Hu Tao, her tone full of disdain. Hearing this, Hu Tao's face turned awkward, and he coughed twice.

"An accident."
