32: Chapter 32: The Mystery of the Old House (Part 6)

"I'm going in."

Qianye carried the skeleton and walked happily into the depths of the courtyard.

Hu Tao stared at her back, his eyes widening the next second.

Just like that, Qianye suddenly vanished.

"Was she the one who got confused, or are my eyes playing tricks on me?" Hu Tao muttered to himself.

Inside the courtyard, the moment Qianye stepped in, day instantly turned into night, with the darkness as thick as ink.

In the corridor, several white lanterns hung on both sides above, their pale yellow candle flames burning eerily, and all was silent around them.

Under the cover of night, the bamboo forests on both sides of the path swayed without any wind, emitting a strange "rustling" sound.

"Baby?"

"Dear, are you there?"

Qianye called out a few times but received no response; the entire courtyard was so silent that it felt as if no living person existed there.

The entire skeleton was tossed onto the ground by Qianye. She stared at the bamboo forest, which had been still, but suddenly began to "rustle" again, with the movements growing increasingly violent.

The corners of Qianye's mouth curled up, and her eyes gleamed with an eerie light.

"Hee hee hee, the dolls are about to make their entrance~"

As she finished speaking, that patch of bamboo forest "whooshed" and came to life.

It uprooted itself and rapidly gathered toward Qianye.

"Wow, not bad, the bamboo actually grew teeth." Qianye stared at the giant black maw that had appeared in the middle of the bamboo, her eyes sparkling.

The little flower in her arms was very excited, and the entire little tender bud was in a state of high agitation.

"Master, charge, charge, charge!"

"So much fertilizer, it smells so good."

Exuding an aura of delight, Qianye picked up her axe and charged directly into the bamboo forest.

"Hee hee hee, my roommate's axe is very sharp; it's just perfect for chopping bamboo."

"Sigh, when I was an NPC, I watched others fall in love. Why is it that now that I've become a player, other people are still the ones having sweet romances?"

The surroundings were in a mess, with broken bamboo limbs and stumps everywhere, and green liquid splattered all over the place.

Qianye, who was sitting on a pile of bamboo corpses sighing about life, heard a rustling sound.

"Meow~"

"Meow~ meow~"

"Meow~"

Qianye opened her eyes to see countless pairs of eerie green glowing eyes appearing in the darkness.

Sharp cat screeches rang out.

A group of cats was slowly approaching her.

The sharp cries seemed to be warning her, or perhaps expressing anger that she had intruded upon their territory.

"Meow~ damn human~"

"You actually killed our companion!"

With such a heavy accusation thrown at her, she wasn't having it.

"Hey, let's be reasonable. It started it, I just had to go along with its wishes."

Qianye shrugged.

She had such a limited amount of good temper.

"Considering how cute you all are, I won't hold it against you."

Without realizing when it happened, Qianye had opened her hong ling umbrella again.

"Meow~ human, you are very bold."

A deep voice made Qianye's ears tingle.

"Wow, this voice sounds nice."

A group of cats parted to make a path as a pure White Cat appeared; it was twice the size of the cats beside it, and its cat eyes gleamed with an eerie light.

If one only looked at its color, they might think this cat was quite pretty, but its entire body looked like it had been pieced together, with stitching lines all over it.

"My god, you are so cute, I like you so much."

"I want you."

Seeing it, Qianye's eyes lit up; she wanted to keep it so badly.

Before the cat opposite could react, the little tender bud in her arms became displeased, swaying up and down incessantly.

"Master, you have me, isn't that enough? You actually want to raise another dog."

"Hmph."

"Hey, that's not right. I just want to find you a companion."

"Hmph, women's words are deceptive ghosts."

"Rest assured, rest assured, you are number one in my heart."

"???"

The White Cat had a face full of question marks.

Did this human mean that she thought it was cute?

She wanted to raise it?

"Baby, are you willing to come with me?"

"You are so cute, I really want to raise a little cutie like you."

Back when she was an NPC, hmph, it was all sweet romances, with backgrounds that made one want to burst into pink bubbles; nowhere were there such cute little kittens.

"Humans are indeed cunning; do not try to paralyze me."

The White Cat bared its teeth at Qianye, the eerie light in its eyes deepening.

"Don't think a few lies will make me let you go."

"Any human who comes here must stay."

"Meow~"

"Meow~ meow!"

In an instant, all the cats rushed toward Qianye, some of them surrounded by a circle of resentment.

Qianye twirled the hong ling umbrella in her hand while fiddling with the little tender bud with her other hand.

She sighed lightly. "Sigh, we can't talk this out properly; you have to suffer a bit."

The next second, she raised her head, a flash of red eerie light passing through her eyes, and as she curled her lips, her whole person exuded an aura of wickedness.

"Hee hee hee, since you won't listen, I'll just have to educate you~"

The hong ling umbrella in her hand spun faster and faster. The group of cats swarmed toward her, but as they approached, red light instantly erupted around the hong ling umbrella.

Those cats were instantly repelled, and the weaker ones were directly struck until their souls scattered.

The shrill cries of cats were incessant.

"You are not human!"

The White Cat stopped its attack, staring at Qianye with vigilance; her abilities didn't look like anything a human could possess.

"Oh." Qianye remained unmoved and did not want to answer its question.

"Cackle cackle, let me ask one more time, are you willing to follow me~"

Qianye leaned forward slightly, smiling with excitement.

The White Cat looked at her smile and the malice filling her eyes, and it believed even less that she was human.

However, that was no reason for her to provoke it.

"Meow~" a cat cry, full of warning.

"Oh my, so that means you don't agree~"

"Hee hee hee, I love training them personally~"

Qianye's eyes were extremely bright, so much so that it was an eyesore to the White Cat, and the malice all over her became even more apparent.

It seemed she had just been waiting for this answer.

"Hee hee hee, you better accept it well~"

As she finished speaking, "tap, tap~" went the sound of her little leather shoes, and Qianye took elegant steps, charging into the center of the group of cats with lightning speed.

"Hehe, which one should I start with?"

"Ah, found it."

"You it is."

For a time, the night was filled with the miserable cries of cats.

"Stop, stop it!"

"Meow~" another shrill cry.

The White Cat was in a disheveled state, the entire cat about to be beaten to pieces by Qianye.

The resentment that had materialized on its body was about to be scattered by Qianye.

A cup of tea's time passed, and Qianye looked at her masterpiece with satisfaction.

The White Cat had a large black bow tied on its head, and it was suppressing its resentment.

There was a faint red halo around its neck.

"So cute." Qianye cradled the White Cat's chin.

"Little White is truly the cutest cat I've ever seen."

"Hmph, Master, you've only ever seen this one White Cat."

"The resentful cats you've seen before were all black cats; where have you ever seen a White Cat?"

"Otherwise, where did this black bow come from?"

Qianye ignored it, looking at her masterpiece with great satisfaction.

"From now on, you'll follow me."

"Hee hee hee, be good."

"You probably don't want to bear the consequences of me getting angry~"

Qianye curled the corners of her mouth, her whole person exuding an aura of delight.
