228: Chapter 228: Testing the Gods (Part 4)

It didn't look like they were here for a battle at all.

It looked more like a young master from a noble family.

That person was forced back by Qianye's gaze, patting his chest.

He looked palpably shaken.

"Heavens, that woman must be an expert."

"I, I didn't even dare to look her in the eyes just now."

"Oh?" The one who spoke was a young nobleman sitting down; both of them were dressed in outfits made of similar material.

They were both also extremely young.

Time passed bit by bit.

More and more people fell.

Nangong Yan's expression was extremely dark.

The casualties on their side were clearly heavier.

Qianye looked above the enemy soldiers.

As more people died, the black mist above them grew thicker.

And the fighting spirit of the soldiers opposite them also became more intense.

A thought stirred in Qianye's heart: was this black mist related to the number of deaths?

She decided to test it out.

She flashed forward, charging toward the enemy camp.

Seeing this, the soldiers raised their swords to meet her, but Qianye was extremely fast; after dodging their attacks, she went straight for a figure at the back of the enemy army who appeared to be the commander.

The commander's expression changed; he hadn't expected Qianye to dare come alone.

Just as Qianye was about to seize the commander, a dark shadow suddenly struck from the side, blocking Qianye's attack.

It turned out to be that young nobleman from before. He sneered, "Trying to break the rules? It won't be that easy."

Qianye engaged him in battle, red silk threads coiling in the air as they attacked the opponent.

At this moment, Nangong Yan also brought the remaining soldiers and charged over, joining the fray.

In the midst of the chaotic battle, Qianye suddenly noticed a special jade pendant hanging from the nobleman's waist. The pendant was faintly emitting a glow and seemed to have a connection to the black mist above.

Qianye realized that this jade pendant might be the key to dispelling the black mist. All the red threads converged onto her wrist, and the next moment, she lunged straight toward the pendant at the nobleman's waist.

The nobleman's expression changed; he wanted to protect the pendant, but it was already too late.

Qianye successfully struck the pendant. In an instant, the black mist dissipated, and the enemy soldiers stopped fighting, looking bewildered.

Seeing the situation reverse, the Shendu side quickly retreated.

Although Nangong Yan and his men achieved victory, they suffered heavy losses.

He looked at Qianye with a complex expression, his heart full of admiration and gratitude; he hadn't expected her to actually step in and help them.

"Thanks to you today, otherwise we would have found it difficult to hold them off."

Qianye waved her hand dismissively. She hadn't done it for them, and her gaze remained fixed on the shattered jade pendant.

She kept feeling that things weren't that simple.

Everyone returned to camp to rest. At night, Qianye kept watch over the jade pendant, her eyes flashing with interest and curiosity.

Suddenly, the fragments emitted a faint blue light, projecting some strange symbols.

Just as Qianye was puzzled, a commotion broke out outside the tent.

She went out to take a look and saw that it was some of those soldiers from the daytime, their eyes vacant, walking toward the camp like walking dead.

Qianye realized that this might be related to a larger conspiracy hidden behind the jade pendant.

She followed in the direction of those people and arrived at a secluded valley.

A certain aura permeated the valley, and the source of that power seemed to be right ahead. The further in she went, the more that familiar aura rushed toward her.

Just as Qianye was preparing to investigate further, many dark shadows surged from the surroundings and surrounded her. From within the dark shadows came bursts of sinister laughter: "Do you think that by breaking a small trick you can stop us? The real show has only just begun."

Qianye curled the corners of her lips. "That's right, the game... has only just begun."

The dark shadows transformed into human shapes one by one, surrounding Qianye. The black mist all around permeated the area, constantly eroding its surroundings.

It was getting closer and closer to Qianye.

She patted the teapot in her hand.

It's time to get to work.
