188: Chapter 188: The Black Cat's Blessing (Twenty-Nine)
This village certainly has many secrets.
"Cough, cough... Cough, cough..."
The white mist dissipated, and everything around became clear. Qian Ye looked toward the sound; behind her to the left was a figure wearing clothes she recognized.
Tai You.
As she got closer and saw his appearance, Qian Ye let out a scoff.
"Big boss~" Hearing the laughter, Tai You's voice was full of resentment.
Qian Ye looked at the massive pit before her, shaped like a giant cat's paw, and Tai You had been flattened right under it.
"Hee hee~ You're still alive, not bad."
Qian Ye grinned and gave Tai You a round of applause; he had even escaped from under the giant paw, very good indeed.
Tai You looked at her resentfully.
"Where are the others?"
Tai You shook his head.
"We followed the voice of that white-haired one and kept going inside. Not long after entering, you guys vanished."
"And a huge black cat attacked me."
"And well, I couldn't beat it, so I was..." Tai You scratched his head; being slapped into the dirt by a single paw was too embarrassing to say.
Qian Ye gave him a half-smile and waved her hand.
"Let's leave here first."
Qian Ye looked around; after the white mist appeared and then vanished, there didn't seem to be as many stone statues around anymore.
"Big boss, what about that maze-like place?"
He had been knocked unconscious, and he hadn't expected to wake up in such a desolate place.
It was overgrown with weeds and filled with withered branches.
"Big boss, these stone statues..."
Tai You stepped forward and looked at the statues, unable to resist reaching out to touch one. "So lifelike."
"They actually have warmth!"
Tai You looked up at the sky; it was still the same. "There's no sun, though?"
How could they be warm?
"No, that's not right..."
Tai You began to circle the stone statue.
Looking again, the face of the statue seemed more and more familiar.
"This, this, this..."
Tai You suddenly realized...
"Let's go."
Qian Ye used the hong ling umbrella to hook his collar and pull him away.
Tai You snapped out of it. "Big boss, big boss..."
Qian Ye let him go.
Just as the two of them left the desolate area, they saw Meng Yu stepping on someone.
Or someone who could tentatively be called a person.
Tai You ran over. "Holy crap, what kind of new species is this?"
Underneath Meng Yu's foot was a monster with a cat's head and a human's body.
"Meow..."
"Wooo..."
A fierce light glinted in its eerie green eyes.
"*Sniff*... Hmph, how dare you try to ambush me."
Meng Yu wiped her tears, her voice thick with a sobbing tone.
It was clear she had put in quite a bit of effort just now.
"Hey, big boss, we were just about to go look for you."
"Pfft... Tai You..."
"You..."
Meng Yu turned her head and saw a mark on Tai You's face that looked like he'd been hit by something.
"Pfft, hahaha..."
A smile was on Meng Yu's face, yet her tears continued to flow uncontrollably.
"Laugh, laugh, laugh. What are you laughing at?"
Tai You glared at her; this was a bit much.
"Hey, tell me quickly, what on earth happened? What went on?"
Tai You didn't want to talk to her.
"You have the nerve to talk about me? Look at yourself; you're not doing any better."
Meng Yu was in a sorry state, her hair disheveled and tears streaming down her face; she looked like a madwoman.
As they argued, the two were on the verge of coming to blows.
"Cough, cough..."
"Are you two children?"
Standing to the side, Tai You gave them a cold look.
The two of them instantly fell silent.
Qian Ye poked spider lily with her fingertip. "Did you guys find anything today?"
Meng Yu nodded.
"Just this guy."
"We found a notebook with some things recorded in it."
"This creature before us is a product of a curse."
