36: Chapter 36: The Mystery of the Old House (Part 10)
The door was opened unexpectedly, and countless shadows wanted to rush in.
Those things in the dark were not shadows at all; they were walking skeleton frames.
Their bodies were filled with black mist. From a distance, they looked like black shadows with distorted gaits. In their hollow skulls, pale candlelight flickered in their empty eye sockets.
"Heh, heh, heh..."
"Click, click..."
"So hungry..."
"Hungry..."
The White Cat's eerie green eyes shone with a strange light, looking forward to these starving skeletons tearing her apart.
"Go, go on!"
The White Cat waited excitedly for a long time, only to discover that these skeletons were pacing at the door and refused to cross the threshold.
What was going on?
Seeing they still had no intention of coming in, its eerie green cat eyes stared at the eye sockets of the leader, which were glowing with white candlelight.
"Kill her!"
"Kill her..."
Instantly, the candlelight in the skeletons' eye sockets turned into an eerie green glow. As if receiving an order, they swarmed forward, only to suddenly collide with something and be bounced back.
In the dark night, a faint red ring of light spread out.
The skeletons, as if unable to feel the obstacle, crazily rammed into the red ring of light.
Driven only by madness, they didn't notice the black mist on their bodies slowly drifting toward the opposite side.
Their power was quietly absorbed, and the skeletons in the front row turned into powder, dissipating into the air.
The White Cat gradually realized something was wrong. It withdrew the order and stared at what was in front of it, finally discovering the faint red ring of light.
Like a guardian, it firmly protected the princess inside.
Not believing it, it glanced at the person still sleeping, raised its sharp front claws, and with a sharp sound, stabbed directly at the protective shield.
It was bounced away with a "bang," and its entire body was thrown to the ground.
The White Cat stood up. The circles of red light seemed to be provoking it. Unreconciled, it continued a new round of charging.
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
"..."
"Meow~"
I don't know how long it had been, but the White Cat was panting on the ground, and the ribbon on its head had long since disappeared.
It was completely bedraggled, dark green liquid oozing from the stitches all over its body, and a faint black mist hovered around it, making it look even more terrifying and hideous.
"Meow~ Meow~"
The whole cat was wilted, meowing weakly.
Suddenly, the room lit up as the candles were ignited.
Qian Ye stretched, walked over to the White Cat, squatted down, and poked its butt with her finger, "Tsk, tsk, tsk, what happened to you?"
"Did you go out stealing cats in the middle of the night?"
Qian Ye's eyes shone with a gorgeous light, radiating malice, with a clear, wicked smile on the corner of her lips.
"You..."
"Truly cunning."
"What on earth are you!"
The White Cat asked weakly. As a supernatural entity, it actually couldn't beat her; she definitely wasn't human.
"Hee hee hee, you guessed right, I am definitely not human~"
Qian Ye grinned, her tone teasing, making it impossible to guess whether she was telling the truth or not.
Qian Ye bypassed it and looked at the door. Those skeletons had already moved on to other rooms, clawing and scratching at the doors again.
Piles of skeletons kept scratching and slamming against the door. With a "click," the door was knocked open.
Qian Ye leaned her back against the open door, watching the commotion in the next room with great interest.
She remembered that this room was the residence of that player's NPC girlfriend.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk."
"Shouldn't have skipped your meal."
Qian Ye shook her head.
Since breakfast, she had smelled the scent of human blood on the person delivering the food.
The breakfasts she checked all contained some amount of blood.
She wouldn't eat those things.
So she distributed them all to the NPCs.
The NPCs who came with them didn't know as much as the NPCs of this Ancient Mansion. Missing a meal, they were targeted.
Tsk, tsk, tsk, only players would pay attention to those rule messages; these NPCs wouldn't remember them at all.
The two of them who didn't eat tonight attracted a bunch of "Guests."
If they couldn't do anything to her, then only she was left to be served as a dish.
Qian Ye shrugged, listening to the miserable sounds coming from the next room, the corners of her mouth lifting. Hmm, what a pleasant symphony.
After finishing off the people inside, the skeletons slowly emerged. Qian Ye stared at the last skeleton frame with great interest, "Really nice, adding another one to the massive team."
Watching the departing skeletons, Qian Ye even happily saw them off.
Halfway through, they suddenly stood straight in unison, lining up on both sides, as if welcoming someone's arrival.
In the dark night, the sound of a suona suddenly came from afar.
"Di da, di da... di da di da di..."
"Di da di..."
A moment later, the surrounding night was shrouded in bright red light, turning night into day.
Following the sound of the suona, a large red sedan chair slowly appeared, carried at its four corners by paper figures dressed in red robes.
The paper figures still wore strange smiles on their faces.
The red sedan chair moved further and further away with the sound of the suona.
Qian Ye turned and picked up the little tender bud, openly following behind the skeleton team.
The White Cat was held by the scruff of its neck by Qian Ye, its four paws grabbing uselessly at the empty air.
Upon seeing the red sedan chair, the White Cat's pupils brightened instantly, the eerie green light in its eyes becoming even more pronounced.
"Meow~ Meow~"
"Meow~"
This was different from its previous angry cries; it was filled with excitement.
"My Master, my Master~"
No matter how the White Cat called, the distant red sedan chair didn't react at all.
"Meow! It's you!"
"What did you do!"
The White Cat clawed frantically at the air to express its anger.
It had truly underestimated the person in front of it.
Damn it!
It wanted to tear this damned human to shreds!
Qian Ye squeezed its neck with some force and spoke sinisterly, "Heh heh, you'd better learn to behave now and try to please me."
The little tender bud in her arms, nourished by the previous events, had successfully transformed into a little green sprout, its stature having grown taller.
At this moment, it radiated an aura of joy, swaying back and forth.
Hearing the Master threaten that low-level supernatural entity, the little flower swayed non-stop, pressing its small body against Qian Ye's arm and rubbing back and forth.
Master, since you dislike it, why not give it to me? So ga, it can help me grow a bit more.
"Don't even think about it."
Hmph, Master, you've changed.
The little flower tilted to one side, acting haughty.
Qian Ye ignored its erratic temperament and stared ahead; the sedan chair was moving forward with a purpose.
Following behind the skeletons, watching this red sedan chair turn left and right, heading into the depths.
The White Cat in her hand hadn't given up, its whole body glowing with black mist, still meowing incessantly, its voice becoming shrill and miserable.
There was still no reaction from ahead.
Qian Ye was annoyed by its eerie screeching and shook the little flower in her arms.
The familiar faint red ring of light appeared in the White Cat's eyes, and it instantly understood why the people outside couldn't hear or see them.
"What on earth are you!"
The White Cat no longer believed she was human. Could it be some higher-level supernatural entity that had possessed a human skin?
Instantly, some of the hostility on its body disappeared.
???
Qian Ye clearly felt the change in its aura. What had happened to it?
