38: Chapter 38: The Mystery of the Old House (Part Twelve)
Her body was covered in eerie green sap, and she was still struggling non-stop.
In the end, she broke through the vines, and despite being covered in filth, she insisted on rushing toward the bridal sedan.
Beside her, Su Ye was also staring at the wedding dress. She pulled up her interface and took another look at the basic information: bridal attire. Was the clue for clearing the level related to this?
Angelica broke through the defensive line and ran straight to the side of the bridal sedan. Her filth-covered hands were about to touch the wedding dress, but she found she could not take another step forward.
Turning her head, her scarlet eyes stared at Su Ye; her hem was being held fast, preventing her from moving forward even an inch.
"Hee hee~ I've taken a liking to this wedding dress."
Su Ye tossed her aside, away from the bridal sedan.
As soon as her gaze left the wedding dress, Angelica's consciousness returned to normal, and the scarlet in her eyes dissipated.
"I... what happened to me?" Angelica pressed her head, looking bewildered.
She... she had just seen...
Seen red... Turning her head, she saw the bridal sedan not far away, and her face instantly turned pale.
Seeing this, Desolate Wind ran over and pulled her into his arms. "Angelica."
Looking back at Su Ye, his eyes were full of complexity; he hadn't expected her to save Angelica.
Su Ye had no time to watch them being deeply affectionate; she was more curious now about what lay behind the bridal sedan.
She turned to enter the bridal sedan, but the four red-robed paper figures instantly shifted positions to block her.
The next second, the hong ling umbrella thrust directly toward them, its strange curve deepening even further.
The next instant, seeing Su Ye's action, the curve froze.
She was holding a candle, aiming it at the curtain of the bridal sedan. "Hee hee, guess which is faster—you, or the fire?"
Where did Su Ye get a candle? This thought flashed through Desolate Wind's mind in an instant.
Looking closely at the candle, it was exceptionally familiar. Turning his head, he saw that a candle was missing from the memorial tablet.
"Su Ye! You actually..." Desolate Wind's face turned livid; he hadn't even noticed when she had made her move.
Su Ye tilted her head, staring at the candle in her hand. The flame burned eerily, and even the breeze could not stop it from shining stubbornly.
Su Ye brought the candle flame closer to the curtain, threatening the paper figures. They paced anxiously in place but dared not approach.
"Meow~" Suddenly, a cat darted in from outside, heading straight for the candle in Su Ye's hand. She dodged to the side, but sharp claws left a scratch on her hand, and crimson beads of blood instantly seeped through her skin.
Su Ye looked down at the blood beads on her hand, a faint red glow flickering in her eyes. She extended the tip of her tongue to gently lick the blood from her skin. Her aura became deep and dark, and her whole being was filled with an aura of darkness. "Mmm, fresh blood is indeed the most delicious~"
"What a pity..." Su Ye gently placed the White Cat on the ground. She looked up, her eyes sharpening. She summoned the red singer, gripped the handle tightly, and charged directly at the bridal sedan, launching an attack.
The White Cat blocked her path, but Su Ye didn't even spare it a glance. She clenched her other hand into a fist and squeezed hard. Desolate Wind and the others watched as the strange cat's head simply exploded.
It didn't even let out a scream.
Having dealt with the eyesore, Su Ye didn't stop. With the red singer out, the four red-robed paper figures were instantly annihilated.
"What a pity..."
"None of you are human!"
It was over. The red light in Su Ye's eyes had not yet dissipated as she stared coldly at the bridal sedan before her. The wind rose, and the curtains swayed gently. The wedding dress inside the sedan seemed even more vibrant, radiating a faint red glow.
The next second, the wedding dress suddenly burst out of the sedan and headed straight for Su Ye, surrounded by a layer of red mist. Su Ye dodged to the side, and wherever the wedding dress passed, the air was filled with a thick, ominous aura.
The smell was extremely pungent, and Su Ye frowned.
Just how many "lovers" had to be killed to produce such a heavy ominous aura?
The wedding dress hung in mid-air, making a "whooshing" sound as it attacked frantically.
A layer of faint red light formed around the hong ling umbrella. Red clashed with red, neither giving way to the other.
The red light in Su Ye's eyes gradually faded. Watching the wedding dress and the hong ling umbrella fighting in mid-air, a playful look flashed in her eyes.
So she had underestimated this red umbrella after all.
Su Ye turned back and stared at the three "people" in the ancestral hall, a rebellious smile on her lips.
Behind her, the red singer collided with the wedding dress; light red and blood red intertwined. Her black and white long hair danced in the wind, making her appear strange and inviolable.
At this moment, Angelica only saw the wicked expression on her lips; the wedding dress had become a mere foil for the woman before her.
For a moment, she felt that the woman before her was clearly the most dangerous one.
"What are you arguing about?"
A cold, crisp male voice suddenly appeared in the ancestral hall.
Su Ye had just picked up the White Cat, and as soon as she looked up and saw the person standing at the entrance of the ancestral hall, her eyes suddenly lit up.
Upon hearing this, Uncle Bai was startled and hurriedly bowed. "Ancestor."
Seeing this, Desolate Wind also hurriedly bowed, using the same respectful title: "Ancestor."
With a "swish," Desolate Wind felt something suddenly run past him.
Looking up, the scene before him made his eyes widen in shock, and he almost couldn't maintain his expression.
"An... Ancestor?"
He... wasn't the person standing beside him just now...
Desolate Wind looked back, but Su Ye was nowhere to be seen. Standing beside the Ancestor was the woman who had just been killing like a maniac.
At this moment, she was affectionately holding the Ancestor's arm.
Angelica looked bewildered, not knowing why her father and Desolate Wind were so respectful to the young man before them.
And even called him... An... ces... tor...
Inside the ancestral hall, Su Ye was intimately hugging Ember Stain's arm, her eyes sparkling as she looked at him. "Baby~ It's really been a long time."
"You... why are you here?" Ember Stain was somewhat unaccustomed to such intimacy and tried to pull his arm away, but she was clinging to him tightly.
"Hee hee~ It must be telepathy."
"I was wondering why the long night was so tedious and I couldn't sleep, and why something in the dark kept drawing me here. So it was because my Baby was here~"
Ember Stain: "..."
He clearly knew she was spouting nonsense, but he didn't know how to refute it.
After all, he was indeed here.
As soon as Ember Stain appeared, the red wedding dress instantly vanished into thin air, along with the bridal sedan.
The red singer had been fighting excitedly, but suddenly its opponent disappeared, and it swayed left and right in mid-air, bewildered.
Su Ye glanced at the hong ling umbrella, and it also vanished instantly.
For a moment, the air became exceptionally silent.
It was so quiet that one could almost hear the sound of the candle flames flickering.
Su Ye's eyes curved into crescents, her whole body exuding a sweet aura of love. She stood beside Ember Stain, her face full of shyness.
This scene left Angelica greatly shocked. Was... was this the same person who had just gone on a killing spree?
If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she would never have believed it was the same person—so obedient, yet so wicked...
Desolate Wind looked on, speechless, as Su Ye pawed at the Ancestor, and the Ancestor actually looked at her with a smile on his face.
This, this... how did she know the Ancestor?
Why are they so intimate...
Moreover, the Ancestor had only just awakened.
Realizing something, Desolate Wind's eyes widened.
That is to say, the Ancestor had just woken up and was met by Su Ye, and the two had fallen in love at first sight!
For a moment, Desolate Wind's face was like a palette, changing into various colors.
How is this possible!
How could the Ancestor take a fancy to a human!
Desolate Wind didn't believe it.
But the scene before him...
"Baby, the night is long and I have no desire to sleep. Why don't we..."
Su Ye grinned, wearing a mischievous smile.
Ember Stain was stunned; under the candlelight, his ears turned crimson.
"You... you..."
Ember Stain poked her head. "What is stored in that little head of yours!"
This made Desolate Wind find it too hard to believe.
