170: Chapter 170: The Black Cat's Blessing (Part 11)
Interesting.
She didn't seem surprised that this was happening.
In fact, she even looked like she was expecting something.
Dish after dish was brought to the table, each plate covered, looking slightly mysterious.
"Respected Guest, please wait a moment."
One Guest couldn't wait to see what was inside, it was so mysterious.
Vivian stared at him and chuckled. The way she looked at him made his skin crawl, and he subconsciously let go.
She glanced at the pendulum on the wall and smiled slightly, "The time has not yet come."
"Delicious food is worth waiting for."
After saying that, she waved her hand and turned to leave.
"Tick..."
"Tick..."
"Tick..."
The heavy doors closed, and the entire hall became unnaturally quiet.
The sound of the pendulum swinging became even clearer.
Tick-tock, tick-tock.
The next second, it felt as if the sound of the clock was beating inside everyone's hearts.
The sound of their heartbeats synchronized with the pendulum, and for a moment, it was impossible to tell if it was the sound of hearts beating or time passing.
For a while, the hall was extremely quiet, with everyone looking at one another.
Qian Ye was bored sitting there. Seeing no movement for a long time, she started studying the black cat on the wall by herself.
She appeared like a ghost beside a portrait of a black cat.
This cat's eyes were clearly brighter and a deeper green than the others.
Qian Ye leaned forward slightly, looking up at the portrait without blinking.
Suddenly, a cat's meow interrupted Qian Ye's train of thought.
When she turned around, the hall was gone; the surrounding scenery had changed.
Qian Ye looked up, and a drop of rain landed on her face. The sky was gray and overcast, and it was drizzling.
"Xiao Hua, what are you spacing out for?"
"Let's go. If we don't leave now, the rain will get heavier, and it won't be easy to travel."
Just as Qian Ye was observing her surroundings, her arm was suddenly tugged.
Qian Ye looked down at the short-sleeved shirt and shorts she was wearing, which were a nondescript color.
Clearly, this did not look like her own body.
"Ye Ye, how did you get caught in an illusion again?"
Ling Ling's voice flashed through Qian Ye's mind.
Qian Ye remained silent.
"Xiao Hua?"
"What's wrong with you?"
"You're acting very strange today."
Only then did Qian Ye focus her attention on the person pulling her.
It was a girl of about seven or eight years old, sallow and thin. Judging by their current state, they seemed to be in a field.
Qian Ye let her pull her away.
By the time they left, the rain was getting heavier. When they ran to the village, their bodies were covered in a mixture of rainwater and mud, and their clothes were plastered to their bodies.
Qian Ye tugged at her clothes; the feeling was actually quite novel.
"Xiao Hua, why aren't you talking?"
Qian Ye glanced at her. What was there to say? She wasn't actually a little child.
This illusion was quite realistic.
Ling Ling sensed Qian Ye's thoughts and became unhappy.
"Hmph, Ye Ye hasn't seen my illusions before; they are much more powerful than this."
Hearing that jealous tone, Qian Ye couldn't help but laugh.
She was a child after all.
"Who told you to come back!"
"Are the weeds in the field finished being pulled?"
While Qian Ye was talking to Ling Ling, she was led by the Little Girl beside her to a house.
As soon as they arrived, they saw the wooden door kicked open with a "bang."
What followed was a barrage of cursing.
A man came out wearing linen clothes, but the fabric on his body was much better than what the two little children were wearing.
Unlike them, who were in shorts and short sleeves that were covered in patches and holes.
Seeing that they didn't make a sound, the man took two steps forward, raised his hand, and swung it towards them.
The Little Girl beside Qian Ye was so scared that she covered her head and didn't move.
