100: Expel demonic energy
"If we go to the Light Mage, His Majesty will surely find out. It seems we have no choice but to enter the palace first!" Neme said, as if she had made up her mind, pulling Wei He toward the door.
"Sigh, you can just go yourself. Why are you dragging me along?" Wei He asked with a frown.
"You have to help me explain things clearly, otherwise how could I have returned so quickly!" Neme said excitedly.
Although Wei He was reluctant to let Emperor Alexander the Great know about the chronosphere, Neme would certainly report these things to him anyway, so he simply followed her into the palace.
Above the Laiselo Temple, Emperor Alexander the Great sat majestically upon the dragon throne and asked with a solemn expression, "Neme, weren't you leading the army to resist the Demon Race? Why are you here? Is there some urgent matter at the front? Does it require you to return now?"
Emperor Alexander the Great's four consecutive questions made Neme feel ashamed. She respectfully explained the entire process to him. Fortunately, she didn't know about the chronosphere and only assumed that Wei He's Space Mage subordinates had sent her back.
The fact that Wei He possessed Space Mages was no longer a secret among the upper echelons of the Magic Empire. Emperor Alexander the Great did not press further, merely saying quietly, "Then go quickly to find a Light Mage to remove the black qi and return to the front immediately to command the battle. As for Carlos and his son, for colluding with the enemy, treason, and shaking military morale—they shall be executed without mercy!"
"As you command, Your Majesty!" Neme replied respectfully, then went with Wei He to find a Light Mage.
In Shadow Moon City, the capital of the Demon Race, the Demon King Chris asked calmly with his eyes closed, "Are there really that many Demon God-level powerhouses? This Gavin is getting more and more nonsensical. If he can't do the job, he should say so sooner and make room for someone new!"
The small demon soldier responsible for delivering the message replied tremblingly, "Your Majesty Demon King, it's true. Those things are square, like big iron boxes. Before we even met them face-to-face, people were already turning into green pus!"
"Gary, go over and see what's actually going on. Get a clear understanding of the situation and bring Gavin back!" Chris said coldly. He didn't believe a word of the nonsense about Demon God-level powerhouses. After all, it had taken him thirty years of cultivation and then obtaining rare treasures from the Demon Elders to reach the Demon God-level. How could there be so many Demon God-level powerhouses in this world?
"As you command, Your Majesty Demon King!" Gary replied respectfully and quickly walked out of the hall.
Gary traveled in haste and arrived at Shiguan Town, where Gavin was stationed. As soon as he arrived, several trembling demon soldiers rushed up and knelt before him, wailing, "Lord Gary, it's gone! Everything is gone!"
"What's gone? Speak clearly. Where is your commander, Gavin? Have him come out to see me!" Gary said from atop his horse, looking down at the demon soldiers.
"Lord Gavin and the three thousand Armored Soldiers are all gone. They all turned into a pool of green pus in an instant, right before our eyes!" the demon soldier complained through tears and snot.
"What? Such a thing actually happened? Why are you few alright then?" Gary asked in disbelief.
"Everyone near the city gate turned into green pus. Even the plants didn't escape; they all withered. We only survived by pure luck because we were a bit further away!" the demon soldier explained patiently.
"Who did it?" Gary realized the gravity of the situation.
"We don't know. We only know that at the time, Zhao Dan, the son of the Judicial Magistrate, came to find the Commander to borrow troops. The Commander took the troops out with him. We stayed behind in the city, and suddenly everyone died!" The demon soldier's words left Gary speechless.
"Useless! You're all useless! Is there anything else you know?" Gary roared in anger. The soldier kneeling on the ground was so scared he didn't say a word, not daring to move an inch.
In Laiseluo City, Wei He and Neme arrived at the Light Mage's residence. Alva had been waiting for them at the entrance for a long time. After all, this was to treat Neme; he couldn't delay the affairs of the Great General of the front line. Moreover, he had liked Neme for a long time, so how could he not be excited?
"Long time no see, Great General. You're still as beautiful as ever!" Alva said with the corners of his mouth turned up, visibly happy.
"Long time no see, Alva. I'll have to trouble you this time!" Neme said politely, as she was asking for a favor.
Wei He looked at Alva's fair skin, straight nose, and green robes. Between his gait and speech, he felt the man was rather effeminate.
The two of them chatted as they walked ahead, soon arriving at a room filled with Magic Arrays of various sizes. Neme stood in the center of the largest Magic Array on the floor. Alva activated his Light Magic, and one by one, the Magic Arrays lit up, shooting beams of light toward the large array on the ground.
As Neme stood there, fine beads of sweat broke out on her forehead, and she groaned in pain. Before long, a wisp of black qi flew out of her body. Alva used a bottle covered in runes to suck the black qi inside.
"There, the Demon Race's black qi has been cleared from your body! Sister Neme, are you free tonight? Let's have dinner together?" Alva said in a gentle whisper while gesturing with a 'delicate' hand, making Wei He feel a wave of disgust.
"Oh, no need. The war at the front is critical, so I must rush back immediately. I won't disturb you further. Once the war is over, I will certainly come again to thank you, Lord!" Neme's respectful posture felt foreign even to Wei He.
"Let's go, Wei He. We need to get back quickly!" Neme pulled Wei He, preparing to leave.
"Sigh, it's a long journey from here to the Magical Beast Empire. One day won't make a difference, right?" Alva said, trying to persuade her to stay. Seeing Neme walking hand-in-hand with this strange man, his heart felt as if it had been pricked by a needle.
"It's precisely because the journey is long that we can't delay for a moment! Don't you agree?" Neme said, the corners of her mouth curling up as her clear, bright eyes stared at Alva from beneath her curved willow-leaf brows.
"Uh, yes, yes. Then see you later, hehe!" Alva said with a forced smile, waving goodbye.
"Mhm, goodbye!" Neme quickly walked out of Alva's residence; she didn't dare stay there a moment longer.
Back at Wei He's Lords Mansion, Neme looked at Wei He happily and asked, "Oh, right, I remember seeing your head chopped off by a demon soldier. How did you come back to life later? Tell me!"
"Oh, that was a double. You know how it is! So many people want to kill me; how could I not have any safety measures? Don't you agree?" Wei He couldn't tell Neme the secret of the Spies, otherwise the matter of the Spy Carlos would be exposed. Furthermore, there were many of Wei He's Spies in Laiseluo City; once exposed, the loss would be too great for him.
"Oh, alright then. Let's go back. We still don't know what the battlefield looks like now." Hearing Wei He's explanation, which seemed reasonable enough, Neme didn't ask further.
"Wait a bit longer. We can't go back yet," Wei He said while sipping some wine.
"Why? You're in the mood to drink? Aren't you worried? Don't forget, your army is also at the front. Aren't you afraid something might happen?" Neme said, pointing at Wei He righteously.
"Oh, the Space Mage isn't here. He has some matters to settle. Let's just wait for him, alright?" Wei He said calmly to Neme.
"Oh, okay!" Hearing this reason, Neme couldn't say much. After all, in her eyes, Wei He was just a useless person; without those powerful subordinates, he didn't have the ability to get back on his own.
