88: Beheading Wei He

"Ah, beheading is the bare minimum; you guys are way too ruthless. Carlos is in their Lair, so how am I supposed to prove it to you? You'll find out when you attack tomorrow!" Wei He said helplessly with his hands spread.

"I don't care about that. You promised before we came that you saw Carlos among the demon race, so now you have to prove it to me!" Neme said smugly with her hands on her hips. A gust of wind blew, and the fragrance she emitted made Wei He feel refreshed.

"Then are you not going to fight these demons? You'll know once you take them down, right?" Wei He said expressionlessly, sneering in his heart at Neme's rogue behavior.

"Since their camp has been discovered, it must naturally be wiped out. However, your slander of General Carlos must also be punished!" Neme still admired Wei He for being able to find the demon camp. However, she still didn't believe General Carlos would defect. Even if he was in the demon camp, he must have been captured after being plotted against by these villainous demons.

"Who's there? Stand still!" While the two were arguing, a patrol of demon soldiers spotted them, shouting as they rushed toward them.

"They are spies, kill them!" a leading demon soldier shouted. The rest of the demon soldiers drew their weapons, which glinted sharply under the moonlight.

Seeing a squad of demon soldiers rushing at her, Neme raised her hand and threw two wind blades. Several demon soldiers were cut in half at the waist, and green blood spilled all over the ground.

Seeing the demon soldiers appear, Wei He instinctively ran toward the night hawk helicopter.

"Don't go over there!" Neme shouted at Wei He, but he seemed not to hear and kept running. Just as he was about to reach the night hawk helicopter, his head was sliced off by the nearest demon soldier. The head tumbled down into a crack in the ground.

Neme saw everything. She leaped high into the air, raining down wind blades on the demon soldiers as if they cost nothing. She knew these were patrol soldiers; if they returned to report, she would be exposed. She couldn't let them go back. At the same time, after eliminating them, she had to mobilize the army as quickly as possible for a surprise attack. Otherwise, if the patrol didn't return, the enemy would realize this place had been compromised.

After dealing with the infantry, Neme flew toward Kongdi City without stopping. Her brow was furrowed, whether because of the tight military schedule or because Wei He had died before her eyes. Although Wei He was greedy and lecherous, he didn't deserve to die. She had always shouted about killing him, but now that he was actually dead, she couldn't bring herself to be happy.

What she didn't know was that after she left, the night hawk helicopter also started its rotors and flew toward the Kodo Beast Hills.

In the early hours at Kongdi City, Neme finally returned. The first thing she did was convene a meeting of the generals from various units to announce the combat mission.

As Neme methodically commanded the various units to leave the city for the ground fissure, the night hawk helicopter that had headed toward the Kodo Beast Hills returned to the direction of the fissure.

The Orc Legion of the Magical Beast Empire and the Magic Units of the Magic Empire marched grandly toward the ground fissure. As for Wei He's Red Alert Troops, since Wei He was absent, Neme concealed the news of his death and let Huang Yichen lead the Red Alert Troops to march against the demons.

Just as the troops from various nations emerged from the Dark Forest, the demon soldiers were already lined up and waiting. Neme expected this; after all, they would surely notice when the patrol didn't return.

Neme, Rutgar, and Huang Yichen walked at the front of the formation and were all shocked to see Charlie standing before the demon ranks.

"Him! It's him! The demon soldier who used the black energy Magic Array in the Dark Forest!" Rutgar recognized Charlie at a glance and spoke excitedly.

"Charlie, as a general of the Magic Empire, how could you defect to the demons? You know that treason is a capital offense!" Neme said, looking at Charlie with a fierce gaze.

"No, it's not like that! I didn't defect. I was just injured at the time and was rescued by them!" Charlie spread his hands, palms facing outward, attempting to explain.

Everyone saw that his black hands were covered in demon scales. Neme's eyes turned noticeably red.

"You really have defected to the demons, and you've even become one! You disloyal and unfilial villain, put down your weapons and come back with me to let His Majesty pass judgment!" Neme's voice pierced Charlie's heart like a sharp sword.

"Neme, we've been friends since we were kids. Do even you not believe me?" Charlie hurriedly covered his hands with his cloak and said aggrievedly.

"Then how do you explain your hands? Do you dare show them to everyone so we can see what you've become?" Huang Yichen questioned sharply. He knew that once a crack appeared in loyalty and trust, it could never be repaired, especially with something as serious as treason. This time, Charlie wouldn't be able to clear his name even if he jumped into the Riquan River.

"This... this doesn't prove anything," Charlie said weakly, looking at his hands.

Just then, a person stepped out from behind the demon troops and walked slowly to Charlie's side.

Everyone was shocked again to see Carlos standing beside Charlie. He said to Neme and the others, "Enough. Since ancient times, the winner becomes king, and the loser is the villain. Does it really matter if one is a demon? Once we unify the entire continent, you will all be our subjects. Why distinguish between us? And why care so much about Charlie's hands?"

"Father, how can you say that?" Charlie asked Carlos in disbelief.

"Charlie, if this world has no place for you, you cannot let them bully and insult you like this. What's so great about being a general of the Magic Empire? If we can't be generals in the Magic Empire, we can be generals in the demon race!" Carlos said decisively.

These words reached Neme's ears. She forced back her tears and questioned sharply, "Carlos, you actually committed treason! Why? You were a high-ranking official of the Magic Empire, and His Majesty entrusted you with great responsibility. Is this how you repay him?"

"Hahahaha! As the saying goes, people strive for the heights while water flows to the depths. The demon army is marching south with unstoppable momentum. The world will eventually belong to the Demon God Chris. You should recognize the situation like I have and stand on the side of righteousness sooner!" Carlos said with firm eyes. When he mentioned Demon God Chris, he respectfully bowed with his hands raised, his eyes full of reverence.

"I really can't believe you are such a despicable person, a fence-sitter even worse than Wei He! To think I trusted you so much and respected you as an elder. From this day forward, you are an enemy of the Magic Empire. Anyone who sees Carlos should execute this national traitor on the spot!" Neme said viciously.

Inside the anti-air tracked vehicle, Wei He used his Gods Eye View to watch Neme's words and smiled wickedly. "What do you mean 'even worse than Wei He'? Jeez, is this how you see me now?"
