54: Seeking reinforcements

"Tell me, who sent you? Where did you come from?" Alice stared at the red alert Sniper, who was dressed in green camouflage, wearing a beret, carrying an ammunition pack, and sporting military boots, and asked.

"Commander sends his greetings, Alice!" the Sniper said under Wei He's orders.

"Commander? General, that's right, these are Wei He's men; his people all address him as Commander!" Carlos said respectfully to Alice.

"Then where did you come from?" Alice nodded at Carlos and continued to ask the Sniper.

"I came from the Harsh Forest!" the Sniper said truthfully.

"When did you arrive at the Ande Valley? How did you know about our marching plan? Speak!" Alice asked immediately after.

"We had already arrived at the Ande Valley and set up an ambush the day before you arrived. As for the marching plan, it is completely transparent to us!" The Sniper's words shocked Alice greatly.

"Why do you say that? What do you mean by completely transparent?" Alice continued to press.

"Every move you make is under our surveillance, and what's more, it is monitored from a perspective you cannot comprehend!" The Sniper continued, "You had better surrender quickly. If you don't surrender, you won't be able to leave this place!"

"Surrender? Don't even think about it! Why do you want to occupy the Southern Province of the Magic Empire? That is our land, and you have killed so many of our soldiers. What is your purpose?" Alice asked, looking calmly at the Sniper.

"Commander only wants to go back. Furthermore, your mages slaughtered the commoners of an entire city on a whim, and those soldiers were accomplices to the mages! We are here to help the commoners! To liberate the commoners!" the Sniper continued, expressionless.

"Go back? Go back where? Besides, the Magic Empire has its own national conditions; we don't need others to liberate us!" Carlos asked anxiously, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.

The other generals heard this and looked elsewhere, all wearing expressions of tacit understanding. After all, Carlos had killed someone from Riquan City; this was something everyone knew.

"If you don't surrender, you will only starve to death here!" The Sniper did not answer Carlos's question but continued to urge them to surrender.

"Take him out, hang him up, and let everyone see that this is the person playing tricks!" Alice said calmly.

"Yes!" A group of people escorted the Sniper out of the tent.

The Sniper's words deeply affected Alice. He was right; there wasn't much food left in the military camp now, as most of it had been destroyed by v3 rockets. She hoped that Jian would arrive with reinforcements soon.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!..." Just as Alice was thinking, violent explosions and the shaking of the earth came from outside the tent again.

"What's going on? Haven't all their men been wiped out?" Alice asked in confusion. What she didn't know was that she had only cleared out the red alert soldiers inside the Ande Valley, but the v3 rockets were being launched from outside the valley.

"Ah, it's skyfire! The skyfire is coming down again!"

"Ah, help me! Ah! Little brother, little brother, don't die!"

"It's the gods! The gods have sent down punishment!"

The soldiers, who had already been driven to neurasthenia over the past few days, had their wills completely shattered by these few explosions. They were screaming, yelling, and running frantically.

"We must find them, otherwise, at this rate, we will be worn down to death, and when that time comes, we really won't be able to get out of here!" Alice said while casting magic alongside many other mages to destroy the v3 rockets overhead.

The v3 rockets above their heads were destroyed, exploding in mid-air, and the debris fell, injuring many more soldiers.

Meanwhile, soldiers in other positions used their flesh and blood to take the v3 rockets head-on, getting blown to pieces, scattered everywhere. Large fires burned the tents, and supplies became even scarcer.

Alice, Carlos, and the others flew around in the air for half a day, even reaching outside the Ande Valley, but they found nothing. When Wei He saw them approaching on the screen, he had long since diverted the v3 rockets.

Alice returned to the tent, covered in dust. Seeing this scene on the screen, Su Qinglei said with heartache, "She has never been like this during a war; she must be very sad!"

"She must be very sad! Her army of 500,000 hasn't even started fighting, and they don't even know where the enemy is, yet tens of thousands of soldiers have already been killed, and tens of thousands more have lost their combat capability. They cannot fight this war; it would be better for them to surrender as soon as possible! Don't make meaningless sacrifices!" Wei He said sincerely.

"Wei He, I want to go back now. She is so sad; I want to return to her side to comfort her!" Su Qinglei said with tears on her face.

"You can go back, but you cannot mention the matter of Ravich! And everything you have seen here cannot be spoken of either! Can you do that?" Wei He said seriously.

"Hmph, I didn't expect you to have spies in the Magic Empire too!" Su Qinglei pouted.

"As long as you promise me, I can send you back!" Wei He said, staring into Su Qinglei's eyes.

"Okay, I promise you. Send me back!" Su Qinglei answered earnestly.

"If you want to go back, you'll have to wait a few more days. If you don't believe me, look!" Wei He turned the screen to the Magic Empire's field kitchen, and Su Qinglei saw with her own eyes the cook throwing human fragments of the bombed soldiers into the pot.

"This is all your fault!" Su Qinglei said, covering her eyes.

"It's too dangerous to go back now! They are short on food. Even if I stop attacking them now, the phenomenon of cannibalism among them will only intensify in the future! It's safer for you to stay by my side!" Wei He said with concern.

"No, I must go back. You just said you would send me back, and now you're going back on your word!" Su Qinglei said, looking unhappy.

"Fine, fine, I'll send you back now. System, dispatch a night hawk helicopter!" Wei He said calmly.

"Understood, Commander!" The system's mechanical voice startled Su Qinglei.

Wei He certainly knew that letting her go back carried the risk of leaking secrets, but he still didn't want to imprison her like this and chose to respect her decision, even if she just happened to have the same name and look identical to her.

After 6 hours of high-speed flight, Su Qinglei finally arrived at the Ande Valley. She stepped off the helicopter and walked towards the Magic Empire's military camp.

"General, I'm back! Hahahaha hahahaha!" Su Qinglei hopped and skipped into Alice's tent.

"Little Su, how did you come back? Where did you go? What happened to you?" Alice said with concern when she saw Su Qinglei return.

"General, I was kidnapped by a guy covered in mud!" Su Qinglei threw herself at Alice and said, crying.

"Did Wei He send him?" Alice said, comforting Su Qinglei.

"Yeah, he is Wei He's subordinate. He knocked me unconscious, and when I woke up, I appeared on a small island!" Su Qinglei hugged Alice like a little girl throwing herself into her mother's embrace.

In the Harsh Forest, Wei He was riding in a multifunctional infantry vehicle, traveling through the base.

Huang Yichen was waiting in the base early on; there was only one last step left in Wei He's plan.

Watching the continuously increasing number of Chrono Legionnaires in the base, Wei He said happily to Huang Yichen, "With so many soldiers infiltrating silently, we will definitely achieve a complete victory this time! Hahahaha!"
