41: man in black
"Let go of me! If you don't let go, I'm going to take action!" Linlin said, her face full of anger.
"Go ahead, move! There are seven of us here, feel free to try!" The men laughed recklessly, their mouths curling upward at the thought of what was about to happen.
Linlin looked displeased, her eyes turning cold. With a casual flick of her finger, a beam of magic shot out from her fingertip, sending the woman who had just been grabbing her flying. The woman vomited blood and collapsed on the ground in pain.
The men who had just been laughing were now stunned into silence; this was not at all what they had expected.
Linlin was somewhat puzzled. In the past, whenever she revealed her strength as a mage, these ordinary people would either kneel and beg for mercy or scatter and flee. Aside from being somewhat startled, these people showed no other reaction.
"Are you not afraid?" Linlin looked at these hooligans with disdain and asked fiercely.
"Afraid? How could we dare to offend a mage? But he is not afraid! He dares!" one man said, unhurriedly.
As soon as the man finished speaking, a person entirely wrapped in black clothing emerged from behind. Even their head was wrapped in black cloth, with only two holes left at the eye position. Without a word, the person lunged directly at Linlin.
Linlin hurriedly cast magic, sending bolts of Holy Light magic from her hands, striking the man in black.
His clothes were battered and tattered, revealing the skin underneath. It was wrinkled, black and gray, and in some places, it had rotted away to reveal raw, red flesh.
Linlin was startled; these wounds did not look like they were caused by her Holy Light, but rather seemed to be pre-existing.
"Ah!" He let out a roar, devoid of any discernible emotion, and then lunged at Linlin again.
Although Linlin continued to use Holy Light attacks, they only delayed his assault. Eventually, he reached Linlin, struck her with his palm, and she felt everything go black before losing consciousness.
"Hahaha, so what if she's a mage? She still ends up lying here just the same!" one man said, looking at Linlin's body with greedy eyes and drooling.
"You cannot touch this woman. Pack her up quickly; I want to take her back personally!" the man in black said in a hoarse voice.
The sound made everyone shudder, as it was dry and shrill, like a throat that hadn't had water in a hundred years trying to speak.
"Yes, you can rest assured with us; we will pack her up swiftly!" the group said, bowing slightly, looking ingratiating.
"Hmm, I will wait for you in the carriage!" The man in black left after saying this, completely unconcerned about his injuries or his tattered clothes.
Wei He, who was in the prison, was completely unaware of all this. However, the difference this time was that he had brought Huang Yichen, the Ability User, with him. Everyone, including the Jailer, was fawning over Wei He with smiles, despite the bruises on their faces from being beaten by Huang Yichen.
Wei He was sipping wine and eating snacks while consoling Andrew, unaware that Nankang Golden Valley had already begun stirring up trouble.
Lin Zhian had become indifferent to the defection and corruption of his many subordinates. After all, as a regional lord, he didn't need to report to anyone, but this kind of thing was not only embarrassing but also affected the morale of the army.
He desperately wanted to find a breakthrough to divert attention. Taking direct military action against Phoenix Mountain would trigger a war between the two countries.
According to the news Xie Yanwen brought back from the Danga Archipelago, it was Wei He and the Magic Empire who had done this together. They couldn't attack the Magic Empire for the time being, so they could only attack Wei He.
At this moment, Lin Zhian didn't care that he only had two warships. He immediately mobilized all the Ability User soldiers, boarded the warships, and set off in a grand display towards the Danga Archipelago.
Wei He, far away in the prison, had no way of knowing Lin Zhian's thoughts. With his face flushed from drinking, Wei He finally remembered that he had come out with Linlin.
Under the moonlight, Wei He walked anxiously down the deserted street with Huang Yichen and Andrew, while the Jailer no longer dared to stop him.
He saw several of the Bozi Youning still waiting at the entrance of the theater, even though the theater had long since closed.
"What are you doing here?" Wei He asked angrily, the veins on his forehead throbbing.
"Report, Commander! Lady Linlin ordered us to wait for her here!" a Bozi Youning replied respectfully.
"How long have you been waiting? Where did she go?" Wei He asked speechlessly.
"She went into the theater this morning and we have been waiting ever since!" the Bozi Youning stated truthfully.
Wei He was completely speechless; the urgent priority now was to find Linlin immediately.
"Huang Yichen, capture everyone in the theater and interrogate them one by one!" Wei He said calmly; he knew deeply that this was not the time to lose his temper.
"As you command, Commander!" Huang Yichen said as he walked toward the theater gate.
The theater gate had long been locked, but Huang Yichen kicked the door off its hinges with one blow. The door flew into the sky, tracing a parabolic arc against the moonlight.
"Who is it? Coming here to cause trouble, are you? Second Brother, grab your weapons!" A man with a long scar on his face roared upon hearing the noise. He thought someone was just picking the lock or kicking the door; if he had seen how the door flew, he probably wouldn't have been so suicidal.
"Ah!" With a thud, the Scarface who had just been shouting screamed and fell to his knees.
The few remaining people who rushed out were also taken down by Huang Yichen in a few moves, and the group lay on the ground wailing.
"Stop wailing. I ask you, where did you take the young girl who was wearing a light purple puff-sleeved princess dress this morning?" Wei He said softly.
"We don't know, we've never seen her. This is a theater, people come and go; maybe she already went back!" an old man with half-black, half-white whiskers and shifty eyes said.
Upon hearing this, Wei He simply gave Huang Yichen a look. Following a painful wail, the old man's hand bones were twisted into a pretzel.
"If you still don't talk, your fate will be even worse than his! Speak!" Wei He shouted sternly.
The few men looked at each other, but seeing the old man's hand, cold sweat streamed down everyone's faces, and their bodies trembled, unsure of what to do.
"Rip off their hands so they can never do evil again in their lives!" Wei He finally ran out of patience. He still didn't know where Linlin had been taken, and every minute later meant more danger.
"Ah! No, help me!" Scarface's arm was ripped off by Huang Yichen by force. It wasn't ripped off from the upper arm; it was torn off segment by segment, starting from the fingers, all the way up until the entire arm was removed.
Scarface fainted from the pain and lay motionless on the ground, his blood covering the floor around him.
"I'll talk, I'll talk! That woman was taken away by people from Blood Poison Town, she should be at the border by now!" a round, fat man said, trembling.
"How long have you been doing this? You must have kidnapped quite a few people, right?" Wei He's eyes were filled with coldness.
"We haven't been doing this for long. The point is, we definitely couldn't have done this alone; we are just the manual laborers. This is all the Magistrate's doing!" Seeing the killing intent in Wei He's eyes, the fat man immediately confessed everything he knew.
"Kill them!" Wei He shouted.
As soon as Wei He's voice fell, the heads of the few people on the ground burst open one after another. Huang Yichen's movements were so fast that it gave the impression that all their heads had exploded at once.
If there had been a camera in slow motion, one would have known that their heads were crushed by Huang Yichen one by one.
Of the seven people, six were killed, leaving only one woman who was stunned by fear.
