82: Arrogant Jack

Jack and Charlie appeared in the forest at some unknown time.

"Let my father go, or you will all die!" Charlie shouted at Huang Yichen and the others, looking at the unconscious and bound Carlos.

Charlie had originally only come out with Jack to check on the battle. Seeing the Demon Race's soldiers so easily defeated, he quickly restored military discipline, gathered the routing troops, and pushed back the Magic Empire's pursuers.

Now, while checking the forest for any remaining stragglers, he saw Carlos being captured. He immediately jumped out and shouted sternly to stop them.

Wei He saw Jack appear and knew that Huang Yichen and the others were no match for him. He ordered them to retreat. Meanwhile, the Bozi Youning moved Ravich and Carlos behind the rhino tanks. At the same time, he quickly dispatched a portion of the multi-purpose infantry vehicles protecting him; they burst through the city gates and sped across the deserted wilderness.

"Since you refuse to cooperate, don't blame me!" Jack said, shaking his black armor. His injuries from the last time had long since healed. This healing speed almost rivaled a Three-Star Red Alert Soldier; no wonder people said the Demon Race was so hard to fight!

Under Wei He's command, the barrels of the rhino tanks all turned toward Jack. Jack was still wondering what these things were.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! The sounds of shells exploding echoed from the direction of the hills. After a volley, the dust kicked up by the shells cleared. Jack lightly brushed the dust off his body. Although his black armor had been blown to pieces—with only a small fragment still clinging to him—and his black skin was exposed elsewhere, the long black hair on his thighs was merely singed and curled against his skin by the high heat.

"Jie jie jie jie! You have some tricks. If this kind of power kept hitting me, even a Demon God level figure wouldn't be able to hold out. However, I won't give you that chance! Jie jie jie jie!" Jack tapped his toes and leaped into the air. The rhino tanks could not target the air, making them sitting ducks for Jack.

The Rocket Troopers surrounded Jack at that moment. A dense hail of bullets hit his body but were all deflected. Then, he released a cloud of demonic energy from his hands. The demonic energy swept over each Rocket Trooper, and they subsequently fell to the ground, their bodies turning black. They were as dead as could be.

"Jie jie jie jie, I'm done playing with you! Jie jie jie jie!" Jack leaped directly over the rhino tanks and arrived at Carlos's side.

Huang Yichen tried to stop him, but Jack picked him up and kicked him away like a soccer ball. Huang Yichen flew dozens of meters and crashed into a rhino tank, smashing a human-shaped hole into it.

Xie Yanwen was also pinned to the ground by Jack and kicked away, crashing into a Neck Twister who was rushing over.

Jack looked at the dying Ravich, who was spitting blood on the ground, and smiled contemptuously. Then, he grabbed Carlos and flew back toward the forest. Seeing his father rescued, Charlie also hurried to catch up. After all, they hadn't brought any Demon Race troops with them this time; if the Magic Empire's reinforcements arrived, they wouldn't be able to leave.

What Charlie didn't know was that while the Magic Empire's reinforcements hadn't arrived, the Red Alert Troops' reinforcements had. He wouldn't be able to leave either way.

In the Dark Forest of the Kodo Beast Outpost, Jack, Carlos, and Charlie walked together on the path back. The surrounding woods were pitch black—a result of the Demon Race's invasion. Previously, this place had been lush and green.

"Haha, I've rescued your father for you. Don't worry. Once we take him back and use the Demon Race's unique medical technology, he will recover quickly!" Jack said to Charlie, his eyes flashing with excitement.

"If we use your medical technology, he'll become just like me, won't he?" As Charlie spoke, he subconsciously looked at the black skin on his chest. That patch of skin was slightly larger and covered more area than it had back in Nankang Golden Valley.

"Yes, and what's wrong with that? He'll gain faster healing times, and his self-healing ability will be greatly enhanced! Hahahaha!" Jack said, still very happy.

"Eventually, he'll become just like you all, won't he?" Charlie walked slowly, speaking as if his soul had left his body, looking distracted.

"That's right! Eventually, you will all be like me: pitch-black skin, long fangs, a pair of very hard demonic horns, green pupils, and green blood. How handsome is that? Such a sense of power!" Jack, still not noticing Charlie's mood, talked to himself.

"Then he can never return to the Magic Empire. Ah! He... he won't be able to accept it! Ah!" Charlie knelt on the ground and howled at the sky, tears streaming down his cheeks. He didn't know what had happened to him or how he had ended up like this.

Unfortunately, he really shouldn't have been so sentimental on the escape route. The distant rumbling sound alerted Jack and Charlie; they knew it was the sound of the Red Alert Troops.

"They've caught up. How troublesome! A few more have come to die! You take your father and go first. Once I deal with these annoying fellows, I'll catch up!" Jack's eyes were full of confidence. After saying this grandly, he walked toward the rear.

Charlie didn't waste words and continued forward with Carlos. After all, in his mind, Wei He's Red Alert Troops were no match for Jack. One wonders if he would still think that way if he had seen the Chrono Legionnaires and Radiation Engineers.

"Jie jie jie jie, your pathetic attack power won't hurt me in such a short time. You should just go back; don't overrate yourselves!" Jack stood his ground, speaking arrogantly to several multi-purpose infantry vehicles that had also stopped in the Dark Forest opposite him.

The light blue paint of the multi-purpose infantry vehicles looked exceptionally bright in the dark woods under the moonlight. Jack stood with his hands on his hips, his green pupils filled with disdain.

"In that case, why don't you all come at once to save me the trouble? I'll give you three free moves so you can learn the meaning of the gap between us!" Seeing that the other side didn't respond, Jack mocked them again.

After all, Jack was a Demon Lord level demon. Combined with his previous understanding of the rhino tanks' destructive power, he had the strength and confidence to say such things.

One multi-purpose infantry vehicle began to move forward slowly, bypassing a large black tree that was in its way. Jack shook his head dismissively. So many rhino tanks attacking together hadn't worked; did they think a single vehicle could defeat him?

If he knew what his situation would be in a moment, he wouldn't be thinking that way.

"Come on, what are you waiting for? Ah, hahahaha!" Just as Jack finished speaking, a green radiation beam shot out from the multi-purpose infantry vehicle toward him.

When the radiation beam fired from the multi-purpose infantry vehicle, Jack's expression changed drastically and his pupils dilated. He felt a powerful force rushing toward him. It was too late for him to dodge, and he watched helplessly as he was hit by the radiation beam.

"Ah—" Jack uttered his last sound in this world. Then, under the effect of the radiation beam, his entire being turned into a puddle of green pus.
