130: Playing with Jacob

While Jacob was walking and chatting, in the shadows unknown to them, the muzzles of several Sniper rifles were raised and aimed at them.

With a 'thwip' sound, a soldier wearing light armor following behind Jacob suddenly collapsed. Blood splattered onto Jacob's face, and he immediately jumped off his Rainbow Fire Deer to check on the soldier's condition.

Jacob arrived in front of the fallen soldier and discovered that his entire head had been shattered, leaving only a headless corpse, its blood still warm.

'There's an ambush! Alert! Be on alert! Erhu, take some men and follow me. Everyone else, stay put and stay safe!' After giving his orders, Jacob drew his saber and charged into the dense forest first.

'Thwip, thwip, thwip...' The gunfire continued. Each time it rang out, another ordinary soldier fell. When bullets flew toward the magicians, they were deflected by their own Magic Shields.

Wei He watched this interesting scene. Having some spare time, he ordered all the Snipers near Ande Valley to aim at a single point on one of the magicians' Magic Shields and fire continuously.

High-powered bullets struck the magician's Magic Shield. At first, this young magician was grinning and mocking the other soldiers for being too cowardly, shrinking back and hiding behind their shields at the first sign of trouble. However, under the constant barrage of bullets, the Beginner Magician's Magic Shield soon began to crack.

'Ah! Help! Where are the thieves? Hurry up and kill them!' The Beginner Magician scrambled to hide behind an ordinary soldier's shield.

'Hahahaha!' Even in such a critical moment, many soldiers couldn't help but laugh. Because of his superior status, this Beginner Magician had spent the whole journey belittling and mocking them.

He had thought he would be safe hiding behind the shield, but the high-powered bullets of the Sniper rifles were no joke. Even though the shields were forged from refined iron, the bullets punched hole after hole through them, striking his Magic Shield and causing the cracks to grow larger and larger.

'Ah! Help!' Just as he stood up to flee, his Magic Shield was shattered by a bullet. The next bullet struck his head with pinpoint accuracy, causing it to explode instantly, splattering blood onto the Magic Shield of the magician holding the magic orb.

'Take cover! Stay safe!' All the magicians began looking for cover. The magician holding the magic orb felt extremely awkward. Many of the ordinary soldiers were covering their mouths, snickering. It seemed that the oppression of rank had long since numbed them; they were actually quite happy even when a magician from their own side died.

'With one magician dead and no others to replace him, how are we supposed to form the magic formation?' the magician holding the orb thought to himself. Wei He didn't know that by ordering his Snipers to concentrate fire and kill a magician just for fun, he had helped resolve a crisis for himself.

While the magicians were trembling in fear, Jacob had already taken his men into the forest to search for the enemy. However, he didn't understand modern firearms and could only rely on his instincts to locate where the hidden weapons were being fired from.

Just as Jacob was nearing the Snipers, Erhu, who was following him, was hit by a Sniper shot and fell to the ground. However, it didn't hit his head, but his leg instead.

'Ah, it hurts! It feels like my bone is broken! Big Brother, help me!' Erhu's bronze-colored skin was a testament to his years of hard training in the barracks.

'Second Brother, I'm coming to save you!' A soldier had just run to Erhu's side when he, too, was shot in the thigh and fell to the ground. The others could only hide behind rocks and trees, not daring to show their heads.

'Thwip, thwip!' Seeing that no one else was coming out, Wei He ordered the Snipers to fire two more shots, hitting two people in the arms. Suddenly, the forest echoed with their screams.

'I can't take it anymore! I'm going to save them!' Several other soldiers exposed themselves and rushed to Erhu's side.

'Don't go over there! Come back!' Jacob shouted desperately, but it was too late. Sweat streamed down his forehead, and he didn't dare to look anymore, closing his eyes tightly.

'Thwip, thwip...' There were a few more Sniper shots. The few people who had just rushed out were all shot in the head; their inferior helmets were simply no match for the high-powered bullets of the Sniper rifles.

Just as Jacob was wondering what to do, two grizzly tanks rumbled over. Two shots later, the soldiers responsible for guarding were blasted into pulp. The magicians were also affected, and several of their Magic Shields shattered, causing them to scatter in all directions.

'Come on, everyone, inject your mana into the magic orb! Although we can't scrape together twenty-four people, if we combine our strength, we still have a chance to destroy these two Puppet Beasts (grizzly tanks)!' The magician holding the magic orb threw the orb into the air and emitted a stream of magic energy from his palm, injecting it into the orb.

'Alright, we're all in!' The remaining magicians also injected their energy into the magic orb. A beam of holy magic light shot out from the orb and struck one of the grizzly tanks, which immediately caught fire and exploded, its turret blown off.

Seeing that things were going poorly, Wei He hurriedly ordered the remaining grizzly tank to withdraw. However, just as the grizzly tank turned around, it was struck by the holy magic light from the magic orb. Several American Soldiers crawled out of the grizzly tank, their bodies engulfed in flames, screaming and running around frantically. Before long, they all collapsed to the ground, no longer breathing.

'So these Puppet Beasts are also controlled by people!' The magician holding the magic orb said slowly, his eyes wide open.

'Big Brother, things don't seem to be going well over at the Great Commander's side. We should go help them!' a young girl wearing a cyan magic robe said, her eyes full of worry.

'Alright, let's go support the Great Commander!' The group of magicians activated their Magic Shields and advanced in the direction of Jacob.

'Forget it, this isn't fun at all. System, proceed with the original plan!' Wei He said, sitting in his chair at the base, his feet up on the desk, his eyes looking listless.

'Understood, Commander!' The system's mechanical voice sounded again.

Inside Ande Valley, Yuri received Wei He's order and slowly walked over to Erhu and the other fallen soldiers. At this moment, Jacob, trying to avoid the Snipers' attacks, was hiding behind a large tree, not daring to move.

'Hey, uncle, don't stand here. There are thieves nearby firing hidden weapons. Be careful of getting hit, hurry home!' Seeing the unarmed Yuri, Jacob assumed he was a villager from the nearby mountains and kindly warned him.

'Look deeply into my eyes!' Yuri looked at Jacob and said slowly in a sinister voice.

'What?' Jacob asked, looking suspicious, not having heard clearly what Yuri said. He looked into Yuri's deep eyes, as if staring into an abyss.

'Ah, no, my head hurts so much! Ah!' Jacob suddenly clutched his head, howling in great pain. Suddenly, he quieted down.

'Ah, Big Brother, what's wrong with you? Were you hit by a hidden weapon?' the other few soldiers hiding in the shadows shouted anxiously.

'He belongs to us.' The corners of Yuri's mouth curled up slightly, and his sinister voice sounded slowly.
